A few weeks ago I asked my neighbor, a news director for NPR (public radio news in the US) about her thoughts on the Assange trial. She looked at me blankly and said “what about it?” “Well, the outcome has significant implications for press freedoms globally. Any journalist anywhere could be seized and imprisoned for reporting on government atrocities, for starters.” I offered. She looked a little confused “Oh, huh, never thought about it that way.” She replied, then asked about my pet’s health.
This is essential listening re Julian Assange. Only little old Plains FM radio has the guts to interview Hager on the facts behind the Assange travesty. Why Oh why does the mainstream media ignore this travesty of justice?
They can’t be all in the pay of the US government, can they? Where are the Gowers ? the Kim Hills? the Garners, the so called investigative journalists when most needed.
