The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is getting much worse and the world is marching in unprecedented numbers.
New Zealanders spoke out strongly last Saturday with a march of 5,000 people in Auckland (see picture below) – the biggest march ever in New Zealand in support of Palestinians – and ion other centres as well.
New Zealanders will rally and march again this Saturday from 2pm in Aotea Square.
With over 500 Palestinians killed in Gaza – most of them civilians – we are disgusted at the feeble comments from Foreign Minister Murray McCully and meaningless words of Prime Minister John Key. Key is happy to condemn those responsible for the airline tragedy in Ukraine but refuses to condemn Israeli state terror which has murdered hundreds more civilians in Gaza.
The New Zealand government must stop its one-sided pro-Israel stance, close the Israeli Embassy in Wellington, stop the special visa-free arrangement for young Israelis coming to New Zealand and boycott Israel.
This rally and march is being organised by:
Palestine Solidarity Network
Kia ora Gaza
Palestine Human Rights Campaign
Students for Justice in Palestine

[…] controversial once a week. A good start would be for all their Auckland MPs and members to join the Justice for Palestine march this Saturday. If the media is going to pick on them regardless, let it be for the right reasons. I […]
If you really want to stop civilian deaths in Gaza then tell your terrorist friends in Hamas to stop killing them, tell them to stop using civilian homes to shoot from, tell them to stop firing rockets at Israel. Most of all tell them to stop using civilians as human shields. Even better why not go there yourself and try.
Yes!! If Hamas stopped their bombing, using human shields and now, animals as suicide bombers, there would be no war.
The terrorists are deliberately using everywhere that people gather whether a hospital, school, ambulances etc.etc.
DON’T BLAME ISRAEL IT IS THE ONLY DEMOCRACY IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
GOD BLESS ISRAEL.
What do mean”awaiting moderation:. Do you actually mean “you do not like the truth”
Israel is TRUTH.
Totally agree Colin. People are so blind to what is really happening.
…and you’re so dotty I can’t even be bothered to respond to your blinkered view.
Yes it is a horrible sight to view the mayhem that is happening. Anyone would feel for the innocent that are being bombed etc. But I mean, just stop sending rockets at Israel. If you elect a a party such as Hamas and let them use your back yard for their hatred of Israel, then what do you expect? Elect a moderate government Palestines, sit down and talk your problems through, take no arms against your so called enemy and wow, you may be surprised what may happen. But no, you continue to torment your neighbour and get the attention of the naive Minto mentality, who always seem to bleat in a safe western country, stirring the gullible.
Hi John
Sorry we missed the demonstration today. I’m now following Daily Blog on Twitter but if there is a more certain way to be alerted to demonstrations I’d be obliged if you would let me know.
We attended the Operation Cast Lead demonstration and I was very happy to send photos to a Palestinian contact in the West Bank of the Palestinian flag flying at the US consul office.
What I have found in various fora on this issue is that people tend to have entrenched views and no amount of evidence to the contrary will change that. Many others are just plain ignorant and are examples of one of the great Malcolm X quotes:
“If you’re not careful the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”
I think that pretty much reflects the reality we have today, in which any movement that offends the interests of the West i.e. the US, is labelled terrorist eg Palestinian resistance to occupation and state terror.
Keep up the good work.
Luc,
The “Global Peace and Justice Auckland” site use to inform me of any up-coming protests when I lived in that city…
