Donald Trump joked around with the room of journalists whom he again accused of producing “fake news” as he hurled insults at his political enemies in a speech at the White House correspondents’ dinner.
A day after the Trump administration abandoned, for now, an extraordinary bid to subpoena reporters over their coverage, the US president attended the rescheduled White House correspondents’ dinner – an annual celebration of press freedom – in Washington on Friday evening.
It came three months after the original event was scrapped in April when a man fired a shotgun at a security checkpoint outside the ballroom.

That’s 1 laugh every 20 minutes.

Trump, more than any other President before him, has abused the Fourth Estate, attacked the Fourth Estate and threatened the Fourth Estate in ways that are an affront to Democracy, so him speaking to the White House correspondents’ dinner was less humour and more open malice.
Donning a hat claiming he will illegally run for a 3rd term after January 6th isn’t a joke. It’s a threat.
Trump is not smart enough to be a Nazi, but he is dumb enough to be a Fascist Thug.
Watching a fascist thug attempt stand up comedy is like a rotting corpse tap dancing, you’re never sure when to duck.
