I do not support Putin, his violence or his war.
B-U-T
After the obscenity of the Iraq invasion, the West is in no fucking position to lecture Russia on International Law or morality!
We lost the moral high ground a long, long, long time ago here.
If you wanted to be extra cynical, you would note that at least Russia has an actual existential issue with Ukraine being its immediate neighbour. The same could never be said about the invasion of Iraq.
I think we would also note that to date Russia has not done anything in the same vicinity of death and destruction America rained down on Iraq!
Sure, it’s early days and Putin is talking nukes, and I’m convinced it’s about to get very grim very soon, but sweet Jesus, the self aggrandising on the West by critics of Putin is sickening.
Again.
I DO NOT SUPPORT PUTIN.
I DO NOT SUPPORT HIS INVASION.
I DO NOT SUPPORT HIS VIOLENCE.
But the very hands we are pointing fingers with are drenched in blood.
Let’s not forget that in all the virtue signalling wallowing.
Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

I think it’s time for all the woke mellinial GenZ keyboard warriors to do their part and do some mandatory military service when the PM volunteers them to go and fight in the Ukraine.
It’s the right thing to do!
They’ve all trained so hard in the last four or five years, be it all, on the internet and social media. So now it’s time for them to put their warrior-keyboard-craft into action!
The first lot up should be those middle-class Nazi Hating LINO yoof, Fascists!
Nah, too soft. I listened to a whining student politician who complained about the parliament protest blocking “safe access” to the Pipitea campus. Before occupying a trench with me to quote “Chopper Reid” he needs to harden the fuck up!
and exactly which trench did you spend your youth in nick
N.B. shoveling out the slurry pit doesn’t count.
Front lines G, got the scars too. You?
But. On a serious note. Have a read of Chris Hedges’s experiences of war(s).
He’s been there…
Someone who knows about wars. https://www.mintpressnews.com/chris-hedges-russia-baited-into-war-criminal-aggression/279813/
Ardern is in a dark place, pumping millions of tax payer money into Ukraine terrorists and even signing off in parliament today with “Glory to Ukraine” (not sure if arm was raised). Unbelievable solidarity with these fanatics who dress like the Columbine killers, who committed a coup d’etat and mass murder in Odessa and a genocide in Donbas.
indeed she’ll do an ‘operation paperclip’ for ukrainian nazis and in 10yrs time we’ll be asking ‘why do we have a nazi party in NZ’
She needs to ask what her actions were whilst the Ukraine goverment flouted the Minsk accords to which they were signatories and carried on artillery attacks on their own citizens? Did she ever raise the issue of why fellow Western governments led by the USA seemed to think that pushing military alliances and weaponry up to Russias door was wise or just plain provocation? Im afraid Jacinda communicates brilliantly but is incapable of seeing the wood for the trees.
Yes, I hate to say it but she has been too busy spreading fairy dust. A disappointing, rudderless non performer indeed. Donkey deep in neoliberalism.
Stan Grant wrote a great piece on ABC the other day about what has weakened the United States on the international stage: a series of weak vapid presidents and their poor decision and war making, from Clinton, George W Bush, Obama, Trump now Biden

It seems like you can still make some sense occasionally
2022 Condoleeza Rice condemns 2002 Condoleeza Rice. Excellent example why US criticism of Putin (while correct) rings hollow. And how the MSM is a stenographer of power. Assange is imprisoned without charge in the same world where John Bolton fields softball questions on late night talkshows and Stephen Hayes has a job at NBC.
