Free Julian Assange NZ has launched a petition to the New Zealand Parliament seeking that it urge the NZ Government to;

Provide Julian Assange permanent political asylum in New Zealand
The petition is online on the NZ Parliamentary website:

The petition seeks
That the House of Representatives urge the Government to provide Julian Assange with permanent political asylum in New Zealand, including a guarantee of safe passage from the United Kingdom to New Zealand.

Petition reasons
Julian Assange (Wikileaks editor) is under effective house arrest in UK. In 2012 Assange was granted asylum by the Ecuador Government and provided a safe house in Ecuador’s London Embassy.
The US Government has pressured the Ecuador Government which places Julian Assange’s freedom at extreme risk. On March 28 2018, Ecuador’s Moreno Government cut off Assange’s access to the outside world, severing his internet connection and banning him from receiving any visitors, aside from his legal team.

The total isolation of Assange was enforced after the newly-elected Moreno government expanded Ecuador’s military and economic ties to the US.

If liberal democratic governance is to continue it requires institutional free speech, press freedom and the right to criticise government and powerful interests – whistleblower protection is a fundamental requirement. Julian Assange and Wikileaks has provided the world with an unprecedented insight into global governance – particularly the unsavoury and criminal aspects that some governments prefer to keep secret. March 2017 Wikileaks released Vault-7 which contains the hacking tools developed by the US NSA/CIA to back door online platforms and capable of accessing anyone’s data. Wikileaks gained noteriety in 2010 for releasing the Collateral Murder video of US gunship’s indiscriminate killing of reporters.

Julian Assange subject to arbitrary detention” says United Nations
On 5 February 2016, the UN’s Working Group on Arbitrary Detention concluded that Assange had been subject to arbitrary detention since 7 Dec 2010; particularly paras 52, 75, 89, 97, 98:

The United Nations Human Rights Council says free Julian Assange. New Zealand supports rule of law and the UN. It follows that New Zealand ought raise its voice and punch above its weight for Justice.
As Edmund Burke states succinctly; “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing” which applies to nations of people.

  1. Of coarse why the fuk would he risk coming here when our useless government would conspire with there corrupt american buddys to deport him

  2. Martin and I were at the recent demo in Melbourne, where the cry was BRING HIM HOME.

    But the present Aussie Govt is just an American poodle.

    Here is a chance to show the world that NZ believes in free speech and freedom of information. Whistle blowers tell the public what is really going on the world; that’s the powerful hate them.
    Please sign the petition.
