John Key describes what Chris Luxon would be like as prime minister

As National reels from the negative fallout of Simon Bridges‘ comments on lifting the lockdown, former Prime Minister John Key has showered praise on Bridges’ potential successor, Christopher Luxon.

​Key even briefly described what Luxon would be like as prime minister.

“If Chris was the prime minister, I think what you would see is a very strong emphasis on the economy,” Key said, referencing Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who he believed was focused on things other than the economy. 

“To me the number one thing the Government of the day does is to provide hardworking New Zealanders, whatever ethnicity they come from, to get ahead and progress in their lives and do well,” Key said. 

…this is priceless.

The former PM pimping his corporate  replacement as Leader for National to National’s largest and most powerful lobby block, Chinese NZers, while Simon Bridges twists in the wind is just extraordinary.

Key is figuratively urinating all over Simon’s salad while telling him it’s dressing.

Undermining the current leader to a powerful voting block within the Party and promoting the Prime Ministership of his corporate anointed replacement is a masterclass in how you undermine with  a dead eyed smile.

Simon’s leadership is a ponytail, and John’s pulling.

No one politically assassinates quite like Key, if Simon’s leadership wasn’t in danger before this, it sure as hell is now.

      Allowing a pm like jonky to flourish like the toxic weed he is again in, say prime-ministership, would be an indication of how damaged WE still are. Of how mentally and emotionally under developed we still are.

      Seeing the little fucker reminds me of, as an adult, coming face to face with a childhood bully while drunk. It didn’t end well for the bully.

        Sarc – and what’s worse is that there are JK hero worshipers that actually genuinely believe it – i.e. that you must just be a jealous hater – including, unfortunately, a number in the 4th Estate – not looking at anybody in particular).

        What amazes me though, is that there doesn’t seem to have been any ‘investigative’ type “journalist” that’s taken the time to ask a few people that actually worked with the prick (during times when the term “the smiling assassin” was considered something good).
        Fuck what a sleazy plastic wanking mechanism. He’s the re-incarnation of kitsch Formica (trade mark) veneer even if that’s now back in fashion. So utterly sufusticated its trejuk.
        There’ll always be the smell of them though – it’s not really worth letting them steel your energy.   4. For me the bigger take out from this was the choice of a Chinese media platform, says a lot about Nationals priorities. A choice I imagine is unpalatable to the majority of the electorate, more so now then ever.

  6. I could have done without seeing Key’s ugly – in every way – visage. He was likely emphasising something already obvious : that the various suggested alternatives to Bridges seem as unpalatable as he is, or worse.

    Key’s reference to ‘the economy’, was too clumsy, and bad timing, when so many are struggling with all sorts of immediate coronavirus fallout; he should have had the sense to hold his tongue on this one.

    John’s got a bit of a nerve thinking that he knows what’s best for the country, but he made the same mistake trying to force a flag change on us too, didn’t he. Guess that poor girl’s ponytail also asked him to keep pulling it.

  7. Throughout his career in Trading, politics, and now Bank and Company Directorships, our glorious ex leader Mr Key has first and foremost always represented international Finance Capital above all else.

    That is the point of National since its inception–to shovel socially created wealth “upstairs” to the tiny elite of capitalist class exploiters. He is a filthy opportunist, raised in a warm, dry state house, on a Widows Benefit. A generation later as PM he said “beneficiaries need a kick in the pants” and he enlisted arch neo lib Paula Rebstock to mentor Paula Bennett to make damn sure they got one.

    No allusions either please about the arsehole Key is promoting–Mr Luxon. Shiny bonce would be the worst of all worlds–an advocate for the corporate few above the many, and a religious nutter with a socially conservative bent.

    Christ sake, his duplicity makes my skin crawl. A lie wrapped in the truth. Like the bullshit way back with Key trotting around state housing in McGehan Close just wanting to play the benevolent leader in waiting, gagging to help these misunderstood poverty stricken souls better themselves. Instead he flogged off their houses, raised GST, did very little to even admit housing was an issue and cracked down on beneficiary entitlements.

    He understood the issues because their sales pitch told us so but all of his governments unstated efforts was always for the wealthy.

      He got a free pass on his travel too the ninth floor.

      There was little or no scrutiny if i remember correctly on his past or on the the things we did know and when questioned about his financial dealings in 2008 ( answers too questions we expected too have an honest answer ) he prevaricated in his response.

      In fact i remember being alarmed at the lack of scrutiny of this man and what was too become normal was the MSM’s reluctance too take him on at all and those who dared were removed or threatened from causing too much damage too Keys brighter future , benign police and mass surveillance state.

      He acted like a central american dictator in a shirt and tie.
      And his colleagues who were complicit are still there……waiting.

      If anything we got the rags too riches story of this exceptional kiwi who came from a state house too go on a make an horrendous amount of money and used that background too play poor people in a deprived area of Mt Albert that he would make their lives better.

      Too the more receptive amongst us at the time knew we were dealing with a shifty foreign exchange dealer who couldn’t lie straight in bed but that didn’t matter as the rest of the country bought into the propaganda and voted for him.
