A “tea break” in Israel’s genocidal slaughter is not enough – New Zealanders demand CEASEFIRE NOW!

At least 17 centres around Aotearoa New Zealand will be out protesting this weekend – from Rawene in the North to Invercargill in the South.

“This is the largest number of centres ever taking action as New Zealanders express their abhorrence at Israel’s genocidal rampage against Palestinians in Gaza” says PSNA National Chair John Minto. “People are stepping up where our political leaders are showing anti-Palestinian racism”

There is a “4-day pause” in Israel’s war on Gaza coming into force today but this is just a tea break in the ongoing genocide against Palestinians. We are demanding our political leaders call for Ceasefire NOW!

Labour and National leaders have condemned the killing of Israeli civilians but have refused point blank to condemn the slaughter of Palestinian civilians – over 15,000 killed so far including over 6,000 children – the equivalent of all the children in 23 average-sized New Zealand primary schools.

Meanwhile Israel bombed another United Nations school in Gaza today killing at least 27 but we won’t hold our breath for the mainstream media to report it anywhere other than in the fine print at the back of our papers or lumped in with the “statistics” reported elsewhere.

If an Israeli school were bombed killing 27 civilians our media would report in purple rage at such an atrocity. So why does our media treat Palestinians as lesser human beings?

There is no other word than genocide to describe the Gaza reality but when the media censors out “genocide” and “apartheid” from descriptions of Israel’s litany of crimes against the Palestinian people, it may make the pro-Israel lobby feel “safer” – but denies the reality of Palestinians’ lived experience.

The rallies, vigils and marches across 17 centres will again demand our government:

TDB Recommends NewzEngine.com

  • Condemn Israel’s genocidal attacks on Gaza
  • Call for an immediate ceasefire
  • Call for the Palestinian people in Gaza to be placed under immediate United Nations protection
  • Demand a swift investigation by the International Criminal Court into war crimes committed in Israel/Gaza since October 7th – including the crimes of genocide and apartheid
  • Kick out Israeli ambassador

It is the failure of western governments, New Zealand included, to hold Israel to account for its crimes against the Palestinian people that is behind Israel’s genocidal rampage in Gaza today.

The details of the rallies and marches around the country are on our facebook page here but basic details are included below.

    • Only for your soul Ada, to easy the tension/fear/anguish you may be holding in. To realize the horror that is unfolding is not of you and yours doing. Am expression against war, in these fubar jingoistic times.

    • You are probably right, but I believe Nelson Mandela said that finding out people on the other side of the world were protesting against apartheid in SA (during the 81 tour), it felt like the sun had come out, or something of that nature.

A bunch of people going out to protest the slaughter of innocent people almost gives you hope there’s some good left.

      • I agree with what Helen Clark says on this matter.

I do not want to see more violence in this or any other part of the world. Most families want a positive future and there is place for Israelis and Palestinian aspirations.

It is time for the world to demonstrate the will and determination to deal with this in a way that provides a future for all the people in that region. That will be a good start.

    • But to bow down to islamist terrorists….
Have you read the Hamas charter?, after the Jews, Christians are next!
Crush the fuckers now, Israel will do what needs to be done with little or no thanks unfortunately.
I for one will thank them for Hamas over playing it’s hand and ‘assuming’ all other Arabic countries would follow in behind them….big mistake, they didn’t!
They will now call for an end to the war and go away lick it’s wounds and stockpile more weapons.
Israel has to, and will, destroy the whole Hamas structure now.

      • Christian nationalism and Christian patriotism.
Do some research on that and you may start to understand where “Ignatius” is heading with his comment.
        Clue: not what you think.

  1. Genocide – They need you to know, because they need to make you complicit.

“….Their actual, actions make clear what their intentions are….
“…. However. While I think what they’re doing is clear, I do think it is also important to listen to the words that are being uttered by the Israeli politicians and authorities…..
“….there are countless examples that they have genocidal intentions. And the fact that Americans and the State Department
[and us] pretend like these statements aren’t being made, and these actions aren’t being taken, is ludicrous to me, to say the least.
So let’s start off with the Israeli President Isaac Hertsog….

You don’t pause a genocide, you stop it.

A genocide is being committed right before our eyes,
In their words and their deeds the Israeli authorities have told us with their words what they are intending to do and shown us with their actions what they are doing, committing the crime of genocide.
The Israeli authorities don’t hesitate from letting us know what they are intending and what they are doing,
They need to let us know, they need to tell us their intentions, because they need to make us complicit with their actions.

We all know a genocide is being committed, if we don’t act on this knowledge to stop it, then we are complicit.

If you don’t want to be complicit in genocide then ask the members of every civil society organisation you are a member of, every political party, every church or faith community, every sports team, every trade union, every knitting circle, and all your friends and community and family members to join you with you in raising your voice at the protest rallies around the country to extend the ceasefire and make it permanent.

You don’t pause a genocide you stop it.

Make your voice heard, demand the ceasefire be made permanent.

Make these the biggest protests against genocide this country has ever seen.

  2. A 4 day pause for Hamas to rearm and to steal more fuel and resources from Gazan civilians and you organize for village idiots in 17 NZ centres to support this Minto? Hey, you’ve already admitted you’re disappointed with current regression in South Africa. Your support for Islamic terrorism won’t help your diminishing legacy. Give it up.

    • You can’t eradicate Hamas unless you attack Qatar and Turkey.
They are certainly not going to hand over the Hamas leadership to Israel. This is nothing more than revenge, it may feel good but it will accomplish fuck all while many innocent people will continue to die.

    • All the IDF are doing is

      1. covering up Netanyahoos corruption and uselessness
      2. creating a new generation of Gazans who will fight even harder for their freedom.

The wheel of violence will keep turning until a solution is found that brings both groups peace and security

  3. Anti-Islam populist Geert Wilders has just won 37 seats in the Dutch parliament. I wonder how much of this can be attributed to all the disruption caused by the anti Israel protesters at their transport hubs.

  5. Israel is over among social media folk. But not much of us are. It will take a while. Israel was never right really.

If they want to be where they are now they’ll have to admit that immorality, like Germany about the Jews they killed.
