Making Billionaires pay for the society that built them is righteous not envy

The Right scream ‘Envy’ at Green Party proposals to tax the mega wealthy.
The Greens will Introduce a 2.5 percent tax on the net assets of the super-rich above $10 million. There will be an exemption for family homes.
They will Implement a Capital Acquisitions Tax on assets and gifts received worth over $1 million, with family farms and family homes exempted.
They will return the corporate tax rate to 33 percent for the 0.7 percent biggest corporations, like the supermarket duopoly, energy companies, and banks.
They will Keep the corporate tax rate at 28 percent for small and medium enterprises, levelling the playing field for local businesses.
They will Introduce a Bank Levy of 0.06 percent on the liabilities of the four big banks, like Australia has.
They will Make big tech companies pay their fair share by enforcing the 5 percent withholding tax rate on the profits they send offshore.
And they will Reverse Luxon’s landlord tax cuts and the changes to the brightline test while making the first $10 000 tax free and new tax rates for those earning over $160 000.
I don’t care that they were $800million out on their numbers – WHAT IS NOT TO LOVE? Surely this policy platform proves there is a God? And that God is a socialist.
The Right argue that rather than taxing more, we have to grow the pie, but the pie is shrinking and demanding people suffer waiting for it to grow isn’t much of an election campaign – ‘Endure more pain’ isn’t as great a slogan as ‘tax the rich’ right?
NBR rich list tells us 26 Billionaires in NZ, many of them douchebags of the most worst kind, why shouldn’t Billionaire douchebags pay a Billionaire douchebag tax?

Billionaire, Steve Jobs said, and I quote…
“I didn’t invent the language or mathematics I used. I make little of my own food, none of my own clothes. Everything I do depends on other members of our species and the shoulders that we stand on.
I put to you that Billionaires stand upon the shoulders of a society and draws their wealth and power from that society with minimal obligations placed upon them. They have benefitted from an educated civil society but want to pay sweet bugger all for its upkeep!
This Green Party tax policy is as close to recognising that reality as possible.
Economic Justice in an egalitarian democracy demands no less!

It amazes me how quickly all these rich folk forget how they got there .Yep they worked hard and took a risk maybe but so dii the people that worked in that business .I spent 37 years working for the same family company .I was there when we turned over the first million dollars .I was there when we turned over 30 million a year .In the begining our hard yards was valued .But as the business grew we soon became just a payroll number .I was there when we faced making 30% of my work team redundant on a couple of occasions .I baby sat the kids at times and later they worked alongside me as they made their way through uni and into the real world .After 37 years of 60 hour weeks and shitty shift work I decided I was too old and my health was buggered so I retired .
I did get a hand shake from the boss and the only one who rally cared that I was leaving was his daughter who was genuinely disappointed that after all that time I was just allowed to walk out the door as just another payroll number now deleted .
No doubt she too will have forgotten the work myself and 25 others had contributed over 40 years to create massive wealth for her family for just a hand shake .
Apart from the gst introduced 40 years ago NZ has run a tax system designed for its former socialist mixed economy – that was tax on evenly spread income.
Greens are looking at a tax system designed for capitalism. Thats innovation, continuous improvement, watching the bottom line and generating revenue rather than cost cutting contraction to expand the nations physical and human capital. Greens using capitalist playbook on a capitalist economy.
Of course, billionaires MUST pay their share and it is not envy it’s fairness! If we are to share this country we ALL have to pay our way. The top-feeders, banks and many slimy corporates also need to step up. The workers can no longer keep absorbing the bulk of cost increases while the top-feeders coast along sucking up all the spoils for themselves. How anyone can even consider taking the “parasite” approach, is staggering. Over the past years, the wealthy have twisted the tax system to entirely suit themselves and continue to tweak it. Then the icing on the cake – Luxon – so happy to be ‘called PM’, a role he is incapable of embracing, looking forward to his Knighthood, and more than excited to accept bribes, AKA donations! Such an easy road for the affluent but, mostly impossible for the lower paid, many of whom now live in cars, on the street, and if lucky – in a sheltered doorway. And what do they eat – whatever they can find! What an immoral, cruel set-up – IT HAS TO STOP NOW! This same bumptious, unchristianlike Luxon is now offering a KiwiSaver scheme that, quess what, the employEE will mostly fund ‘not the empoyER’!
It’s your resentment.
Take a quick drive around the streets of HAMILTON at the weekend and you will see more envy than you thought existed ,in the form of record numbers of homeless people on the streets .I used to live in Hamilton and had not been into the city for a couple of years .I was blown away by the share number of people living on the street .I had to take my grand son to an appointment in Frankton which was over the road from a church .Some people turned up and set up a soup kitchen out the front of the church .Soon there was 50 plus people there with their shopping carts of belongings enjoying a meal provided by people who cared .Unlike your self i would think .You preach the good word but at heart you are just looking for a trip to heaven that you will never recieve because you are not a real christian .
