Dumb Lives Matter mutates into Dumb Cars Matter protests

The fuel tax protests erupting across New Zealand feel less like a coherent economic movement and more like the latest mutation of the anti-vax protest ecosystem that camped on Parliament’s lawn.
Wow, the Dumb Lives Matter Parliament Lawn Protest movement has mutated into Dumb Cars Matter petrol protests…
Protest in Auckland’s Victoria Park against fuel taxes
Protesters are calling for the government to halve the fuel excise tax and Road User Charges (RUCs), but the transport minister says to do so would take funding away from roading.
Advocacy group Fuel Tax Protest NZ earlier told media it had coordinated more than 40 protests across the country on Saturday.
In a Saturday evening video on social media, Fuel Tax Protest NZ national spokesperson Phil Barrett said there had been protests at more than 50 locations across the country, but RNZ was unable to verify that number.
An RNZ reporter found a handful of people gathered at one of the protests, at the Auckland’s Victoria Park.
…it’s the exact same style of placards they used for the COVID protests, I think that font is called ‘anti-vax’.
Why do fuel tax protests keep borrowing anti-vax aesthetics?
It’s confusing that so many of the former anti-vaxxers now turned fuel price protesters were carrying around New Zealand flags.
I’m not sure how nationalistic it is to have cheap petrol.
If petrol prices are the problem, where are the actual solutions?
You would think these folk would be calling for more EV subsidies, free public transport, flexible working from home options and the lowering of the road speeds to preserve fuel supplies, while also demanding a strongly-worded rebuke to America and Israel for this illegal war with Iran. But no, unsurprisingly it’s all reduce the tax with none of the follow through.
I’m expecting this new mutation of the anti-vax movement to be demanding an end to cycleways and ban everyone from wearing a helmet because they are like a facemask for the brain.
I’m just waiting for someone to write up a list of politicians who should be hung in a Nuremberg-styled trial over potholes.

Are these protesters simply wanting cheaper petrol for workers?
When the Auckland mayor brings in full surveillance congestion charges to regressively tax workers, will it be these guys that become the Blade Runners? (Youtube search “The Blade Runners Of London”)
Gst off food! Let workers claim a tax deduction for the cost of getting to work!
