Q+A Review: Luxon Interview Train wreck crashes into school bus and Petting Zoo

It’s the Luxon interview.

I’ve always argued Luxon has a glass jaw, and that as a rich CEO he just barks orders at middle management and off he goes.

He ain’t been punched in the face. The Election will provide those moments.

Luxon got punched hard in the face!

State Housing: He’s walking public private partnerships and pushing State Housing builds into NGOs in what is an abdictaion of responsibility.

6000 new houses over 4 years? All he’s promising after beating up Kianga Ora is 6000 more houses? We have 25000 on the wait list, 6000 more is a fucking joke.

Where are the other 19 000 going?

He’s putting up $50million for private business to pitch for ‘social services’, the corporate gravy train is boarding now, platform 3.

TDB Recommends NewzEngine.com

He can not work out where all the people he is about to evict from Kianga Ora are going, the answer of course is prison, which his Coaltion Party wants to sink a billion into building up!

National will kick state tenants out onto the street, ACT will build them a prison to live in.

It’s the right wing circle of life.

Luxon argues these bottomfeeder ‘unruly’ Kianga Ora scumbags need to get the bash because the tax payer is providing them for a home, which is a charitable way of looking at it.

Another way of looking at it is that rich prick Landlords like him benefiting from a crooked system that is bent for the rich have an obligation to provide social housing for those the market exploits and that his party receiving millions from Real Estate Pimps to lift the Foreign Buyers Ban while gifting landlords the right to evict while giving them tax cuts funded by stealing from 2 years olds, mutilating public transport and literally robbing climate change funds is an abomination and pretending the State doesn’t have an obligation to house those failed by the market is just so fucking disingenuous!

I digress.

Jack is all over Luxon.

Luxon’s answers are amateurish. He refuses to acknowledge that its National’s policies that have exacerbated all the problems we have now, so how the Christ will more of National solve the problems National made worse?

Nothing he is suggesting will solve anything! NOTHING!

I like the electricity policy.

All his policy is stuff connected to donors whose interests are benefited by National’s changes FFS!

Jack notes that National are robbing our climate change funds to pay for rich landlord cut taxes. National will ruin the environment at a time when the environment urgently needs protecting!

He asks how National will be judged by the environmental movement.

Hilariously he said ‘Good’.

He has no policy here! Just carve outs for donors!

Jack destroys Luxon on National’s Foreign Buyers property tax joke.

Luxon refuses to release the modeliing that shows how they sell $20billion in foreign sales and we watch in horror as Luxon tries to hide showing it.

He looks like a rich man trying to lie to your face by hiding the report that shows the tax can’t work.

It’s brutal TV and Luxon looks flakey as hell under the high ball.

Jack comes back and demands, ‘you want to be Prime Minister but you won’t show us your tax advice”.

Luxon won’t because the modelling is bullshit and will expose the entire rich landlord tax cut is un-fundable!

Watching Luxon duck and dive the repeated question is glorious scrutiny and Luxon failed repeatedly and just reverted to talking points.

If this is what Luxon brings to the debates, he is going to trip over himself and knock himself out before Chippy throws the first punch!

National are promising the rich huge tax cuts funded by robbing from 2 year olds, mutilating public transport and literally stealing from climate funds and it’s all built upon the false premise National will generate $20billion in foreign sales revenue after they lift the foreign buyers restrictions for their Real Estate Pimp mates who are donating millions in donations to them.

It’s like a really Heteronormative ultra straight Game of Thrones but with more corruption and incest.

National can not release the modelling because it can’t back up National’s fake budget.

Does Luxon’s inability to answer basic questions about his fantasy world performance art Tax policy mean voters will overcome their anger towards Labour and vote Chippy to look after their interests better than National/ACT, who are currently bickering and threatening each other on how the Hard Right will hold New Zealand to ransom.

It’s hard to stay mad at Labour when the alternative is too busy threatening each other   on how they will maximise their interests while pretending to solve yours.

It’s 5 weeks until the 2023 election.

It ain’t over till the fat blogger sings.

  1. Yes Luxon’s lip licking , rapid eye blinking, involuntary rapid head nodding, twitchy wiggly smile performance should put every voter in New Zealand on notice that this guy is a fake, a fraud, a liar and a charlatan and is definitely not a Prime Minister in waiting !!!!

He is clueless and his weak… ” because i say so ” line is a pathetic way of projecting how he plans to run a country.

