  1. The economist that has no shame! Of Course I mean Shamubeel Eaqub

From advocating not buying a house as a ‘bad investment’ and renting is better during the biggest property boom NZ has ever seen, he now apparently advocates means testing the pension … yet stopping aged migrants getting a NZ STATE pension without contributing a bean or living here only a fraction of their live, is never mentioned – even though figures are showing it has become a massive problem greater than Maori and Pacific Islander pensions in NZ combined.

Instead local pensioners who paid 70% taxes and lived in NZmost of their lives may not receive a pension and the taxes instead go to the worlds aged migrants who jump the queue, (mostly from Asia judging from the figures) who don’t have to pay any taxes or even live in NZ for much of their lives (5 – 10 years of residency only is all it takes).

Must be part of the kind face of NZ – where fairness and practicality went out the window 30 years ago!

Wonder if Shamubeel Eaqub’s aged relatives are over in NZ enjoying a lovely retirement here, joining the 59,500+ Asian aged pensioners, (already more than the amount of Maori pensioners at 48,500+) – but unlike the Maori that lived in NZ most of their lives and indiginous to NZ, most of the Asian pensioners can just come here and sign on for free health, rest home care and pension within a decade.

They can even marry other pensioners and bring them into NZ after an online romance. https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/376220/10k-11-days-and-one-failed-deportation and aged migrant numbers are expected to triple to 171,900+ in 15 years… against Maori aged pensioners who are 109,400 in 15 years…

That is not even putting a figure on rest home care and health care of aged migrants who don’t have to lift a finger but just live here for 5 -10 years to get a NZ STATE pension, free rest home care and free health care paid for by the current taxpayers who their lobby groups are vigorously advocating for a means tested pension going forward while keeping the world’s poor pensioners streaming in or stopping changing the law so you needed to have lived in NZ for 40+ years to qualify for a pension!

No wonder the immigration phone lines are running off the hook as no other country is so stupid!

So work hard NZ, you can gamble on being poor and getting a pension OR work hard and make enough savings and not get a state pension that your taxes paid for.

You would think it would make more sense to change the laws so that migrants have to pay Kiwisaver and pay for their own pension and private health care and rest homes if they come to NZ if they have not lived here much of their working lives rather than those who lived here all their lives or paid taxes most of their lives in NZ to lose out to someone who jumped the queue 10 years ago?

  2. Time polluter can’s use liquidation to avoid clean up bills!

Or just ‘sell’ their waste cheap to a third party that liquidated themselves. Primary responsibility should be on the manufacturer to cleanly dispose of it’s waste.

    • You put that so simply savenz, so clearly. I think, not kidding but ironically, that there should be an elevator that shoots clear thinking people up to the 9th? floor in the Beehive. Sort of like a laxative or antibiotic, whatever can get through the murky stuff that politicians roll in, produced by who-knows-what level of comglomeration of genes and molecules made to order for large business interests. Clear thinkers could get us through early on to a simple analysis of pros and cons; is this bringing short-term financial or political gain, at the expense of drear almost unsolvable and poisonous residues in the distant or coming-nearer future.

  3. What is happening in NZ seems to be something used in many right wing run countries and even the unions are implicated in OZ as part of the corruption…

Another successful newly minted and rubber stamped NZ citizen exploiting other migrants, deport them and strip them off NZ citizenship, of course not, no woke would even dream of that, how would all the talk of migrant exploitation continue if they actually bothered to stop it!

Guess who’s actually paying that $100k tho’ @ SaveNZ?

Nanak is rolling in his grave! while a number of young Sikhs are becoming disillusioned watching a few pigs feeding at the trough.
Nothing like an angry young Sikh to sort things out in a way they think is most expedient.
Prime Ministers have been assassinated, flatmates in a Wellington suburb have had their ears chopped off for less while others have had to really slum it and question their religion watching the feeding time of Lobh, Moh and Hankaar.

Interesting practical calculation that needs to cut through the commonsense approach of closing the borders.
Is the time for that now up? Do we face and prepare for the inevitable, with a few cases occuring, while high tracing and quarantine protocols applying? Or wish it away, she’ll be right, we’ll stumble through – with others bearing the brunt, not the politicians and seat warmers?

It’s the choice between two bad alternatives – having to settle on biting the bullet, now, rather than when we are struck with the known season flu flux. A country like ours, stretched to the limit, trying to pull it’s rags down to hide its nakedness has to be quick on its feet to keep functioning.

I recently put up a report of how the UK people are being treated under the NHS in that rich country. GP visits limited to 5 minutes each, and only one symptom to be discussed and considered in that time. Refusal to talk with an ill patient with an unclear problem resulted in her mother having to make six appointments after which effort the girl was sicker, the mother poorer, and it took a visit to a private GP, taking 20 minutes and careful questioning to enlighten all as to the problem. That is what the privatisation thrust does to government services, and ours are receiving similar scalpel treatment in the time-honoured neoliberal way to pare ‘fat’ and costs from the system. We are running skeleton services, and need to follow advice and lift the border ban, with controls in place, and as well, provide supplementary funds immediately to be drawn on as needed by Health Boards and the Department overseeing our public health system.

Knowledge is power – that has been accepted it as a meaningful statement.
So when people have lots of information about you, but they themselves are unknown, morphing into some other entity, tossing your details around that constitute your civilian identity, proof of the Real Me, how do you feel?

And the obsession of this age is now to drop paper, put everything into electrical impulses that unknown entities can find ways to plug into. How do you fight that? How would you cope with being a non-person unable to prove your identity, regarded as a liar and the stored-up data being the truth. Have you ever forgotten your password and been asked to repeat the information you gave originally to the entity you are dealing with – and you can’t remember which of numerous possibilities you may have put forward?

It would be wise to be circumspect when the snake oil merchants come selling you their comforts if only you will expose your identity to them. Think of it like exposing yourself nude to the world; it can make you feel very vulnerable and once people realise that vulnerability often it brings out the nasty in them. So be careful of tech, and it’s fertile field of goodies, they are Rumplestiltskins who will take your everything if they wish, your soul too perhaps!

Coronavirus: South Korean sect identified as hotbed
One woman aged 61 in a close community has been said to have infected 166 people. It seems that the deaths may be of old people – one item is of not getting help for two in their late 80’s.

The problem of people in general not accepting an end-of-life age is a world-wide problem. Is 80 an age at which treatment except for simple pills and care should be stopped? Can people accept that they are not immortal? And that there is a good time to die when you are old, and numerous bad times that can be terribly saddening for relatives and friends watching but unable to help.

The problem seems to be that the virus incapacitates people and could overwhelm communities. It is demanding on the organised health system.
