  1. Good points. Just for the record I think Bertie works at the Rangiuru plant not the Wairoa plant but this does not change the points made in the blog. There are many many new leaders that Helen inspired and encouraged who will be our leaders of the future.

  2. Well , Helen certainly has been a catalyst for a lot of things , I get the feeling there is a movement underfoot among workers at present as well, perhaps this is in reaction to this anti union , corporate friendly Key led National govt…

Whatever it is , … somethings starting to change.

There’s been a few more public strikes occurring. And at present there is the junior doctors .

And then this curious issue of Hekia Parata suddenly resigning , some suggesting it was because she could not bring herself to implement certain initiatives that National are planning for education in the near future… so it looks like there will be a showdown between the govt and the education sector .

    Unions.

The only way to go to prevent the rorters and the manipulators and the corporate pirates from riding roughshod over the people who make up the working employed populace of this country.

Let union growth and activity be the legacy left to us from Helen Kelly.

  3. I returned from overseas a number of years ago and I saw Helen being interviewed on the TV for the first time, not knowing who she was, she was eloquently tearing Paul Henry a new one. I thought wow she is Prime Minister material!

My thoughts are with her family and friends.
