Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist language, homophobic language, racist language, anti-muslim hate, transphobic language, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

    • As I took my daughter to the airport a few hours ago, yet another example.
You’ll probably recall how Ministry of Works and Development worker bee staff used to get ridiculed for leaning on their shovels and appearing to do SFA.
As I drove daughter to the airport down state highway 1, we came across its intersection with Kent and Cambridge Terraces. (Local gummint territory at this point)
Not only was there orange cones from arsehole to breakfast, but Kent Terrace had three orange-suited specimens from one company leaning on some bits or orange and white water-filled bits of plastic; there was also a number of traffic management personnel guiding the way (Probably from another company) and basically getting IN the way; one person doing the hard yakka (probably from yet another company); and a couple of other specimens walking around with clip boards trying to look important (probably from WCC. One could even have been from the WCC Spin department – possibly Bullshitter-in-Chief Richard McLean or one of his deputy dogs).
They probably might need a cyclists Health and Safety orifice before too long – if only to guide them past the whole performance

  1. Floods in urban areas Oz and NZ.
    https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/on-the-inside/484543/what-australia-learned-from-recent-devastating-floods-and-how-new-zealand-can-apply-those-lessons-now
The other common factor is urbanisation. Auckland’s population has been growing, resulting in the increasing development of the built environment. Intensifying urban development places pressure on existing drainage systems – parts of which are no longer fit for purpose.

<b<Extensive built-up and paved areas with hard, impermeable surfaces can also cause rapid run-off during heavy rain, with the water unable to be absorbed into the ground as it would be in soft, vegetated areas.

Still narrow thinking – urban areas not watching what farming areas are doing and showing about containment of excess water at the Mulloon Institute.* Even after decades of work to get farmers and the government also on board with the idea. It is still not mentioned in articles like the one from The Conversation.

And the getting work done on the cheap by using community volunteers and pushing them to burnout as in volunteer firefighters and search and rescue.

While there are initiatives in New Zealand to attract and engage volunteers, more needs to be done. Civil Defence needs to conduct a structural review of the existing volunteer organisations that work in the disaster and emergency response field to identify ways to improve the recruitment and retention.

We also found evidence of volunteer “burn-out”, meaning there is a need to support volunteers emotionally and financially during extended periods of disaster response and recovery.M/i>

  2. BREAKING NEWS!

Auckland Councils CEO Jimmi Stabback goneburger! Good job!
Next, Phil Wilson and Paul Majurey.
Eventually, Majurey will run out of people to throw under the bus!

  3. What’s with swamping google so you can’t get any other entries on the required subject.. Seven pages of katy perry who I am not interested in. I was looking for katy something else. It is a blackout on anything but the object of the day, an abuse of the system.

Will someone please advise what payment will be made for airlifts and hospital care, and when and how? Insurance, S[ecial tourist insurance in NZ, on a tit for tat basis with home country of foreign tourists? You have to be healthy to go on these challenges, and for a healthy economy people using high-risk amusements and time-fillers need to pay for the pleasure of providing lord and lady health buff with their fix.

Labour to make a commitment to land transport needs, plus getting rail freight-ready with truck costs going up. People need to be able to get around and we know that the Cook Strait is an important link. Good ferries please, owned by government and watched over by government employees not on contracts. Then that cuts out the making cosy arrangements with opportunities to friendly relations and the quality of boat going down.
