Lower Hutt, and especially Petone, has had some of the purest aquifer water anywhere in the world and people came from many miles around to fill their bottles at a communal tap. All that has disappeared, in an instant, as it were, and it doesn’t look as if we are ever going to get our pure water supply back. Clearly there are a lot of angry and upset people who are no longer able to access pure water, free of chemicals, for their families.

Duncan couldn’t understand why starting school at 4 was a problem for anyone, here’s why it’s a problem Duncs. The Government wants to lower the age of starting school to 4 so that they can force beneficiaries into work a year younger and they can save on the pre-school costs.

Spin-off outsmarted: Why the NZME -Fairfax merger decision is essentially correct

Predictably, opposition to the Commerce Commission`s decision came from Fairfax and NZME; their own submissions had argued strenuously for a merger go-ahead. Accordingly, the New Zealand Herald`s May 5 editorial was entitled `Blocking this merger is a big mistake.`

Less predictably, Duncan Greive on `Spin-Off` was even more virulently opposed to the Commerce Commission`s decision.

I expected a more considered argument from an on-line magazine which is said to employ `some of New Zealand`s best non-fiction writers to create smart, shareable content`.

TV REVIEW: The Nation, Q+A and Marae

I haven’t watched the Nation much of late. It’s just the same talking heads all agreeing with each other. I tuned in this week out of mistake and Jesus it’s a hot mess. Winston Peters is on with Lisa Owen and his disdain for the mainstream media is just glorious to watch. I felt like I should have called the Police because it was an elderly Maori male beating up on a white privileged woman for 20minutes.
