The following blog is speculation.
Yesterday I explained what concerned the Blue Patriots enough to leak to Andrea Vance was the large Intelligence Industrial Complex that has been built in NZ over the last decade.
The Blue Patriots are seen as so deep within the Government that their involvement in a leak of this size would generte an implosion in the Government. To ensure their fingerprints are not on this, a necessary fall guy would need to be sacrificed.
Enter Peter Dunne.
The Blue Patriots, alarmed at what the Kim Dotcom case reveals about the Intelligence Industrial Complex tip Vance off and get her to verify the details through Dunne. The multiple emails which have been misconstrued as flirting are in fact yes no questions as Vance attempts to verify the details the Blue Patriots have tipped her off with.
When Vance publishes the story, Dunne is left high and dry and made a sacrificial lamb so that involvement of the Blue Patriots is never noticed.
As Dunne sits in that press conference, bewildered at how his affirming the information Vance already had details to has set him up, you can see the mix of shock and realization that he’s been made the scapegoat.
His admission of being stupid isn’t to a romantic relationship, it’s to the dawning understanding that he’s been framed.
Tomorrow: Conclusion
Its an interesting theory, Martyn, and I’m not saying you are wrong, but do you have any evidence for the existence of this shadowy cabal deep within government? Can you name any individuals who might be associated with the “blue patriots”? Certainly it has to be noted that Dunne is behaving very unashamedly for somebody who has been “caught out” because of the trail of text messages. He is either being incredibly bloody minded and heading for an even greater fall, or he is telling the truth… that he didn’t leak the report.
Enjoyable speculation, and far more plausible than the narratives that have been plodded out so far.
“You can see the mix of shock and realization that he’s been made the scapegoat” – and just when you might feel slightly sorry for him, Dunne acts like a prat again over not having enough signed hard copy membership forms. He really doesn’t have much of a moral compass (other than a self-righteous attitude towards party pills). He commits one felony and gets away with it, and instead gets framed for another. There’s a kind of rough justice in that.

First – I wouldn’t have necessarily called he/she/them/her/it Blue Patriots …. but anyway
Second I have an expressed an ‘idea’ of closeness to source (i.e. the origination of the report) as I’ve commented on somewhere else before.
Third…. the perils of pissing off you’re own people AND/OR those that begun with principle, and mean to end with it.
As things stand, we’re still dealing with humans.

Hmmm, your description reminds me of a scene in JFK, where Jim Garrison (played by Kevin Costner) is going over scenarios of where Oswald was just after the shooting.
“…and for the first time, realisation may have come to Oswald that he was the patsy.” (Or words to that effect.)
Was Dunne a patsy? If so, that was a hell of a set up. I didn’t think anyone in the Nats would have the nous to pull of such a stunt.