This is not some half state owned monopoly airline your now applying to run here Luxo!

It will go down as one of the worst performances of any politician… ever !!!

    • Grant that’s what you want to happen but it won’t.
I think Luxon will make a great Prime Minister and I think that because he’s an honest person which is more than can be said for Chippy.

      • You were obviously not listening and watching and most importantly, digesting, the slow motion car crash.

He lied all the way through and was given many many many opportunities to front up to the public of N.Z and explain the workings of their flawed cornerstone policy .

You know….the one for the ‘squeezed middeclass’…

Luxon and Willis stated when they announced their game changing, earth shattering, cornerstone policy, that they would allow Chinese ‘investors’ to buy up our houses over $ 2,000,000 so the middle class could treat themselves to a movie night out and some Ben and Jerry’s icecream rather than watching netflix and eating Tip Top at home. So puerile and simplistic is their thinking!!

Oh…the hardship for the squeezed middle class is unimaginable!

Go back and watch the tape.

Leaving information out is a form of lying and is deceitful.

He had his chances. He couldn’t take the pressure .

Kid yourself all you like, but all who saw that interview now know that Luxon is just a D grade actor trying to play the part of a politician!

        • I watched the interview, and I’m not a National voter, but your comments read like you wrote them before the interview. If you want to see lies and obfuscation, watch back over some of Jacinda Ardern’s interviews.

    • Grant, you forgot to say he was clenching his fist tight my partner picked up on that he said to me, ‘look at his fists’ akchully his body language was bad he needs to work on that he was also going red and that was earlier on in the interview.

  2. Basically Luxon is saying trust me we’ll make this work. To be fair here we trusted Labour for six years so on that basis alone Luxon should be given a go. IMO the interview showed more about Jack than Luxon. Maybe Jack might like to try and run the country He obviously believes his experts would be more trustworthy than Luxons experts. Jack liked the sound of his own voice.

    • You seem to think running the country is incredibly easy when it’s Labour doing it but now Luxon can’t answer questions and it’s all about the interviewer?

    • ” Basically Luxon is saying trust me we’ll make this work ”

Can’t you see what is wrong with that statement ?

Were you watching this interview ( actually watching )

The housing situation became a crisis during the last National led government after they denied there was even one occurring until the last minute and they just simply could not hide from the disaster unfolding.

Luxon is being asked pertinent questions regarding basic policy he has announced but simply refuses to provide the modelling. That all Tame was asking for after all Luxon and Willis and the rest of the degenerates want to govern the country so why not provide the information ?

If it was you and you wanted be credible you would answer the question and provide answers eh new view ?
Yeah LINO have been shite but Luxon and the Nasties think like they always do that they just have to get elected without being scrutinised cause we should just trust them.

The housing crisis won’t be solved by going back to 2008-17 like National wants to and just re apply what did not work last time and Luxon knows this or more tinkering by the idiots who are in now and and made it worse.

As long as they use market policies and want to keep the property owning class and real estate companies donating they will never solve the problem.

They have no intention of doing so and the Hobbits would be better to get to grips with that when they are thinking who of the major parties they should vote for.

  3. It’s why more and more former National voters are heading to vote ACT. Seymour (aka Rimmer), has concrete policy and a fully costed alternative budget. He can trivially answer all these types of quesations, and knows where the money will comes from.

    • Too funny…Rimmer is a 40y.o virgin with no life experience who idolises Boris Johnson and Liz Truss..a stuntman, bought and paid for by his venal..donors.

  4. Unfortunately a lot of people in this country have short memories and a stupid. They will fall for NActs smoke and mirrors and will probably fall for it again at the next elextion when they lie and say it is taking a long time to fix Labour’s stuff ups.
If Labour were clever and still not so embedded in Neo-Liberalism they would be making deals with the Maaori.Party in half the Maaori seats and with the Greens in Central Auckland.
Cups of tea in Epsom kept Seymour and ACT in government for years and look at the monster they have become.

  5. Luxon besides having a glass jaw has a anger issue, for a split second the true Luxon exposed himself. Exactly what the country doesn’t need.

  6. Marco we’re talking about Luxon not Marama or anyone else. And tbh I think many of us haven’t seen much worse than Luxon’s performance today. If the swing voters in my flat are anything to go by then the Nats better hope that 1News doesn’t run clips on news bulletins and everyone is focused on the rugby because this performance will haemorrage votes.

