28 more killed and 179 wounded

Since dawn, Israeli air strikes, missile launches and gunfire on homes, as well as medical and other facilities, have resulted in 28 dead and 179 wounded. Civil Defence crews retrieved 5 more bodies from bomb-destroyed buildings, bringing the total number now killed in Gaza, since 7 October 2023, to at least 54,084. The total wounded is now at least 123,308. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 90 and, that of those injured, is more than 206. A UN report states that, as of 14 January 2025, around 70% of those killed in Gaza were women and children.

Key Highlights

• 600 days on, people in Gaza, half of whom are children, face a crisis of survival. The Humanitarian Country Team in the Occupied Palestinian Territory warns that the new militarised distribution system does not meet the needs or dignity of people in Gaza, puts them at risk, and runs contrary to humanitarian principles.
• Over 632,000 people have been displaced again since 18 March, as more than 30 displacement orders have pushed people into an ever-shrinking space, with immense physical and psychological toll.
• The health system in Gaza is overwhelmed by a further decline in the number of functional and accessible health service points and a critically insufficient bed capacity.
• At least 28 aid workers have been killed in Gaza since 1 May, an average of one aid worker killed per day. Since 7 October, at least 452 aid workers, including 315 UN staff, have been killed.
• Nearly 700,000 women and girls are facing a silent menstrual hygiene emergency, with severe consequences to their health, protection, dignity, and human rights.

West Bank

Palestinian Monitoring Group — Since midnight on 07 October 2023, Occupation forces have been imposing a complete closure around the whole of the West Bank, preventing people (even including permit-holders) from entering both Jerusalem City as well as Israel, other than for especially-negotiated exceptions. Permanent military checkpoints impose severe travel restrictions within the Occupied West Bank.

Israeli Army attacks – plunder – 4 taken prisoner: Jenin – Israeli Occupation forces, firing live ammunition, continue to storm the city and the refugee camp. They raided the shops of the Gulf Exchange Company and Fakhr al-Din Exchange, and evacuated the Headquarters of the Western Islamic Bank, taking prisoner four people, as well as plundering Gulf Exchange Company shops next to the bank and seizing property.

Israeli Army attacks – plunder – 5 taken prisoner: Tulkarem – Israeli forces, continuing their storming and opening fire in the city as well as the Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps, issued demolition orders against 20 apartment buildings and raided the Gulf Exchange Company, Al-Fakher Exchange shops, Beit Al-Maqdis Exchange shops and Al-Malak Exchange shops, takingprisoner five people and plundering the business and a home of large amounts of cash.

Israeli Army attacks – 12-year-old child wounded: Qalqiliya – 09:20, the Israeli Army, firing live ammunition while raiding the city, wounded a 12-year-old child: Hassan Abdel Wahab Qaraan.

Israeli Army attacks – 1 wounded: Qalqiliya – 01:55, Israeli troops, firing live ammunition, raided Jit village, wounding a resident: Jassim Ibrahim Darwish Al-Sadda.

Israeli Army attacks – 1 killed – 9 wounded – plunder: Nablus – 09:20–12:15, the Israeli military stormed the city, killing a resident, Mahmoud Faisal Taher Kharaz, as well as wounding nine others while raiding the shops of the Gulf Exchange Company and Al-Ashqar Jewelry shops and plundering cash from them. The nine wounded are: Ihab Maher Qaraan, Islam Muhammad Akoub, Ahmed Samih Hassan, Nidal Issam Sharay’a, Ahmed Ziad Daghlas, Yamen Firas Qassem, Muhammad Amel Abu Al-Hayat, Hani Muhammad Amin Darwish and Fadi Walid Qassem Shaqo.

Israeli Army complicity with settler arson attack: Ramallah – 12:30, Israeli Occupation forces, firing stun grenades, invaded the Marj Sa’i’ Plain area, between the villages of al-Mughayir and Khirbet Abu Falah, in support of raiding settlers who had set fire to wheat crops. One journalist, Issam Al-Rimawi, was severely tear-gassed during the raid.

Israeli Army agricultural sabotage: Ramallah – the Israeli military uprooted 20 fruit-bearing olive trees and bulldozed a barbed-wire fence, near the northern entrance to the town of Sinjil.
