Up to $29 million worth of aid provided by New Zealand is held up on the Gaza border by Israel, says the Palestine Solidarity Network Aotearoa.
PSNA says this aid is loaded on some of the 9,000 aid trucks sitting ready to try to lift the Israeli created famine. Three months ago, Israel cut off all food, medicine, fuel, and nearly all water supplies entering Gaza.
Famine has begun and the UN has cited 14,000 babies at imminent risk of starving to death. It estimates 600 truckloads of aid a day is necessary to feed the people in Gaza. Gaza’s own food production has been destroyed by Israel.
Some 70 percent of Gaza is already occupied by Israel or under Israeli evacuation orders.
New Zealand Foreign Minister, Winston Peters last week said the humanitarian situation in Gaza is ‘simply intolerable’.
But PSNA Co-Chair, John Minto says that since then, as Israel refused to allow more than a trickle of aid into Gaza, and instead escalated its already horrific military onslaught, Peters’ only public statement has been to offer condolences for the shooting of two Israeli diplomats in Washington.
“Our government’s selective indifference to mass murder is making all of us complicit.”
Minto says New Zealand has taken a lead in the past and must do so again.
“Our government should be advocating internationally for the enforcement of a protective no-fly zone over Gaza, and a multinational military protection for aid convoys so they can go into Gaza whether Israel approves them or not.”
“At home we should be sending Israel an equally clear message. We must send the Israeli ambassador packing and immediately sanction Israel by ending all trade and other links,” Minto says.
“As each day passes with no concrete action from New Zealand, our government is linking us with the most massive and ongoing war crime of the 21st century.”
“Our government will never live down it’s complicity but might salvage some credibility by acting now.”

Hamas accepted a US a US draft proposal for a temporary, 60 day, ceasefire deal, the deal included the release of ten of the Israeli hostages, five at beginning of the 60 days and five at the end of the 60 days, the deal also included a guarantee by the US to keep Israel at the negotiating table during the ceasefire to try and negotiate a permanent ceasefire deal and an end to war, and IDF withdrawal from Gaza, Israel rejected the US draft proposal. The US rewrote their ceasefire draft proposal to include Israel’s specific demand that the IDF remain and fully occupy the Gaza Strip and that the war continue after the 60 days with no negotiations during the ceasefire. Hamas rejected it.
If we’re getting “lies of omission” I see you didn’t mention that one of Hamas’s ceasefire demands was stopping current aid distribution and nobody will agree to that. There can only be one reason for that demand and that is that Hamas wants to control it so they can control the Gazan people – and “protestors” like you and John Minto are enabling that, just as you’re enabling their military strategy of using Gazans as human shields.

I didn’t know this, but in the British parliament it seems you can’t verbally vote no to a bill, if you haven’t put your name in witing as being opposed to it. ie. If you havein’t indicated your opposition to the bill, you can’t vote against it.

Why aren’t our opposition MPs taking our government to task in the same manner?
Why aren’t our opposition MPs putting up bills, like the Irish opposition MPs did, to get the government to offically recognise that genocied is being committed by Israel in Gaza?
In my opinion if our opposition MPs had the gumption to take the government to task over the genocide in Gaza, we would witness the same reluctance by government MPs to go on the record as ‘Genocide Deniers’.
So why is is not happening?
I have to divide my opponents up above between fools and scumbags, though I think they are all fools.