  7. Can you please tell me again Mr Luxon, just how will you raise the billions of dollars that are critical to funding your tax policy, that gives the greatest help to the struggling landlords, who you infer are now resorting to living off foodbank baked beans and dumpster diving?

It’s really simple Jack, and you don’t need to be an Harvard professor to understand it, because in all honesty, even a preschooler can follow it, so you should be able to also. Basically, we need to obtain a heap of money, and it may not happen in our first term, but it will happen, according to prudential advice I got from Rachel Hunter. Now, the money comes from various sources, so to simplify the whole situation, the same way Nicola simplified it, when she explained it to me. Was, that first and foremost, I’ll get hold of a rabbits foot, then bury it in my yard, and then recite my incantation prayer to Sir John of Key, then mix together a powerful elixir of brimstone and eye of newt and tongue of dog, and after downing this, run naked though my masonic hall at half past midnight, under a blood moon, wearing nothing but a tinfoil hat. And there you have it. And of course, we’ve thoroughly modeled all our calculations, and obtained the relevant legal advice.

Mr Luxon, can you please elaborate further, on you modeling and legal advice, and does your plan take into consideration, logic, science, and basic economics.

Sure thing Jack. The way I see it, is that I’m not even talking in terms of logic or science or economics anymore, because I’m way beyond that. And as for modeling, I see your slipping again Jack, because I already made the relevant reference to Rachel Hunter, that you didn’t pick up on. And I knew you were going to quiz me about our legal advice, so instead of delegating, I took it upon myself to go all the way to the Supreme Court, which is just across the road from where I was at the Beehive. Where asked a very esteemed advisor, regarding the legality of NZ breaking its previous good faith tax agreements, negotiated with our major trading partners, in terms of imposing our hyped foreign buyers tax. Because if such a tax is deemed illegal, then of course, our whole tax policy turns into a trainwreck steaming pile of poo, and the wheels will immediately start falling off Nationals election campaign tax bribe, I mean bait and switch, I mean policy, I mean scam, I mean policy!
The considered advice that I received, was simply this. Firstly, I have to ignore that nincompoop Sir John of Key’s conclusion, that such a property tax was illegal, and then I simply change the name of the “foreign buyer tax” to “out-of-towner’s charitable levy”, and there you have it, problem solved. And if the foreign buyers tax flops, then I can always resort to Nationals policy of raising the qualifying age for super, to get the money.

One last thing Mr Luxon, I’m finding it very hard to take you seriously, but to clear up a small point, was the source of the legal advice, a judge, or barrister, or some other official of the court?

Look Jack, I didn’t see the need to go into such details with the adviser for privacy reasons, and all the details which are really necessary, can be found in our 30 page tax manifesto anyway. Suffice to say, the adviser you’re referring to, was indeed located in very close proximity to the Supreme Court, and supplementing their income by washing car windows, which I think shows, kiwi can do ingenuity, which is what I stand for.

    • Yes indeed crikey. Very telling that he had no idea where the evictees would go. On the streets presumably. Also harping on about the 10k complaints. Pity he wasn’t asked how many complainees there were. I am 70+ years old own my own home and until this year have never had any one complain about me or my family. New neighbours moved in just before Xmas and have complained to me 3 times, other 2 neighbours a total of 5 times. So 8 complaints one complainee. If this is a normal ratio then less than 1200 people are complaining. I would suggest it would actually be a lot smaller number.
Our complainer has never approached us directly, always through the local Facebook page. Very nice to our face.

  8. All credit to Jack Tame. He is quite superb. Cool, calm, persistent, polite, well-researched and with an occasional smile (or frown)!
His competition on Newshub Nation, well, it’s not competition at all.
Rebecca cannot help over-talking an answer (similar to Luxon over-talking the next question) and inserting her opinion; Simon does the same but his opinions are minimal and he’s not well-researched so often caught out especially with a follow-up question that screams out to be asked.
Q&A is not to be missed. I’ve given up on Newsub Nation weeks ago. It just doesn’t cut it.

    • Couldnt disagree more Verity.

I am not sure why it is called Q&A. Jack isnt interested in questions and answers and has become totally unwatchable. I’m not a National voter but it wasnt lost on me the difference in the treatment Jack dished out to Luxon compared to Waititi’s treatment.

I have been watching Q & A for a while and I am sick to death of its gotcha format and politican partisanship. Quality journalism it is not.

