What do we get instead? Some absurd claim that someone tried to hack NZ for WMDs??? That’s the farcical excuse he’s come up with to spy on NZers? That someone is trying to build WMDs?
The terrorism threat in New Zealand is low but people have tried to use our technology to build weapons of mass destruction, Key said.
We have to spy on NZers for WMDs like we had to invade Iraq for WMDs. When you consider the vast new search and surveillance powers Key has already handed over to the Police, what possible excuse could he manufacture to justify turning the Eye of Mordor upon us?

What can you possibly say about a country that accepts this? Key’s claim that WMDs are the reason we need to spy on NZers is about as credible as his justification that he had to stop the Epsom Tea Pot tapes getting out because it might lead to more youth suicides if parents were recorded talking about their depressed children.
I’m getting the feeling that Key could just fart into the microphone as an answer during these press conferences now and many NZers would nod in agreement.

I’m not holding my breath that Labour will do anything to ameliorate this further premeditated and malicious attack upon my rights and freedoms. After all, it was the Fifth Labour Administration that fell over itself enacting laws to curb my freedoms and rights in the wake of a terrorist attack that took place on the far side of the planet.
