Auckland Mayoralty Meltdown: Collins vs Tamihere vs Malloy?

After the implosion of glass jawed candidate Richard Hills, the Establishment Auckland Left are desperately attempting to find any candidate who isn’t Efeso Collins.

The power vacuum this has created means candidates who might have run have pulled out (like David Shearer).

Questions remain if the selection process for a candidate is just another attempt to stymie Efeso from the top job.

Into such confusion rides the talk of John Tamihere running again, with the possibility discussed on Waatea Radio this morning.

That would see a JT vs Molloy vs Efeso contest.

How have the Establishment Auckland Left managed to mess what should have been a smooth transition of power into such a chainsaw juggling frenzy of chaos?

Like so much of today’s happenings they are echoed in old morality tales. I think this case is similar to The Pied Piper of Hamelin. Poor administration, not honestly keeping to its promises of payment for delivery of much needed services, and the people being sorely tried. The end result in Hamelin was that they lost their young and therefore their future. Could happen in time to the Super-Shitty. No-one seems to like the act’s creation after all the hype, and the hoopla from the pie-eyed politicians!

In 1284, while the town of Hamelin was suffering from a rat infestation, a piper dressed in multicolored (“pied”) clothing appeared, claiming to be a rat-catcher. He promised the mayor a solution to their problem with the rats. The mayor, in turn, promised to pay him for the removal of the rats (according to some versions of the story, the promised sum was 1,000 guilders). The piper accepted and played his pipe to lure the rats into the Weser River, where they all drowned.[4]
Despite the piper’s success, the mayor reneged on his promise and refused to pay him the full sum (reputedly reduced to a sum of 50 guilders) even going so far as to blame the piper for bringing the rats himself in an extortion attempt. Enraged, the piper stormed out of the town, vowing to return later to take revenge.,,,playing his pipe. In so doing, he attracted the town’s children. One hundred and thirty children followed him out of town and into a cave, … Some versions state that the Piper returned the children after payment, or that he returned the children after the villagers paid several times the original amount of gold.
That version follows the line that there is no easy way out of intractable problems which need to be faced with a clear mind, unencumbered by fatuous ideas, chicanery wishful thinking or alcohol.

  2. Labour are doing the same thing here as in central govt: instead on going with flow ‘yeah looks like good idea and he seems popular and the people will like him”, they just have to fucking control everything to the nth degree! Control freaks, that’s all they are, from Jacinda and Robertson all the way down. We must control everything!!!

    Bread and circuses.

  4. Efeso Collins. is really good iam either Pacifica/Maori i am whiter than a polar bear and iam voting for him . hes well spoken down to earth and a people person in touch with ordinary people and is not a plastic person hes real

    • mike,

I agree. Efeso is a good man and would likely make a very good mayor.

Leo Molloy totally unsuitable and JT is a career trougher who is not a fan of our white brothers.

      One horse race for mine.

  5. I couldn’t care less about the feckin Auckland mayoral race. The way LINO has behaved they don’t deserve to win.

Aucklanders like the rest of Planet Key deserve so much better.

  6. Efeso wont win. Molloy will win. Pakeha will not vote for the brown boys. Our bros and sis’ south and west of the border wont vote. The labour party will be rooting for you Efeso but unfortunately congratulations Leo.

    • Nikorima,

      I think you’re wrong.

Our society is evolving. Efeso winning or losing will not be skin colour related.

Most people will recoil at the prospect of Leo Molloy being the Mayor of Auckland.

Most of us were very uncomfortable with the scum sucking maggot that killed beautiful Grace Millane having name suppression especially when his name was already widely circulating, especially overseas. Fact is it was the law and the offender was facing other serious charges so we had to respect the suppression order. Not so Leo Molloy. He didn’t respect the law. Can you imagine that sort of logic coming from the mayor of Auckland?

Despite what I’ve said here, I’m glad he’s running. He will be entertaining in a way where you wonder what left field thing he will say next. He’s a communicator and will love having the biggest platform he’s ever had to share his perspective in his colourful way. Perhaps that’s his real goal.
