Doc Edge is “art-washing” racist brutality and apartheid

We have become aware the 2022 Doc-Edge film festival includes the Israel Embassy of New Zealand as an official “supporter”.

It appears this role of “supporter” involves the Israeli embassy sponsoring and funding Israeli film entries in return for it having its embassy logo included in the official list of supporters publicised by the Festival.

This is deeply insulting to Palestinians who live under Israel’s racist apartheid regime.

Within the last month Israel has announced the ethnic cleansing of over 1000 more Palestinians from their land (the largest cleansing since 1967); the building of over 4,000 more homes in illegal Israeli settlements on stolen Palestinian land; murdered leading Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh and then launched a shocking attack on pall-bearers and mourners at her funeral.

And just today a state-sanctioned march by racist Israelis through occupied East Jerusalem attacked Palestinians while chanting “death to Arabs”.

And Doc Edge puts the logo of this racist state’s representatives on your festival programme!

What are Palestinians to make of this?

Israel has an international programme of propaganda to gain “legitimacy” and “normalisation” of its brutal oppression of Palestinians.

Doc-Edge is participating in this propaganda drive. Helping to “art-wash” a racist apartheid regime is not acceptable.

We want the Israel Embassy logo removed from the festival site and festival programme today as a show of basic respect for Palestinians – including Palestinian New Zealanders.

Please act urgently and stand with Palestinians rather than with those who have brutally oppressed them for over 75 years.

Please respond to this message without delay.

  1. Indeed John. No human being can stomach the association of our arts community with this filth.

  2. I totally agree with J. Minto’s blog post. IMO, the most egregious post-WW2 action by Britain & other states has been the “creation” of the “state of Israel”. IMO a worthwhile read/explanation is Robert Fisk’s “The Great War for Civilisation – The Conquest of the Middle East”.

  3. I’ve been to Israel several times. I haven’t come across any obvious racism. Certainly both Israeli Jews & Arabs have a hard arsed attitude, to non Israeli Arabs, but no hatred However in comparison I’ve definitely heard hatred towards Jews from some Arabs & as well as woke middle class white liberals.

    • Mr. Goebbels (aka Terry Bond) – we got your message the first time. No need to repeat it endlessly in the expectation that you disingenuity will ultimately be accepted as an immutable truth. Did you not realize that actions speak louder than words like, “Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me”.

  6. Totally agree.
But lets do something positive. Go to docedges website contact us page and log our revulsion at their actions. Flood their site with emails

  7. Arabs in Israel have more freedom than in any of the neighboring states.

Maybe you should start a campaign against them?

    • Slight problem, Israel promotes itself as the only democratic State in the region. It is an apartheid state as numerous organisations have said, it is not democratic. It is in theory illegal to be an apartheid state. There are 65 laws that discriminate against Palestinians who live in Israel, look it up.

Neighbouring states are not lying by promoting themselves as democratic states.

    • lol the freedom to be raped and tortured by psychopathic zionists, right, right.

Funny how you people never mention the zionist subversion behind the present regimes that rule over Egypt and ‘Saudi’ Arabia.

  8. Crazy how quickly the Israeli propaganda team spring into action from their apartheid bunker in Tel Aviv with all their usual lies and trickery hoping they can shout down any criticism of their beloved God chosen state of Israel.

Terry’s post takes the prize of biggest porky so far

“I’ve been to Israel several times. I haven’t come across any obvious racism”

    ;D

  9. I would condemn the action of armed people interrupting the funeral procession of even someone like Hitler. If someone has supporters who want to have a peaceful funeral procession in honour of a person they admired (even if it was admiration of someone I would consider to be a horrible person, like Hitler,) they should be permitted to do that without being molested. The fact that Israel went to this length in the case of Shireen Abu Akleh (who was in fact not a horrible person, just a journalist,) means they’ve lost any support or sympathy I might’ve felt for them. Israel: killing this journalist was an evil act, and you’ve found a way to become even more reprehensible: by disrupting with with use of armed personnel, a peaceful funeral procession for her. How would you feel Israel, if some foreign state killed your people and then spat on their graves? Oh yeah, that’s happened hasn’t it? Remember the holocaust? Are you really trying to lower yourselves to the position of the Nazis?! Haven’t you learned anything?! This was an evil and utterly contemptible thing to do.

I used to be divided on the issue of Israel v Palestine. I’m sure there are atrocities on both sides, but the fact you’re willing to sink to these depths in this manner means that I’m now much more strongly in favour of removing all illegal Israeli settlements and limiting Israel’s power to interfere with Palestinian affairs.

You have brought shame on the Israeli state with these cowardly actions.
