But while Paster Julian Batchelor has the right to froth and foam over Helter Skelter race war fantasies, I equally have every right to use my free speech to denounce his hatred.

He is a snake oil merchant trying to turn frightened white people against Māori for an open conflict. His plan to host a 100 000 racist religious fascist protest the day before the election is chilling.

I’ve found what appears to be a list of venues so take your popcorn and throw it. The only people it will hurt are those who have to clean up the venue to satisfy the requirements of the hall owners.

Well if you try to shut down reasonable criticism then the extremists barge in and become the de facto voice of those critics, you know that Martyn. I bet most of the attendees are there because they are concerned about the issue and nobody else has organised an event to explain and put their side of the argument and of course this issue will also attract nutters like flies to a honey pot.

The thing that really annoyed me about this meeting in Mt Eden is the choice of venue. Both of my grandfather’s fought fascism in WW2. I’m not saying that pastor Batchelor is a fascist, I doubt he is that ambitious, I doubt he has any ambition beyond lining his own pockets.
Hell, I don’t even think he is racist, racists to me have an ideology, you know based on skull shape or some bull shit like that, where as bigots are all about the feels. A mixture of fear, ignorance and an unhealthy dose of stupidity.
I find it ironic that the good pastor, making claims that that Maori are trying to create an ethno state, an apartheid system, when both of my grandfather’s fought in segregated units. Both were decorated soldiers. One in particular was awarded multiple medals for his courage and valor in Africa and Italy. He was religious, spent a lot of time on Marae and volunteering his time and effort for the Ratana church. I wonder what he would make of this.
I hope that RSAs and other halls bearing the name War Memorial in their title keep this in mind when he comes to their town.
