I really admire the quality of Nicky Hager’s investigations.
A week or so ago I had the chance to sit and talk with him about some of the ethical questions he faces in his work and how he protects his informants.
It’s just two guys talking but if you are a student of journalism you might want to take some notes of what Nicky says – especially if you are thinking of taking up investigative work.
Bryan Bruce is one of NZs most respected documentary makers and public intellectuals who has tirelessly exposed NZs neoliberal economic settings as the main cause for social issues.

once again you have stimulated my thinking.
This country needs more people like you.

Nicky and people of his caliber are desperately needed to expose the real truth behind a lot of what happens in NZ.
It is Nicky’s brave work and his sources that the public have to rely on to get the full picture.
He is a exceptional New Zealander.
