  1. We are in a race between the people waking up to the actions of our bought and paid for politicians, given cover and more by the mainstream media and the latter two honing their craft to such a level that push back becomes impossible. The power of money will be the death of us all before climate change ever sees the full light of day.

  2. Great clarification of the bias of RNZ – fear is what drives it, fear of being attacked by Cumin and others and being told they are anti semitic.

RNZ and TVNZ our state owned organisations have over the years clearly sided with Israel. There are barely any Palestinians voices heard in any reports that are made, the biggest problem is the attack dog for the Zionist movement in Aotearoa – David Cumin. Even he cannot seem to differentiate between anti semitism and anti zionism. Minto has been acccused by him of being an anti semite but he has never ever been able to give any actual examples.

The criticism of the Israeli government is regarded as being anti semitic.

  3. Here is a simple question for you Mick;

Do you think the Russian Federation is an imperialist state?

    Yes/No?

I mean, they tick all the boxes

….On the third anniversary of Russia’s military intervention in Syria, an independent monitoring group, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said Russian air strikes and artillery shells have killed 18,000 people, including nearly 8,000 civilians, .
But the Kremlin says it killed significantly more in its quest to bolster the rule of Bashar al-Assad in Syria. The head of its parliamentary defence committee announced on Sunday that it had killed 85,000 people, calling them all “terrorists”. Russia also claims it has not killed a single civilian in Syria over the last three years…..

“Peacock’s sloppy reporting falsely claimed I was “found to have inappropriately edited more than 50 online international news stories” and that “most were altered with a pro-Russian slant”.
The number flagged in RNZ’s internal audit was in fact 49 stories, less than half of which related to the West’s proxy war in Ukraine.”
    Mick Hall

Sacked from RNZ, not for righteous Pro-Palestinian edits. But for pro-Russian Federation edits. Which is a shame. because though we would’ve liked to protest your sacking the NZ Left is strongly anti-imperialist.

    1. Best steer clear of the imperial media machine for those looking to become anti-imperialists. Remember the people, remember the people, for those losing their leftish bearings, in times of war. War is made up of people fighting each other, dying at the behest of politicians. War is not a hollywood script made up of good guy/bad guy figureheads elevated to a level where the people, and the pain and suffering they endure, is masked, hidden behind cleverly crafted imperial media narratives.

      So no to war.

    2. Pat, Mick was sacked for introducing balanced reporting into a whole range of international issues concerning Ukraine, Palestine, Venezuela, and Peru to name a few. He was accused of being pro-Russian, pro-Palestinian, pro-Peruvian and so on, but he was only ever pro-truth.
Whether Russia is an imperial power is a moot point. However your support for the military intervention of the western powers in Ukraine on that basis was, I believe, misguided. It has brought nothing but suffering to the people of Ukraine, who have now been abandoned to their fate by the United States. This outcome was utterly predictable, and you should have been able to see that as well as anyone else. Ukraine could have chosen neutrality and peace, as Ireland did. Instead, in direct contradiction to his electoral promises, Zelensky chose NATO and war.
I would like to believe that the New Zealand Left is “strongly anti-imperialist” but the truth is that a significant portion of the New Zealand left has always been strongly imperialist and colonialist, and that remains the case today. The left failed Mick, it failed the country, and it is disgraceful to claim that it did so for righteous reasons.

    1. Commonly known as doxing, the act of publicly releasing someone’s contact information for malicious purposes, is a vile practice.

Q: What is ‘Doxing’? google search

A:….releasing information like a person’s full name, address, phone number, email, workplace, or other sensitive details.
      How it’s done:
Doxers may obtain this information from public databases, social media, or through hacking or social engineering.
      Why it’s done:
Doxing is often used to target individuals with whom the doxer disagrees or dislikes, or to cause harm or embarrassment.
      Consequences:
Doxing can have serious consequences for victims, including stalking, identity theft, physical harm, and job loss.
      Examples of information doxed:
      Home address
      Phone number
      Email address
      Workplace
      Financial information
      Family information

  4. Colin Feslier’s ideal for a journalist, a politician and a citizen is one who can witness brutality without feeling anger and suffering without feeling compassion. More than that, it is a person who can inflict unbearable pain without any sense of remorse. His ideal is a person who is not necessarily incapable of emotion but who has the knack of separating off areas of life where the ordinary human emotions are not permitted to apply.
This cannot help but remind us of the words of Heinrich Himmler who declared in his Posen Speech “to have gone through [the extermination of the Jewish people] while remaining (apart from exceptions of human weakness) decent, has made us tough. That is an unwritten and never-to-be-written glorious page of our history…,” and went on to say that through all that “we have not been harmed inside, in our soul, in our character.”
I am sure that Christopher Luxon, Winston Peters, David Seymour and Colin Feslier go home each night confidently believing “we have not been harmed inside, in our soul, in our character…”. Like Herr Himmler they hold themselves to be thoroughly decent people who have done what has to be done in the interests of the state. In these individuals we see the “decency” claimed by Himmler combined with “the banality of evil” so astutely discerned by Hannah Arendt.
Eighty years have passed since the idea of “decency” was explicitly linked to the perpetration of genocide in this way in a supposedly civilized European state, yet it has now become the rule throughout the western world, and not least in the Realm of New Zealand.
We are now confronting evil in all its banality dressed in the garb of “decency”.

  5. This is so telling:
He writes: “Israel, as a result of tourism, trade, ‘western’ alignment and language (with English a common first and second language there) have [sic] a greater ‘news proximity’ to New Zealand than do Palestinians and Palestine. Stories may be chosen for these reasons and the inevitable result is a stronger perception of news relevance of Israeli stories. Coverage of stories with a Palestinian angle will tend to be less often reported.”

Aaaah but their skin is brown so why would we in the West bother with these Arabs!

OMG the West are a bloody disgrace. I remember when a person from one of the African nations asked why is it that all the people who have been taken to the international criminal court are brown/black? I can think of so many who have done appalling things, let’s face it nearly every president of the US is culpable for the bombing or invasion and killing because they don’t like the government, they don’t support the West, they might keep their oil to themselves.

According to “America Invades”, the U.S. has been militarily involved in 191 of the 194 countries recognized by the United Nations.
