How is this ‘growth’ even remotely good?

I just don’t even understand what the bloody hell this is supposed to be…
An Auckland councillor has criticised fast-track approval for a controversial 1217-home development in Εrewa, saying it will cost ratepayers millions in infrastructure and shouldnβt go ahead.
The project involves trucking treated effluent to WhangΔrei because Watercare will not be able to connect any water services to the area until at least 2050.
Stuff
…The Εrewa fast-track approval will see 1200 homes without any sewage infrastructure until 2050 and the Sunfields fast tracked program (from a developer who donated to National) is being built on floodplains without any infrastructure!
Fast track approval for housing development – on a flood plain
One of Auckland’s largest new housing developments – the Sunfield “masterplanned community” near Ardmore airport in South Auckland has been the go-ahead under fast track provisions.
The plan developer, Winton, envisages nearly 4 thousand homes, a town centre, retail and healthcare buildings, three retirement villages and approximately 26 hectares of parks and reserves and ecological areas.
The regional development minister, Shane Jones, says the new it’ll deliver up to $3.2 billion to the economy and support more than 24,000 jobs over the 10 – 15 year building period.
But concerns have been raised about the fact it sits on a flood plain and the area doesn’t have extensive transport, water and sewerage infrastructure needed to support it.
The Fast Track panel that gave the go ahead did attach a number of conditions including the need for storm water and drainage management plans.
RNZ
How is building in places without sewage connection for 24 years and building on floodplains good for NZs housing stock?
All this ‘development’ while the Government insists that their $140m housing promise is still on track despite only 18% of social homes being built…
Just 270 of 1500 social homes built to date after First Home Grant axed to fund them
The Housing Minister insists the Government is on track to deliver social housing funded by the cancellation of the First Home Grant and promised by the middle of next year.
Chris Bishop secured $140 million in Budget 2024 for community housing providers to deliver and operate 1500 new social homes by June 30, 2027.
It was funded by ditching the grant of up to $5000 (or $10,000 for a new build) available for first home buyers.
But according to a new progress report from the Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport (MCERT), just 18% of the promised social homes had been delivered by June 30 β halfway through the budgeted time frame.
Stuff
…National promised to build an additional 1,500 homes through Budget 2024, they’ve only built 263 while 19 704 wait for state housing – why does National hate poor people so much?
The Government canceled 3500 planned state house builds and have sold off 800 state houses – why does National love private landlords so much?
By destroying social housing, the Government keeps the desperation that allows landlord scumbags to exploit renters
All this Government is focused on doing is creating policy for donor real estate pimps to run roughshod over environmental and infrastructure regulations to build ill thought out and designed houses on the cheap.
No one on the Right is prepared to do anything meaningful on housing.

So now we are going to truck shit up the 30 billion road to whangarei .Why cant all of those houses have composting toilets and grey water sprayed onto the gardens?Oh I forgot there is no room for a garden on a 300sqm section .
NZ voters elected a government to lower taxes. The coalition did that in their first year and ever since their entire focus has been on reducing government spending to match the reduced tax take. Nothing else – that is the entire direction and intent of all their policies.
We the voters chose this – we want it – we want less spending on housing and infrastructure – we asked for that explicitly when we chose tax cuts.
We asked for a reduction in healthcare services and education resources. We the NZ population want to pay more in the private sector to get less or go without completely. That is how democracy and a low tax economy operates.
Yes common sense tells you that you can not reduce income and have the same level of spending .Since 1970 we have had a focus on reducing the tax take ever since it was decided to flip from higher tax rates for high earners to taxing the bottom feeders .You will never get ahead taxing people that have nothing left to tax .We are speeding to the bottom of the cliff faster than ever as we are now well over the cliff top .
I can see privatising the profits and socialising the losses big time on Orewa
It’s the same dumb irresponsible lack of ability, lack of knowledge, lack of critical thinking, lack of any form of plain straight out commonsense, as the Nikki- No- Boats ferry fuckup.
This is a really really really dumb ideologically warped ignorant government….when are people going to wake up to that fact?
So who got the back-hander here? How about some transparency β this has to be a ridiculous legacy to leave for the next govt to sort. Someone knows the full details, so should be alerting the tax/rate payers! Of course this project should not be allowed to go ahead β it’s monstrous and stinks! βThe Εrewa fast-track approval will see 1200 homes without any sewage infrastructure until 2050 and the Sunfields fast tracked program (from a developer who donated to National) is being built on floodplains without any infrastructure!β Just ignore what Shane Jones has to say β he is so damned corrupt so anything that drivels from his mouth should be treated as suspicious! I imagine it will get worse by the day until this dodgy rabble go β and they simply must be voted out! Shame on this CoC’s stupidity, and again β GREED!
Itβs probably less of a back-hander and more like a reach-around.
This is why we have developed the consent process, to stop such foolishness.
The intelligence of those who seek to build and expedite these schemes has to be questioned.
They should be assessed by psychologists actually. There appears to be a fair bit of insanity in our present govt.
Mad for money!
