Why these feral anti-vax conspiracy theorists trying to gain public office is so problematic for them and our Democracy

If there was one good outcome of the very one sided Fire & Fury, it’s that they have highlighted that these feral Qanon anti-vax lunatics have been outed for trying to hide their shared mental illness when running for everything from local council to school boards…

Minister seeks urgent advice as white supremacist stands for school board

Mayoral hopeful spread false medical claims, lied about Emmy Award

Nelson council candidates’ links to disinformation and conspiracy

Health NZ rejects vaccine claims by former pharmacist standing for council

Council candidate has one-third stake in conspiracy theorist’s new media company

…let’s be very clear what the issue here actually is and why the media are doing their job by telling us.

These feral anti-vax lunatics have every right to run in our democracy, just as they have every right to protest.

TDB Recommends NewzEngine.com

That they are running for local body elections isn’t the problem because every citizen has the right to democratic participation, just as they have the right to protest.

That they are standing isn’t the issue, the fact they are trying to hide their true intentions and their real beliefs IS the problem and it’s a big fucking problem!

If you honestly believe that this Government has committed crimes against humanity and need to be arrested and hung at some weird bastardisation of the Nuremberg rallies, you should stand on that platform and tell us all your policy platform regarding that, and the rest of us can make a decision on how disconnected from reality you are.

Hiding your true intentions to insert yourself into the local structures of power so you can damage that system is not good faith democracy, it’s a dark and dangerous manipulation of our collective apathy.

Outing these fanatics isn’t right wing or left wing thing, this is toxic polarisation by people who have a completely different reality to the rest of us and see engagement as a means to disrupt and amputate our democracy for the most conspiracy driven of beliefs.

Fuck!

That!

Shit!

As a nation we have sacrificed for our Democracy, as a people we collectively suffered under Covid. Our forebears did not spill blood and we did not in solidarity accept Covid sacrifice just so people who are one step above flat-earthers could take over our local systems of Democracy!

They need to be outed and all good people of conscience should vote in any way that ensures they don’t win.

Let me be clear.

I don’t care that these lunatics are running, I care that they are being deceptive about their true intentions and intend to wreck our democracy from the inside for their demented conspiracies.

Voters need to know who they are and need to know their deceptiveness and Voters can make up their own mind, because purposely misleading the public about your true intentions isn’t democracy, that’s a Coup d’état.

  1. I guess nobody busted all the neoliberals and self interested parties that are currently in public office destroying democracy, welfare state and our environment. (While often posing as the opposite).

Yes bad that the anti vaxers and fringe identity groups are making a play, but that’s our society now. Dumb fringe lives matter as well as Business is Best and woke worship.

    • This!! local government is already riddled with people who are more loyal to political parties than the locals who elected them

    • Yep, my first reaction too, except I’m old enough to remember Labour starting all this back in the 80s. The evil little cancer called Roger Douglas sneaking in under the radar along with Richard Prebble. Disingenuity to the max.
You get what you sow dudes.

    • Whilst I don’t share their beliefs they have every right to stand to do otherwise is not democratic.

    • Sounds like some of your comments on China and Taiwan or the Uighurs saveNZ and weaponizing democracy seems to be a habit that you can’t seem to break?

  2. My 40 year old cousin and mother of two has permanent heart damage after taking the booster.
    She will probably die young.

Oh dear, what a shame, never mind

    • Very sorry to learn of the harm done to your cousin. And, yes, it is a shame — not just a shame, a scandal and a disgrace. And it is NOT being talked about. My nephew’s son, a young man in his 20s (in the US), died of myocarditis, after getting his 2nd jab late last year. He had no history of previous heart problems. Coincidence? We think not. (And, remember, the death rate among young people who get Covid is virtually zero — and the risk even of serious illness is tiny) So am I just being paranoid? Am I a “feral anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist”? That this covid vaccine, which uses a new, experimental approach, can be dangerous is well known among government officials and medical experts. Don’t believe me? Then maybe you’ll believe the NZ Covid Information Advisory Centre — see their posting at https://covid.immune.org.nz/faq/myocarditis-pericarditis-and-covid-19-vaccine-new-zealand

And just in case you don’t know what this centre is, folk, it PROMOTES vaccination and sets up vaccine schedules.
But, sorry, I’m just being paranoid again.

        • So Andy, you agree with executing politicians and public servants, like the the Destiny Umbrella (DUMB) alliance and their Counterspin Nuremberg site?? Please pass on your email to the group investigating Counterspin, they’d be happy to know your ultra-right political viewpoints.

Fucking moron, just like Bob the First.

      • Other than the complete lack of empathy and compassion in your heartless comment, Bert, the statement that your brother “survived because of” is speculative at best.
I’m also 63 and survived with zero jabs. In fact I had a mild cold at best when I tested positive

        • You were one of the lucky ones then, many from your age category upward died, not because or the vaccine but the disease itself.

