  1. A well expressed tribute , it is important that we give thanks to people
who spend so much time working for the greater good.

  2. I’m sure those cops were investigated for the bashing albeit on top of a shield with that good man underneath. NOT!

  3. Mr Minto, what a heart-felt tribute to a wonderful man. Looking at your profile I think you fit the same mould in terms of decency. sincerity and fighting such a good cause. I am disgusted at the treatment Mr O’Dea received in 1981 at the hands of the cops. If it had been the other way around – four protesters doing this to one cop they would have been sent to jail for a very long time but yet again, the cops get away with doing it to someone else.

  4. I never had the pleasure of meeting the man unfortunately, but I heard from all sorts of folks that his brand of solidarity was one to aspire to.

Thanks for the heartfelt words John. History will look kindly on Jimmy.

    1. As someone too young to have experienced Bastion Point or The 81 Tour. Hearing about people like Jimmy, strengthens my conviction and pride that I am Socialist

  5. Jimmy was there then and was there every time people were needed for the frontline in struggle for the poorest and most marginalised.

May his spirit live on in the hearts of all who feel similarly.

  6. Dad lived a colourful life and never minced his words. He was an avid reader and a popular figure at a protest, picket line and on talk back radio. He always seeked the truth, never took any crap and stood up the underdog. He also had a heart of gold and a smile for those he met. Thanks John.
