The 18-year-old suspect in one of Canada’s deadliest rampages reportedly grew up around guns and had a history of police visits to her home to check on her mental health.

Eight people died and more than 25 wounded in two shootings in the small mountain community of Tumbler Ridge on Tuesday (local time).

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Deputy Commissioner Dwayne McDonald said Jesse Van Rootselaar first killed her mother and stepbrother at the family home before attacking the nearby school, where six people died. Van Rootselaar was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted wound.

Van Rootselaar was born a biological male, but identified as a female, authorities said.

We all pray it’s another Republic white male loner, but this time it’s been a Trans person and that’s gone down about as well as Donald Trump and a Vegan Lesbian Folk Music Festival.

The Right will point to the Zizians, Charlie Kirks assassin (for dating a Trans person) and the 2023 Nashville school shooting as ‘proof’ of some type of ‘Trans Terrorism’.

Gender Critical Feminists are screaming the media are manipulating the crime stats by recording this as a female murder when the person who committed the shootings was biologically male as if that’s the most crucial issue right now.

Of the 201 mass shooters in the database, its single transgender perpetrator represents half a per cent of all shootings.

“Transgender perpetrators are under-represented in the data, not overrepresented,” Densley said.

The Gun Violence Archive runs a similar U.S. mass shooting database, and founding director Mark Bryant said it identified seven transgender mass shooters since it began tracking in 2013.

“The reality is, seven out of 4000 (mass shootings) is a very small number,” Bryant said, adding that transgender people accounted for no more than one per cent of mass shootings in the last decade, according to the database.

According to Statistics Canada, transgender and non-binary people over the age of 15 represent 0.33 per cent of the population. In the U.S. they represent about one per cent of the population.

“Associating an entire marginalized group with mass violence based on a statistically negligible number of cases has a long and ugly history,” Densley said. “In each case, the perceived pattern said more about the politics of the moment than about any actual causal relationship.”

Over the past year, trans activists accounted for 14% of reported murders and are the second most targeted group globally, following sex workers. The year-on-year rise in murders of trans activists shows this is an attempt to silence those fighting for trans rights worldwide.

281 trans and gender diverse people were reported murdered between 1 October 2024 and 30 September 2025.
Since 2009, TGEU’s monitoring has now recorded 5322 murders worldwide.
Sex workers (34%) remain the most targeted group of all known occupations.
There is a notable rise in murders of activists and movement leaders, who are the second most targeted group by occupation this year, accounting for 14% of cases (up from 9% in 2024 and 6% in 2023).
Echoing the pattern of previous years, 90% of reported murders were feminicides (victims were trans women or transfeminine people).
88% of victims were Black or Brown trans people, a 5% decrease from the all-time high last year (93%).
Age distribution: 24% of murder victims were aged 19–25, 25% aged 26–30, 26% aged 31–40, and 5% under 18.
68% of murders occurred in Latin America and the Caribbean; Brazil leads the list for the 18th consecutive year with 30% of total cases.
Five cases were reported in Europe, down from eight in 2024.
31 cases were reported in the United States, down from 41 in 2024.
44% of reported murders were shootings.
25% of murders occurred on the street, and 22% occurred in the victim’s own home.