          • Glad it was there to make you feel better.
But no one made you take it.
And they said it was perfectly safe and perfectly effictive.
And have walked it back ever since.

            • Definitely worked and who is “they”, the men in the white boiler suits? Walked what back, that the world isn’t flat, that ivermectin is the cure, or maybe drinking bleach?
              Please say it isn’t so!

      • Do you get your kicks out of other people’s hardships and grief? I’m very glad your brother survived, and best wishes to him.

          • Apology? You are laughing at the permanent heart damage in my cousin.

“People” like you deserve the utmost contempt.

          • You only vaxxed because your St Jacinda told you to. Next thing she’ll tell you to vote for her and you’ll do what she says.

            • Bullshit.
I had the booster, and eventually COVID as well.

And I have had no heart damage!
I demand an apology from those who believe that crap. I have every right to complain of heart damage too!
              Idiots.

            • Seems like we have one that was microchipped, thanks coward. That chip will mean you will be anti anything Jacinda says, seems you were microchipped at birth St coward.

    • Im 73 ,4 injections and going strong, did your relative, gulpKFC and coke down, life styles you know effect your heart if unhealthy

      • They won’t tell you that side of their health status. Normally get the ” completely healthy” beforehand story.

  3. It’s hard to see the difference between the fringe element creeping in disguise to upset democracy and the main element slinking in under the radar with their alternative democracy. Coups de’état anyone?

  4. Their deception is problematic for sure but the fact they are demented runs a very close second. That’s why I was so disappointed Luxon (probably unwittingly) gave Tamaki’s mob even a hint of legitimacy, and just as alarmed that some commenters try use MMP the reason as to why we must respect them. NO! We must respect their right to express their views in the open, but that’s where the obligation ends.

  5. our anodyne media and a political class who have seeded power to ‘administrators’ brought this on themselves…I understand the mob not trusting anyone, I don’t, do I think they’re right, of course not, most are so dense they have their own gravity field….but after lying for 30 yrs the neo-libs have no one to blame for this but themselves

  6. Just like Labour how kept He Puapua hidden from Winston and the general public until after the election.

Conspiracy theories (and theorists) flourish when the ruling party ceases to be transparent. Labour passed that point long ago and the current whirlwind of discord is a largely a result of this lack of transparency and general dishonesty.

    • Whilst I don’t share their beliefs they have every right to stand to do otherwise is not democratic.

      • Bob my comment was not about the beliefs of the group we are talking about, it’s you. Labour are accused of having no plan, no competence, and no clue by your good self. Then in the same breathe you accuse them of having some devious master plan. That sound very conspiracy orientated.

        • I agree Wheel the Labour Government has a devious master plan but will they be able to deliver? I don’t think so because they are simply incompetent.

  7. Hiding their true agenda…..I think we better include the Labour Party in that.

    Both in 1984 and today.

Why did they not campaign on three waters? Why did hide HePuapua?
Maybe they will campaign on it in 2023… yeah right

  8. The so called conspiracy theorists have raised some interesting questions…Let’s see if YOU are an so called conspiracy theorist?
    – Wuhan Viral Institute was the starting point of Covid …if you agree, then you are a Conspiracy Theorist according to the USA Government
    – The projectors of Covid deaths of Kiwis being in the hundreds, if not thousands per day was rubbish…if you agree, then you are a Conspiracy Theorist according to The World Health Organisation (WHO)

      • So Gus — where did the source of Covid come from if not Wuhan? or, how about this Gus, you do believe that hundreds, if not thousands of Kiwis were meant to died per day projectors….if you do you a DRONE!

        • So Nathan how many vaccinated people were found to have microchips inserted I them? Hundreds if not thousands?

          • Gus, stop changing the subject…Do you believe that Covid comes from Wuhan YES/NO – if yes, your a conspiracy theorist according to the USA Government.
Do you believe in those death projectors for NZ YES/NO – if no, then your a conspiracy theorist according to the WHO

              • Most certainly vile, like many others have said of you on here.
You even admitted to Bert, “it’s fun though”.
It is all a big game to you.
Seems envy is also part of your personality.

    • nate, viruses mutate in the natural environment every day of every week, as we have had demonstrated by succesive covid iterations, so a natural animal origin is as possible as any other scenario.
our casualty total was only low because we took measures look at the brits and the yanks.

  9. Good on the media for outing theses candidates craziness true beliefs but why? The media are shit scared of these people because they get labelled fake and lose credibility in the eyes of the public. The Fire & Fury doco showed Paula Penfolds shock that people had stopped believing msm and she was no longer considered an arbiter of truth. And why wouldnt people stop believing msm? Did msm report on the true intentions of the Rogernomics Sect before the 84 election? Did msm report on the true cogovernance intentions of the current power players prior to last two elections? As they say never believe the government or a politician isnt lying to you!

    • Joseph looked like she was more scared of the protesters telling her and the crew to fuck off and using intimidating tactics from what I saw on the videos!!

