The government will buy out the Super Fund, ACC and NZ Post to take complete control of Kiwibank, in a deal that values the company at $2.1 billion.
Managing director of the Simplicity not-for-profit KiwiSaver provider Sam Stubbs told RNZ the government move was a setback for competition.

“Kiwibank was set up to be the national champion bank and to really create proper competition for the Australian banks and it has unfortunately not succeeded in doing that, it’s never had more 5 percent market share.”

Even when people in finance appear to be talking frankily and openly I believe they are still talking with forked tongue. One can make a perfectly true statement that can be validated by stats and yet not tell the whole story, which would put a different complexion on matters. Finance is life blood to most of us. It runs in controlled ways, alter the hydraulic pressure and it behaves differently, which is disconcerting and affects trigger happy stock exchange indicators run by computers which some people spent billions on to have faster communications between USA cities to give them millsecond advantage.

A giant gambling casino at the back of your little local bank, far in the distance but still linked through tortuous wires. Or in Terry Pratchett books I think they had ‘clack’ towers.

Gloriavale does indeed have blacklists and may vindictively interfere in a person’s life or occupation many years after them leaving. It is an unpleasant foretaste of the world we are moving to – more a sort of serfdom than a Christian settlement.
Acronyms for serfdom – I think that most of these could apply to people in this situation, especially women who are kept busy and probably pregnant (a young woman who drowned had 11 living children I think).
The men may be able to take part in decision making but I think there is a ruling group and they are big on advancing their group’s wealth through various trading schemes.

This is at Marybank I think, not Marytown as caption.

We are going to have to be careful with drainage around NZ – keep it above ground above the ground on hills – not allowed to seep. And watch for cunning neighbours trying to save money slipping their piping into yours. It happens. We have the sort of soil structure in parts of Nelson that is a problem.

  4. At a hui. Meet the candidates for the Waitemata Ward/Board.

Less than thirty minutes in. The woke left candidates Pippa Coom and Co claim speakers and guest are homophobic, anti trans, ect…

    Because they lost the room!

Then! She attacks a kaumatua! And then lies!

It seems to be a tactic of the left in these local body elections to attack the audience and other speakers when they’re losing the debate.

  5. As experts in digital security and privacy, Avast has created the Scamdemic Centre to help educate digital citizens around scams and trigger important conversations and knowledge sharing with family and friends…
While Avast’s research reveals that most New Zealanders (89%) believe they can identify a scam, with 3 in 4 (68%) confident they wouldn’t fall for one, CERT NZ tells a different story, with New Zealanders already reporting a significant $3.7 million in financial losses to scams in the first quarter (Jan-Mar) of 2022.

  6. Can unions once they have jobs and reasonable conditions and pay be careful about not having meetings in work time. We don’t want more of the tarraiddle of men’s union flexing their muscles when they were in good nick Cooks and Stewards – we don’t forget – just trying to get more in an irresponsible way.

They need to take responsibility if they are going to be activists otherwise they are only a step above the other protesters who had as much or more to complain about.
    https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/AK2208/S00441/trains-replaced-by-buses-during-union-meeting.htm
Off peak rail passengers in the Wellington region will face longer travel times as buses replace trains from 9am to 3pm on Wednesday 24 August.
Unionised members of Metlink rail operator, Transdev, will be attending their annual union meeting on this day, affecting the Hutt Valley, Melling, Johnsonville, Kapiti and Wairarapa lines.

Why 9-3pm Why not let most people get to work at 9 and get home with school kids etc.coming out by 2pm About 9.30am -2.30 pm. Four hours for the actual meeting that is time for plenty of gab some sandwiches more gab and back to work. It’s not a picnic day, and the unions are not a sandwich short, they know their stuff so don’t try it on you fellows. Pull together and keep the pressure up for all to get a fair crack, or we’ll all be down the dunny.

  7. Is there a rule about references from the internet so people can do their background checking and learn more Martyn? I have noticed that a few of mine have gone. ?
