Woman who falsely accused US college athletes of rape admits she lied
The woman who in 2006 falsely accused three Duke University lacrosse players of raping her – making US headlines that stirred tensions about race, class and the privilege of college athletes – has admitted publicly for the first time that she made up the story.
Crystal Mangum, who is black, said in an interview with the “Let’s Talk with Kat” podcast that she “made up a story that wasn’t true” about the white players who attended a party where she was hired to perform as a stripper “because I wanted validation from people and not from God.”
“I testified falsely against them by saying that they raped me when they didn’t and that was wrong,” Mangum, 46, said in the interview, which was released Monday. The interview was recorded last month at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women, where Mangum is incarcerated for fatally stabbing her boyfriend in 2011.
The former Duke players were declared innocent in 2007 after Mangum’s story fell apart under legal scrutiny.

This B-E-L-I-E-V-E ALL WOMEN mantra has led to a change in our sexual assault laws here in NZ where the Greens and Labour removed the only defence to rape so as to get more convictions, which when you think about it, isn’t actually justice, it’s gerrymandering the law to ensure more accused are found guilty.
The argument by the woke is that women are so morally superior to men that they would NEVER lis about a sexual assault where as all men are broken and defective agents of the patriarchy and as such ALWAYS lie about sexual assault.
One of the reason’s why the Heard/Depp 2022 case was so explosive was because it was a backlash to the extremes of the #MeToo movement.
Heard epitomised the #MeToo movement, after promising the ACLU $3.5m to be their new ambassador, the ACLU pitched the op-ed to The Post and ghostwrote it for her while she made herself the face for domestic violence while destroying Depp’s reputation.
Heard was the girl who cried wolf when girls crying wolf was culturally rewarded amongst the woke middle class on Twitter.
Men didn’t fear a witch hunt post MeToo because Harvey Weinstein clearly proved there were monsters out there to hunt, what men feared was a witch trial, and this desire to convict on nothing more than the word of a woman (because women are morally superior to men and would never lie because you know, ‘patriarchy’), was the reason why the Amber Heard and Johnny Depp trial became the backlash moment it’s exploded into.

Despite your hysteria over fanatical Christians the book includes some good advice in Mt 5:28 that will keep any man out of trouble. In essence if we stop thinking of females as sex objects we will not get into situations where any false allegations can be made. It also makes life a whole lot easier as females have different personalities with some being more outgoing than others so if they are talkative then that is great but don’t take it as a sign that she has desires for you and over time you will build up a great friendship. If she is reserved then respect her boundaries and over time as she learns that you can be trusted you will get on a lot better. Woman often have better insight into the character of other people so their opinions are worth knowing.
Some people (male or female) can be very difficult to relate to in which case you can respect yourself because you know that your intentions are honest and not get upset about what they might think of you.
I assume by “book” and Mt: 5:28 you refer to the buybull.
Its other good advice is to stone to death women who misbehave, and it provides the rules by which you can beat slaves (so long as they don’t die within a day or two of the beating) and keep the offspring of your female slaves as your property in perpetuity, even after you are obliged to release their mothers. Also clear examples for all to emulate on seizing the virgin daughters of one’s enemies but slaughtering all the rest of their folk.
All good wholesome principles to keep menfolk on the ethical straight and narrow.
Thanks for the lecture… I might add that generalisations are notare not what’s needed, or the assumption that the “sex object” aspect has become both a dangerous thought process, and the process of finding love has become a minefield for those of the “male” species who do possess a moral compass, and who have been victimised, or know someone who has, and so the isolating of males from females, and vice versa gathers pace as time flows onward…
And yet, we now have the danger that our children are now being manipulated by those we used to trust to teach our childrren skills for later life, in the workforce, or whatever the calling might be… Are you going to say thet exposing children to overt, and blatantly sexual displays by men dressed as women, and who, it sems, have been given more rights to influence our children than we have…
Earth to narrow, self serving bigots… These are CHILDREN!!! Sex and sexuality are issues that should be addressed when those young minds have gotten to a level of maturity that enables them to not become utterly misled, and manipulated by people I wouldn’t want near my children.. This is the cause of a lot of family court cases and men being kicked out of home because the woman tells the cops she has been assulted when in fact its a lie to get the man out of the house and make him out to be a shit father .

And in this case justice was served, she lost the court case. Is terrible and a crime to lie about rape but did you ever think to ask why her story was initially believable? Not because it’s a rare occurrence right. Men, if you think it’s because women lie about these crimes more than they are actually proven to occure you are a women hating incel with a she-done-me-wrong chip on your shoulder you need to get over.
Cool it Comet; adopt the 10 deep breaths and a minute’s pause before bursting forth. And read some history of past world-wide tragedies of war and injury – it is in all our natures and has to be individually fought. Not just women against men; it is conquering oneself in each person and the one minute thought is constantly needed as when deciding how to deal with problems around identity and sexual.
Please leave the word ‘woke’ out of it.
This “believe the complainant” [i.e. child or woman] movement has been active for decades, well before the term woke was even in parlance and use of that term misdirects attention from the problem.
The Peter Ellis case was an egregious early result of this push to believe all complaints.
I assisted in running the advocacy archive and website PeterEllis.org for over a decade and that site archived dozens of case studies of wrongful and malicious rape/sexual assault accusations and subsequent acquittals in NZ. In the interest of justice the site voluntarily went dark when the Supreme Court was finally considering the Ellis case, but it can probably be found somewhere in the Ether by those who know how to use way-back machines.
I think that hysteria would be the best word to describe the way things were happening in Christchurch around the creche and Peter Ellis. It seemed like the media was finding as many fruit loop parents to make outrageous allegations as possible along with the repressed memories industry so Peter never had a chance of a fair trial.
I agree Bonnie, a popular slogan of the period was “Believe the children” and pushed relentlessly by the sexual abuse counselling industry whilst they filled out lump sum ACC compensation forms to collect $30,000 per allegation.
Looked at on a larger mega-screen, the women are right about anything they say, is just another play or ploy that matches up with the current obsessions whether external or internal, that ignore what is reasonable and fair and leading to good outcomes. That statement is so mild and unexciting, unalarming that it’s almost tl:dr.
We are being broken on the rack of the bloody internet and new devices of all sorts, drones for instance, facial recognition, and….name your own ‘beef’. It could be beef in reality – whether you should be vegetarian, whether the beef sold is full of chemicals, whether they fart too much and add to global warming! Everything has additional concerns attached to it these days – the complexity resulting from governmental and society changes make us all develop some response that means change in itself.
Something that gathers distressed and emotional people together like wokeness could be sourced in the constant feed 24 hours available of news and scary films and games about people struggling against problems; hurting and assaulting each other sets up unease and that leads to dis-ease of the mind. Look at the list and realise how complex our individual lives can be, then affected by the random blows of government and its contractors, large business. The scale may be correct, right in every way but it is a good approach to understanding how we are stressed in these days with more occurring hourly.