  10. Also these anti vax anti msm anti science types are energetic so will likely get out their vote. Opinion polls at the time of the protest showed they had 30% support of the general population.

    • The majority of the 30% I would venture supported their right to protest not to confirm their medical beliefs.

  11. Agree fully on the anti vax conspiracy theory looney tunes. And this is exactly the issue i have with the bicycle lobby. “the fact they are trying to hide their true intentions and their real beliefs IS the problem and it’s a big fucking problem!”

If they came out front and say they want to reduce Auckland’s speed limits to a max 30 kmhr, ban any street parking, lay siege to cars in general and set up playgrounds randomly on any road to satisfy their inner infant, they’d get fuck all votes. But they hide in anonymity. What did a Christchurch councillor of this category describe the election time as…silly season!

    Fuck their manipulation!

  12. I’m quite glad we’re learning about these people who are running for local body elections that meet with the disapproval of the media elite. I now know who to vote for. Why? Well fuck Stuff, that’s why.

  13. I’ve been very unsatisfied, surprised for some years at the lack of background given by candidates for any office. I want to know where they went to school what their interests are, what their main occupation, is, has been and likely future, and what side issues they follow. Are they married, spouse’s name, how many children, do they homeschool or join the rest of the citizens? Have they ability to prioritise and what do they put first, whether they are interested in helping vulnerable people to find their feet, or is working on their palate for craft beer or wine and building stadia with world class facilities, their main interest plus opening up common land to developers for people stacking and business parks?

    • Well, the msm as they have shown in this instance only need to dig through facebook and LinkedIn to find that background. So it’s done in this case but not others, why? I guess these outliers are newsy while background stories on quiet capitalists – yeah nah get them to buy advertising.

  14. ” If you honestly believe that this Government has committed crimes against humanity ”

I believe every government from 1984 including this one has acted against a large section of New Zealand humanity pursuing economic policies that have created the misery and waste of human life that the neo liberal market economy encourages including the bureaucracy in this country.

” They need to be outed and all good people of conscience should vote in any way that ensures they don’t win ”

If only that applied to the current political parties and the many complicit unelected ones who hide away but are immensely powerful.

Bomber other than that I totally agree with your next statement

“That they are standing isn’t the issue, the fact they are trying to hide their true intentions and their real beliefs IS the problem and it’s a big fucking problem ”

Totally agree Bomber and these people have discredited themselves by not being upfront about their real intentions.

  15. Stuff happily connives with politicians to pretend they’re ‘left wing’ and ‘care’ when they’re clearlyh neoliberals who would happily bathe in the blood of the poor given half a chance, so why shouldn’t the vaccine cranks have a go?

    • So, you are finally showing your true colours and ethnicity now, Cameron “Mohammed Khan” Slater? I was a bit suspicious of your feigned ESL English on another few posts here on TDB.

Now, we finally and really know who you are CS, but not glad you are willing to hide behind an ethnicity, or someone who you assign gutter references to as “the poor”.

When the f#ck have your right-wing and alt-right Cam Slater-Dirty-Politics fuckers EVER given two sh!its about the poor, apart from being the low-lives you tax, while the rich avoid it? Trickle-down will help the poor – f#cking liars!

      Fucking right-wing hypocrites!!

  16. Liberal democracies are on a decline globally. We have relationship with other liberal democracies and make claims that our type of ‘system’ is the best in the world?? Is that actually the truth? Why do we have high rates of poverty if our system is the finest system in the world? And if this white nationalist supporter wants to put his name forward as a candidate for the school-board and gets elected isn’t that liberal democracy at work? If a murderer get found not guilty (even though there is enough evidence to the contrary but get off on a technicality) isn’t that liberal democracy? An example closer to home where the Pakeha majority can vote against Maori interest of participation in local government isn’t that the workings of a liberal democracy state?

Maybe we need to rethink our commitment to how we view and exercise our liberal democracy? When or if our country is under threat from military invasion do we say to our fellow citizens that it’s your choice to arm up and defend ourselves because of our liberal democracy? Or do we conscript our people to fight for our existence? When we support other Liberal democracies does that mean we support apartheid? (example is apartheid Israel the only supposedly democracy in the M.E)

China the largest populated country that is communist but practices socialism lifted 800 million chinese people out of poverty and about to overtake the US to become the next super-power concentrates more on the collective than the individual and it works for them. In NZ we have politician that weaponizes liberal democracy for their own political gains that alienates certain sectors of society because we are individuals and live in a liberal democracy, is that good enough?

Many in the West, especially among foreign policy elites, consider liberal hegemony a wise policy that states should axiomatically adopt. Its core claims are based on a set of assumptions about human nature, meaning those attributes that are common to all people, as opposed to those that vary among individuals. Thus, to assess liberalism, we must first describe what it says about human nature and determine whether those claims square with what we know about the human condition.
