    • Pathetic. Who or what is behind stuff? They run on the smell of an oily rag now – not raking in enough dinars to match inflation? Not prepared to soldier through to keep the system going – deflating costs to make it a juicy morsel for some bloated capitalistic … fill in your own adjective as I’m not paid to work overtime.

And I’ll put the likely NZ response for free – ‘Huh, be lucky to get any payment. Probably have to pay someone to get employed.’ Waddya rekin eh – we love to put tryers down, though if they win they get grudging respect. (And of course we commenters don’t get paid at all.)

Stuff Ltd has been owned by Sinead Boucher since 31 May 2020. It was called Fairfax New Zealand Limited until 1 February 2018.

      Ownership and funding

…In May 2020, Stuff CEO Sinead Boucher completed a management buyout, purchasing Stuff Ltd from Nine Entertainment of Australia at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic and returning the company to New Zealand ownership for the first time in decades. Through her holding company, Boucher remains the company’s sole owner.

In June 2021, Boucher announced 10 per cent of the company’s value would be transferred to a trust controlled by employee representatives. The trust does not have voting rights, and is not a vehicle for influencing editorial decisions…

How does stuff Co NZ make money?
Stuff’s journalism is funded by advertising, subscriptions to our print titles, contributions through the Stuff supporter programme, and grants from agencies such as New Zealand on Air.18/11/2020

    • A brief comment. We are such excellent mind readers’ ‘”Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night…” will prevent us from understanding what you are ‘on’ about. Need more info – like Joe 5 in Short Circuit. A few code words would help even – Sepuloni – Oranga Tamariki, Ardern – motel accommodation, Little – little cannabis action etc. See what I mean, otherwise it’s just another unhappy disjointed message floating in the ether and coming down to settle on the internet page like a dead leaf.

        • Sinic I appreciate your point and like your ideas but please just bit more info rather than your first response to something. Tell me why briefly – I would like to know and others. looking for new perspective and good info.

  1. Eke Panukus chairman feeling the heat. He and his fangurl Anne Gibson from the NZH doing promo for Majurey and his Billion Dollar whare development for wealth buyers. The question though is where is all the capital coming from? His little iwi has nowhere near that kind of putea. The two big treaty settlements where most of the assets for 12 iwi are on hold indefinitely because of the many issues arising from matters like this as well as court proceedings on related matters.

It aint chump change but it is questionable about how these projects are financed.

We are all vulnerable in what is often a big nasty world. But can we look after each of us in a better way so that the more vulnerable can walk unmolested, sleep unmolested, in confidence of safety from what can be described as human predators? And can we look at the problem in the round, as resulting from influences in the past, possibly in a male’s childhood, of interactions with females or vice versa, either physical or images from porn, or videos and films. What can women do to help improve the unsatisfactory culture that we have, putting aside blame and hate. Domestic violence seems to be part of the bad vibes relating to sexuality and it seems to be a wide problem in the world.

We have a perverted culture relating to sex, that objective critique will show eg Grace Mullane choosing to have sex with someone she didn’t know anything about. The woman had recently finished university study. How come she didn’t know at that stage to respect herself as a being of value, and her innate sexuality, that she would give it away so lightly. She chose to take the risk, and may have chosen a risky practice that heightened it.

The young woman in the news report, whose murderer is in the legal system is the real victim of a perverted culture that has false attitudes to sexuality that are unhealthy to say the least. How can the man be rehabilitated – does it need some sort of shock treatment, or extensive psychological time talking about how he can limit his obsessions and talk to other men in a conversational manner about what they do as a rule to quieten their minds and settle themselves. Will we have to introduce surgery of some sort. The PTB forced chemicals on Turing, that great hero of WW2 – they could not let him be although his homosexuality was not a new tendency in English males. Finding a new set of values in our treatment of children and showing love of the Agape* kind, rather than getting Eros confusion, just learning about being human and our known psychology and being kind and learning some values would be an upward step for us all as society suffers blow after blow from materialism and climate change.

Shakespeare again – What a piece of work is man…(Hamlet I think)
And look how wise he is – from one of the snippets in a well-used Pohutukawa Birthday Book published by Whitcoulls Ltd –
    That we would do,
    We should do when we would;
    for this ‘would’ changes,
And hath abatements and delays as many
    As there are tongues.

Victor Hugo wrote about our situation and thought love would be what we want. We certainly need that positive impulse as hate seems all around. And if we don’t find a new humanity we will have robots and robot minds in humans fixing us in the hateful society
we have; if there is sufficient monetary or other profit from it.
    Hugo –
In me, around me, everywhere is joy,
    Intoxication, mystery, and delight.
And pride, and that one thing that on the earth
    Approaches most divinity, love.

It all sounds a bit sappy eh. I think the 21st century will extend further for us if the drive is to make it ‘The Sappy Century’. Or will we hunt and kill each other like hyenas, or **Lord of the Flies?
** Lord of the Flies explores the dark side of humanity, the savagery that underlies even the most civilized human beings. William Golding intended this novel as a tragic parody of children’s adventure tales, illustrating humankind’s ‘intrinsic’ [I think replace with ‘potentially’] evil nature. https://www.cliffsnotes.com/literature/l/lord-of-the-flies/book-

  3. Jaydens Meyers bullshit sentence for raping four 15-year-old girls has further highlighted how useless and unfair our NZ Police and Crown prosecutors are. What is the point of having an appeal process when judges are too sacred to override other court Judges decisions. In fact, this makes an entire mockery of our entire justice/courts systems. Victims expect our Police to protect us and deliver us fair and effectual process and justice. Yet I know from experience this is not happening. How can we have confidence in our Polices abilities when they are not doing their job by recommending manifestly ridiculously light sentences for some and manifestly excessive sentences for others. What happened to precedence, I have studied some cases particularly when many Maori are sentenced and it makes me extremely angry and frustrated that this rubbish has been able to carry on for so long.
