  1. This is hilarious…especially the comments…(btw my partner is one of them and we have a $100 bet on that Trump is/is NOT going bomb Iran before Christmas…am looking forward to my extra Christmas present!…of course he WON’T bomb Iran!)

  2. There’s an article https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/8/17/1690875/-Trump-s-Art-of-the-Deal-ghostwriter-predicting-Trump-will-resign-soon?detail=facebook on Daily Kos in which Trump’s ‘Art of the Deal’ ghostwriter predicts that Trump will resign soon!

That sounds tantalizing, but the opinion polls have him rising in popularity again and that says more about the real problem than anything else. fivethirtyeight.com has him on poll average of 37.9 up from 36.6 just a few days ago and realclearpolitics.com
poll average has him on 38.6 up from 37.4.

His resignation will not make a hundred million Americans, many of them frothing at the mouth with racism and bigotry, change their values. And that is a problem for everyone else on this living planet.

  3. The American ‘holocaust’ (opioid epidemic) and the corporations…the economics of extinction:

    Keiser Report

    https://www.rt.com/shows/keiser-report/399859-episode-max-keiser-1111/

“Up for discussion in this episode is ‘the silver lining’ of the shocking increase in US mortality rates – reduced pension costs for corporations, increased profits for shareholders. At least this is the upside, according to the financial press.

Max also interviews Stephen Baldwin about their plans for The Great American Pilgrimage as they cross America in an RV looking to meet the people overlooked by mainstream television media. By the end of the pilgrimage, they hope to have had a whole lot of fun and a little bit of enlightenment.”

    • …and the same is happening in other English speaking countries eg UK and New Zealand…health and social welfare cutting is costing lives

  4. Wellington to be first authority to establish a voluntary warrant of fitness for rental properties.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/95842492/wellington-to-be-first-authority-to-establish-a-voluntary-warrant-of-fitness-for-rental-properties

With an overheated rental market, it will be interesting to see what higher premiums homes displaying a rental WoF will be able to fetch.

Will their higher rental cost undermine the objective?

And when eventually taken further, with unwarranted, lower standard (thus cheaper rentals) taken off the market, how much more of a premium will warranted homes then fetch?

The one thing in common those living in poor quality homes tend to have is they can’t afford to rent a home of better quality. Hence, the pricing impact of a rental WoF is the one to watch for.

As for the voluntary option, they seem to be taking a similar approach to Kiwisaver. Initially offering a voluntary option to get landlords (largely those that already have quality homes) on board, thus weakening resistance when it comes to making it compulsory.

  5. While we get the horror news about new terror attacks in Spain, few if any in the media bother to inform us, how unpopular Las Ramblas has become with locals, struggling with high rents, low wage competition and deterioration of living standards there:

Would anybody that is not falling for the trendy BS that the media presents us, perhaps step up, and give us a more balanced review, than saying it is one of the biggest tourist hot-spots in Europe?
