Luxon is ignoring the basics, not fixing them!
The Prime Minister claimed in his opening speech in Parliament yesterday that National was ‘fixing the basics’, which is a joke, he’s ignoring them!

Pretending he is somehow looking after the basics when he is vandalising the economy and society is eye rolling in its mendacity and sophistry.

Christopher Luxon hits lowest popularity in past year as leaked poll reveals souring public mood
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has sunk to his lowest popularity in the past year, with a leaked poll showing more voters disapprove of him than approve – even after quelling leadership speculation and internal grumbling at the end of 2025.
The January Taxpayers’ Union-Curia poll puts Luxon’s net favourability at -17%, down four points from December and the weakest result in the survey’s tracking since January last year.
Just 28% of voters view him favourably, while 44% hold an unfavourable opinion. The slump takes Luxon past his previous low point of -14% in October, when the Government was battling cost-of-living pressures and a run of damaging headlines.

The reason Luxon ignores the basics is simply because he doesn’t recognise them – they are not part of his persona! He has no personality, no sense of humour, no moral fortitude – in fact he is the most uninspiring, truly boring PM NZ has ever had and a self-absorbed narcissist to boot! Unless it’s a photo-shoot opportunity, Luxon completely misses the signals. In the past two years he has failed miserably to recognise that there are two extremes in NZ – one so poor it can hardly hold itself up, while the other revels in the biased monetary gains as well as extra ‘benefits’ from this CoC. The system is so cruel on the workers while the ‘sorted’ swan around pretending they have earned what they have! No wonder they are falling over themselves to vote this deceitful, corrup CoC back in. Way past time for some REAL FAIRNESS in incomes, taxes and benefits. And CoC, FGS STOP the FAST-TRACK NONSENSE – it will, and is already, backfiring on you! I love Martyn’s comment on Luxon, “He is the political kiss of death”.
Let’s not kid ourselves…..Luxon has not, and will not ,fix anything, except fixing himself a larcenous tax free profit on the houses that he’s flipped.
He’s just, yet another, mumbo jumbo word salad corporate, who, for some mystifying reason, thinks he has the ability to run a country by ‘chunking down’ ‘the low hanging fruit’ whilst ‘top shelfing’ a ‘broad scope’ of ‘initiatives’ within the context of a ‘big agenda’ without ‘dialoguing’ an ‘intellectual conversation’ about the ‘imponderables’….’going forward’.
He plans to ‘lean into’ all that is ‘on the table ‘with his ‘incredible team’ of know nothing ‘change agents’ to ‘tease out’ how he has fucked everything up so badly in less than two years by ‘siloing’ the many ‘agendas’ that his ‘incredible team’ are ‘not fit for purpose’ for and ‘initiate’ a ‘review’ to find ‘causal synergies’ that have inhibited the ‘game changing’ ‘initiatives’…. ‘within this space.’
