  1. The first and last general principle is democracy, by way of the means and the ends. The first and last specific principle is reason, by way of truth comes from proof. These are our endless bulwarks.

All who put those aside shit on their food.

Doing something – this is like my idea of what we need to do to keep NZ floating and hopeful. Have one’s own town’s have a kaupapa and collective understanding with a sustainable powerful group activity of interest and support of all bringing togetherness and reasonable prosperity to all.

The place might have to set up a basic standard in time – aim to have a village perhaps even a town with its values set at around 1990s with people expecting to have full time employment, alcohol and drugs accepted but limited, weekends available even if on rotation in a job, and extra education about the world, practical economics, so we are prepared to participate in planning as an everyday political experience. Everyone to be doing something, volunteering a few hours if retired or invalided doing something enjoyable that suits personal skills,, teenagers working for a few hoursa week with adults, learning skills and how to co-operate and discuss and learn practically, and young people expected to be in bed by 11pm, not driving round looking for mischief and vandalism or destruction.

And have dances, and music, and good times, films, plays at people’s homes, sporting contests, invite visiting teams and return games, opportunities to get out and about, mix and mingle and be glad to be alive. Having stability behind as a bulwark, and being able to deal with the denizens of ‘disruption’ in a cautious and practical way.

Practicality with principle would be the slogan, not our present subtly sneering, picked up from Naziism which picked it from some philosophy -‘Work will set you free’- when actually that is just misleading propaganda, as the plan is to reduce employment opportunities and wages and replace most with automation. This is our future folks, and the future is … tomorrow, which with the disruption of technology, will change from ‘tomorrow never comes’, by using some quantum equation to prove otherwise!! Bit garbled but something positive to settle the mind on for a second and give everyone a laugh, albeit a hollow laugh.

  3. Water, the Waikato needed by that area (big on farming) but also drawn on by Auckland. So Auckland must be a large part of getting it cleaned up more quickly than 80 years. Who knows where and what we’ll be then?
