6 different ways to respond to Paul Henry that would have been far better than Labour’s pearl clutching po faced humourlessness

Look.
We ALL want to give Paul Henry a kicking, but come on. Conflating his Marry, Shag, Shoot and manufacturing outrage to frame it as a ‘death threat’ is just pearl clutching po faced humourlessness…
A Labour MP is accusing Act’s Paul Henry of making a “death threat” against leader Chris Hipkins in a radio game, but the former broadcaster says there was no “violent rhetoric” and it was “plainly humour”.
The comments have outraged some within the Labour Party.
Health spokeswoman Dr Ayesha Verrall was speaking on Newstalk ZB’s Wellington Morningswith Nick Mills when she said Henry’s comments were “absolutely disgusting”.
She called the interaction an “inappropriate game” and wanted to call out Henry for saying he’d shoot Hipkins.
“We can’t just let death threats go in our political conversation. There are nutters out there who feed off these sort of things, and one day we can be in the situation which the UK is in where Members of Parliament lose their lives. We have to have standards in how we talk about this.”
National MP Tim Costley, appearing alongside Verrall, said it was up to Act leader David Seymour to decide whether Henry’s comments amounted to a sackable offence.
“I would never expect to see that. I can imagine if that was a National Party MP, the Prime Minister would have some words,” Costley said.
Verrall interjected to say: “Tim, it’s a death threat. Just condemn it.”
NZME
…’Tim, it’s a death threat”. Oh come on.
You can almost hear Ayesha demanding to see the manager.
Easy Karen. Your singing was a way worse crime than Paul Henry’s Marry, Shoot, Shag answers.
The person asking the question of Paul was hollow cheeked private school rich boy Jeremy Welles who co-hosts the most light weight current affairs program in history at the alter of mediocrity that is Seven Sharp FFS!
Is Labour seriously suggesting that Jeremy Welles is part of a conspiracy to murder the leader of the Opposition?
Really?
That would be the most Political Jeremy has been in over 2 decades. Why the sudden alt-right radicalisation? Is he listening to The Platform and Reality Check Radio 24/7?
Look, you don’t beat Paul Henry with outrage olympics, you beat him with better jokes.
Crying death threat makes you look weak and reminds everyone of woke cancel culture Lynch mobs.
That’s not something the Left wants the electorate remembering.
Here are the 6 responses tailored for each Party opposing him.
Chris Hipkins – “I’d rather be shot than marry or shag Paul Henry”
Greens – “Ok Boomer”
TOP – “Sad Dad Jokes don’t fix public transport, housing or tax”
Te Pati Māori – “Imagine if a Māori candidate said they would shoot the PM”
NZ First – “Everyone has a Stuart Nash”
Luxon – “I’m already married to Jesus”
Outrage Olympics with Paul Henry don’t work.
I think he will get ACT into double digits and that will all come from National.
