Graham Platner officially withdraws candidacy for US Senate in Maine
Paperwork ends Democratic campaign laden with scandals, including most recently accusations of sexual assault

For Republicans post-Trump, allegations of sexual assault are almost mandatory, for the Democrats however, B-E-L-I-E-V-E ALL WOMAN is still a matter of faith that takes on a Salem Witch Trial magnitude.
Democrats recognised that their woke identity politics cancel culture caused an enormous backlash and they struggled to find a working class voice that would connect with the rage generated by late stage capitalism and the Democrats refusal to do anything meaningful in the economic reality of the working classes.
Platner looked like that candidate. An oyster farmer and former Marine Veteran, his journey of PSTD trauma suggested a diamond in the rough who could speak to the pain of the working class.
The rawness of his struggle with addictions was seen as a means to create an authenticity that many elites Democrats lacked.
Unfortunately his vetting ignored the reality of where we are post MeToo.
We live in an age of Social Media Hate Algorithms where there is no forgiveness.
No agreement that people can change, no mercy, no due process.
The weaponisation of allegation allows a free hand to burn any candidate and the Democrats, in their rush to find the authenticity they lacked, picked a damaged person they didn’t fully consider.
With Platner set alight, Republican incumbent senator Susan Collins has a perfect chance of holding Maine.
The irony is that Maine is one of the best chances to take back the Senate and hold Trump to actual account past the Midterms.
Trump must be laughing.

This is such a perfect example of how Democrats’ own cancel culture came back to bite them. They threw away a winnable Senate seat just to cling to the toxic no-forgiveness narrative of post-MeToo woke politics.