  9. I’m one of those Angry Disenfranchised Aucklanders who is still bitter about the lock downs. “6000 lives saved” (according to the Daily blog) would have been a fair price to pay over covid to not be in the position we are now. Frankly Luxon and Seymore could eat a baby live on TV and I’d still vote for them. Such is my hate for labour post covid.

  10. God knows how Luxon got to where he is with his spelling ability and hatred of others, goes to show what a joke corporate executives are. Only the wealthiest and nastiest win with a National government, who are in this strictly as a business project rather than growing New Zealanders. You lose your job, your house, your environment, your civil society and your self respect. We must hold our nose and vote for the least worst, Labour, if we are to get out of this alive.

    • I think I’ve seen this one, Chippy comes back in this third installment as a clunky, out of date model (replacing the shape changing female version) and says to the protagonist (us) ” Come with me if you want to live”. Pretty sure The Chippinator goes from evil to good guy in the sequel.

    • Yes Ethan.
Only the naive and/ or ill informed would vote for National or Act.

They are clueless , soulless , greedy and fundamentally…..stupid.

    • Tell that to the 10k who will be evicted under National OT have to find them a home according to Luxon will that be a motel or maybe under a tree or one of nationals new bridges.

  11. Luxon that cocky he believes that he’s already won the election! These parasites will sell us down the gurgler just what his buddy John Key did before leaving his tenureship early than expected. These parasites aren’t patriotic to NZers or NZ they don’t have our best interest they only care about their wealth & prestige.

  12. 7 Houses Luxon cares a lot about the average Kiwi. He has a plan. To sell New Zealand homes to foreigners. It will make the country a better place. Trust him.

  13. Jesus wept, what a greedy, pathetic fuck-up he is.
But beware! If you want to gauge where our Aotearoa/New Zealand’s really heading then concentrate on the facts then weave the facts together with common sense.
The climate is becoming alarmingly hotter. Yes, it is National Party voters. The science is in.
That means that 90% of all humans will need to move to cooler ground. Some say above and below the 45th latitudes while I heard recently that, that’s not far enough into the merciful shades of the north and south poles so it’s more likely to be in the 30’s latitude.
That means that our AO/NZ is being noticed, more so than ever, and it was already being eyeballed.
I think it comes down to who has the most money to buy us and if you’re going to spend that much money you’re not going to want to share it with the planet’s hoi polloi. If I were a Cambodia rubbish dump dweller I’d be even more worried than I am.
While we must watch the truly depressingly awful lead up to the farce that’s our ‘elections’ we should be mindful that labour is still unapologetically milton friedman’s neo-liberalism and the national party are playing a game with everyone and couldn’t care less who gets in because nationals deep state rich will always call the shots across all parties. In my opinion we of us who are not millionaires or billionaires are in shit that just gets deeper.

  14. Perhaps if those in social housing thought they could be removed they might think twice about being such bad tenants . Perhaps a few nights on the street might make them think twice. Good people are in motels being abused while bad people are living in subsidied homes.

    • Hey Trevor. Do you actually know how many complainers there actually are. And do you know if their complaints are valid. Or do just believe what this so called Christian says about the bottom feeders.

    • Luxton is reading from the Nat script but the party have given him a hard sell. The script sucks. He’s not a politician remember but headhunted from the private sector, shouldertapped a while back now. It’s been a long time plan in the making. I think he’s coming to realise the cut and thrust of politics, especially around election time, is very different to fronting a big corporation. Not that he hadn’t known the particular challenges. And I wouldn’t be surprised that the party are starting to wonder about this too.

    • So Trevor you like your esteemed leader state some poor people bad , deserve to spend a few nights on the street to learn their lesson ( what about their children). Then you and your esteemed leader say some poor people much better and deserve a subsidized home. Now Trevor are you really saying there are no bad rich people, no landlords who hike their rents just for the sake of it or just so that they can afford to go to the movies . Are there no bad rich people who avoid tax, are there no bad rich people at all who don’t deserve to have a home and live on the street. Are there no bad people that abuse children ( i can think of one recent very bad rich person). Are there no bad rich people that beat their wives. So Trevor are you saying some poor people good however all rich people very good.

