Civilians in Aleppo and across Syria are being intensively bombed by Russia with bunker bombs, phosphorous bombs, napalm, thermobaric and cluster bombs; and by the Syrian regime with chlorine containing barrel bombs; targetting homes, schools, hospitals, rescue teams, and underground shelters .
It’s a dazzle of gay anthems, clever staging, great actors and soul. The juxtaposition of queer culture and outback Australia is still powerful and works brilliantly on stage. The performances are wonderful, the singing and dancing top notch and the speed with which they must be changing costumes back stage is close to a magic act in itself.
We have been truly saddened today by the news of Helen Kelly’s passing. Her dedication to good jobs and good lives for working people was total. Her leadership – especially in this last year of her terminal illness – was inspiring. We salute her for the life she gave and the lives she has saved. This Labour Weekend will be hers. Rest in Peace Helen.

The over intellectualisation of Art is a rich mine for comedy and Jesse Griffin’s performance as a performance artist is so perfectly timed and understated it leaves you howling with mirth. It’s super clever comedy but with enough access points that you don’t need to be the self involved wanker that Centaur is to appreciate the comedy.
