TVNZ’s Colmar Brunton poll had support for making cannabis legal at 39%, versus 52% for the status quo. It’s a drop from two years ago. A Newshub/Reid Research poll was also concerning, with 42% saying they would vote Yes, but 48% would vote No.

We all accept that there will be some parents who are a danger to their children, but they are the exception, not the rule, and the incredibly low thresholds being used to seize children is just unacceptable. We know these children have more risk of being abused in State care, we know these children taken into state care tend to turn up in our prisons, we know that we are not supporting vulnerable parents to help them be the best parents they can be.
That this regularly involves burly police officers carrying distraught and screaming children from their family home is a fact which Oranga Tamariki is very keen to keep from the public.
Labour need to dump KiwiBuild, using free market solutions to fix a problem created by the free market is like bailing water into a sinking ship.