  15. Arise, Muldoon. The, edwards interviewer, sprung the Prefect, with lip quiver questions, as today, with the Rob, wanabe, more so, the rob clone, only small r, why easy, he is secret and non conforming to questions of right. Sneaky, untrustworthy, and basic liar, lets go back to the Muldoon years. Puppet glove, eh! winkle fingers,, lets sell off those old state homes,, see the land they are erected on, four density buildings every section we can do, and our overseas corporate investors, win win.
That IS not what baby Rob, clone today, attempted to deflect from the interview, it was.

  16. Only two things to take to take from this morning’s Q&A
I don’t want either man anywhere near the levers of power; Luxon is simply dishonest and doesn’t understand policy complexity and the other doesn’t give a rats about policy complexity, for him it’s all about ego. Problem is either one or the other will be part of govt. post election.

THE REALLY IMP. THING HERE THOUGH IS THAT LABOUR’S UNWILLINGNESS TO RECREATE PUBLIC BROADCASTING HAS BITTEN IT FIRMLY ON THE ARSE. TVNZ’S PERVERSE PRIORITIES MEAN Q2A (THE ONLY THING WE HAVE APPROACHING GROWN UP POLITICAL ANALYSIS/CURRENT EVENTS) WAS BROADCAST A 9 ON ASUNDAY MORNING WHEN NO ONE WAS WATCHING! THE ONE REALLY IMP. THING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BUT WASN’T. WE ARE THE ONLY DEVELOPED COUNTRY WITHOUT PUBLIC BROADCASTING AND FRANKLY I FEEL ASHAMED.

  17. I have just come from a supermarket where i witnessed two teenage girls discreetly feeding themselves on bread rolls, roast chicken and mayonnaise in an isle. They had the items stationed about 10 feet apart on the shelves to look like they were browsing. One of the girls smiled at me like an arrogant little shit. They both were dressed in clothes that looked newish. I went to self checkout and pointed out to two staff what was going on, and they just looked completely indifferent and “tell me something new”. Why the f*ck should I pay these arseholes when they are making so much money that they can turn a blind eye. It’s probably cheaper than security that would be well with their rights to give those girls a good slapping? Why should I pay, when they don’t and the store doesn’t care? I am now totally confused as I wanted to go back and shove the bread rolls up their noses, but that’s not how I was brought up unfortunately.

We are all being taken for a ride.

  18. I’m not usually one to bring politicians kids into it but Luxon did it himself at the campaign launch so… Was i the only one to notice that his kids have a American accent? That shows you exactly how invested in New Zealand he really is. He wants to run a country he wouldn’t/didn’t have enough respect for NZ to bring his own kids up in. (his kids are adults so that covers both nat and lab govt’s so don’t try and spin the usual line of saying its Lab’s fault)

  19. One of the criticisms of the Nats tax policy is around the 15% tax on foreign buyers of local property. The criticism is that their assumptions about the amount they will raise is ‘heroic’. I agree, but in the opposite direction. When the shackles are taken off the high end of the property market, foreign buyers will flock to NZ, particularly from the US. The amount of money they will raise will be well above what they are budgeting.

  20. He should have sent Bishop he is the housing spokesperson, and he is better at bullshitting. The same day I heard him (Bishop) being interviewed (if you call it that) on the radio. He mentioned Salvation Army and other social and community housing providers. Bishop wants to reduce Kainga Ora and increase more community providers of course that would cost money but National will get rid of workers and cut KOs budget and give some of that money to the other providers it’s the same policy they had 7 years ago. Really, they don’t want to provide social housing they want the private market to do it and make a profit by doing so. And by doing it like this they can alleviate themselves of any responsibility.

  21. Yes, he didn’t care where the evicted 10 thousand go perhaps we could send them to the moon everyone’s on that band wagon now or we could put them on an island and ship food out to them. Better still let them fend for themselves like survivor island. Then he kept saying Kainga Ora can find them somewhere to go has he forgotten they have, and it is called a motel. He seems to have forgot who KO is and where they come from.

  22. Yes, he didn’t care where the evicted thousand go to perhaps we could send them to the moon everyone’s on that band wagon now or we could put them on an island and ship food out to them. Better still let them fend for themselves like survivor island or lord of the fly’s. Then he kept saying Kainga Ora can find them somewhere to go has he forgotten they have, and it is called a motel. He seems to have forgot who KO is and where they come from.

  23. Having spoken recently to current Air New Zealand employees it seems Mr.Luxon was well respected and liked, yet people on this site have said the opposite,so I’m forced to the view they made it up.
