Air strikes: Heavy aerial bombardment on buildings, homes and many facilities.
Attacks: All over Gaza, there are air strikes, heavy gunfire, tank and artillery shelling, as well as missiles fired from Israeli forces and military occupation, especially in Khan Yunis. The Israeli Navycontinues to fire missiles, targeting facilities and buildings along the shoreline of the whole of Gaza.
Apologies for the missing numbers of victims in yesterday’s newsletter. The totals can be found, however, in the OCHA news in that same newsletter. Here are yesterday’s numbers:
Victims: 116 people killed in Gaza brings the total number of deaths since 7 October to at least 33,207. With another 47 wounded, that figure has risen to 75,933.
The latest numbers of victims for 8-9 April:
153 people killed in Gaza brings the total number of deaths since 7 October to at least 33,360. With another 60 wounded, that figure has risen to 75,993. Fully accurate statistics are not available,due to insecurity menacing hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
Khan Younis ‘smells like death’
as Palestinians return to devastated homes
“It smells like death,” says Maha Thaer, a mother of four, as she returns to her devastated home in Khan Younis after Israeli troops announced their withdrawal from southern Gaza. “We don’t have a city any more, only rubble. There is absolutely nothing left. I could not stop myself crying as I walked through the streets,” said the 38-year-old on Sunday. “All the streets have been bulldozed. And the smell . . . I watched people digging and bringing out the bodies,” said Thaer, whose home was partially destroyed.

Israeli Army attack – young woman shot dead: Tubas – 09:45, Occupation forces, at the Tayasir checkpoint, opened fire on and killed an 18-year-old woman, Asma Imad Abu Mohsen, accusing her of attempting to knife an Israeli soldier.
Israeli Army attacks – 1 wounded – 1 taken prisoner: Nablus – 03:00, Israeli Occupation forces, firing live ammunition, stormed Nablus as well as the Balata refugee camp, wounding a city resident, Moamen Jamil Muhammad Saqr, and taking prisoner one other person in the refugee camp.
Israeli Army attacks – 1 wounded – 1 taken prisoner: Jericho – 14:15, Israeli forces opened fire towards three people on Route 90, east of Jericho, wounding one of them, Muhammad Hussein Mahmoud Taybah, and taking him prisoner.
