Heather du Plessis-Allan told to leave after newspaper interview

TV host Heather du Plessis-Allan has been ordered off air by MediaWorks after a controversial interview in the Herald on Sunday.

Heather du Plessis-Allan is getting more media attention by getting dumped from Story than she ever did as a bloody journalist on the network.

She took a huge steaming dump on MediaWorks chest over the weekend by mouthing off and crapping on her co-host Duncan Garner. Look, I think MediaWorks made terrible decisions under Mark Weldon and killing off Campbell Live for political reasons because he had embarrassed John Key was the worst amongst those decisions. Replacing Campbell Live with the shlock that is Story was probably the second worst decision and appointing Heather du Plessis-Allan  was the third worst.

I don’t rate Heather du Plessis-Allan at all. She’s a skinny Rachel Glucina. Can none of us remember her fawning interview with Cameron Slater on Seven Sharp where she kissed up to him and grovelled and painted him out as this wonderful human being, only to be caught out a week later when Dirty Politics was dropped? After attacking her choice of interviewing Slater, she then offered to interview me, I turned her down because I wasn’t willing to be used by Seven Sharp for the pretence of balance. She is a mediocre talent at best, and that she couldn’t rise to the challenge of co-hosting her own 7pm current affairs show and then has the audacity to crap on MediaWorks for giving her opportunity seems self-delusional.

Please god, let Andrew Szusterman do something at 7pm that actually brings insight and challenges the powerful, is that just too much to ask from a 7pm timeslot?

(PS – we find out next week if NZ on Air will fund next years Waatea 5th Estate)

  1. The only ‘ free’ media I see now is here. It’s not without its issues of course and the biggest issue is that those who have lazy minds but with an opinion and , God help us, a vote, don’t know the likes of ‘ here’ exist.
Serious effort to bring the ‘ there’ to ‘ here’ would be beneficial IMV.
Who then would care about bloody old TV? Surely, once the ‘ there’ types realise they’re being served up brain-scrout they’ll only use their TV’s to watch movies on?
You should have done that interview @ Martyn Bradbury. Any advertising is good advertising and you never know? Perhaps Heather was having an emotional day and was in the mood to be fawning over anything. She started at the bottom so perhaps she was working her way to the surface of the stinking shit pile that the MSM has rendered our state owned TV into?

  2. Fingers crossed about NZ on Air!!

Let’s hope they don’t decide The Real Housewives of Auckland or Peter Jackson needs it more.

  3. “Heather du Plessis-Allan is getting more media attention by getting dumped from Story than she ever did as a bloody journalist on the network”…um that could be because she was not much of a journalist . Potential employers will be very weary of her now too.

  4. Good old Heather d.P-A is one out of the box. This is the woman that claimed sex work harmed poor women, but herself chooses to sleep with revolting old lecher Barry Soper for free. Ewwww!!!

    • That was a low blow, although I agree with your assessment of some of her views, they are strangely old, but perhaps not so strange

Yep so many bad decisions I wonder why why whoever owns Media works hasn’t canned the lot and hired Martyn, Frank, and all the other real Investigative Jounro’s.

  7. Blah, people who are content to fill their minds with state propaganda will continue watching shows like Story and Seven Sharp. I use to plug my television in once a week for The Nation – I even stopped doing that months ago, mainly because you can stream it online. However, TV3’s website is of such poor quality, streaming The Nation isn’t even worth the effort.

Journalism in New Zealand is a joke and the fact that Heather du Plessis-Allan has become the news is only evidence of that.

  8. Heather Who? Good going back to “real housewives” and washing the dishes, perhaps, back to basics.
