Could Citizen Helen save NZ from PM Winston Peters with bombshell Mt Albert endorsement?
Mt Albert is loyal middle class Labour, it has had Helen Clark as a representative, David Shearer and Jacinda Ardern, but what if the electorates most staunch and respected resident, Helen Clark, bucked tradition and instead of giving Helen White her blessing, give her endorsement for Mt Albert residents to instead candidate vote TOP leader, Qiulae Wong instead?
With the election close and this terrible right wing Government eating itself, wouldn’t a preferable outcome to having Winston as Prime Minister be TOP winning Mt Albert and bringing in all that sub 5% TOP Party vote that would rob the right of a victory?
Helen is best placed to make such a call because she has the most out of respect amongst Mt Albert voters.
It’s not like Helen White won’t get in on the Party list.
Green voters would have to forgo voting for Riccardo as a candidate, but could still support Greens with a Party vote.
Likewise Labour voters would need to candidate vote Qiulae and Party vote Labour.
Mt Albert voters could kick out this right wing Government if they candidate vote Qiulae.
TOP are basically right-wing and no left-wing party should be assisting their entry to Parliament. They are right-wing because they believe in the perfectability of markets. In TOP’s mind, by getting the incentives right, restricting monopoly/duopoly/cartel power and driving out other forms of bad behaviour, markets will operate like Adam Smith claimed on the tin, and general prosperity for all will follow. In other words, the internal logic of markets must be freed from these distortionary influences. It’s bollocks, because the internal logic of markets is itself the problem, and markets have to be disciplined from the outside by the idea of shared social purpose.
Aren’t TOP just as likely to support a right wing Coalition as a left?
Wouldn’t it be wonderful! Although Helen could balk at this tactic, I’m sure she knows the likes of Seymour and Peters wouldn’t hesitate for one minute! Whatever the Left has to do to rid us of this scurrilous, corrupt CoC they must do for NZ not themselves. NZ desperately needs to be RESET back on track. So hopefully Hipkins et al, post budget, are ready to save NZ and introduce a much fairer taxation system where everyone pays their way and the loopholes/cheating are closed down. If taxpayers don’t like it they can go and live in another country – we dont need any more bludgers! Time to get back to a common sense approach all round.
