Shameful US support for Israeli air-strikes

The Israeli Occupation‘s population-control policy in Palestine includes merciless suppression of every kind of protest. Recently, two Palestinian boys were killed; both were shot in the back with live ammunition, for daring to stand up against injustice. On 29 July, 15-year-old Amjad Nashat Faheem Naser (Abu Alia), was shot while marching with other al-Mughayir villagers to protest against land and property seizures by the Israeli Army and settlers finding himself confronted by Israeli forces as well as armed settlers. The Israeli Army, firing live ammunition, stun grenades and tear gas canisters, was joined by an armed settler, shooting from behind a stone wall a mere 15 metres away. Amjad, shot in the back and suffering severe internal bleeding, later died in hospital. On the evening of 1 August, an Israeli sniper shot and killed 17-year-old Dirar Riyad Saleh al-Kafrini, for protesting against an Israeli military invasion of a UN refugee camp in Jenin. Dirar, like Amjad, also died in hospital from severe internal bleeding. So far this year, as Defence for Children International (DCIP) reports, Israeli Occupation forces have shot and killed 18 Palestinian youngsters.

Earlier, on 8 July, Israeli Occupation forces, firing rubber-coated bullets, stun grenades and tear gas canisters at protesters, wounded eight people, including Mu’min Murad Eshteiwi (aged 14). On 15 July, the Israeli Army, again firing rubber-coated bullets, stun grenades and tear gas canisters towards protesters, this time in the Qaryut village spring area, wounded a 12-year-old boy: Amir Moaz Abu Salmiya. On 27 July, at 2:55am, Israeli forces, firing the usual rubber-coated bullets, stun grenades and tear gas canisters, raided the al-Jalazoun UN refugee camp and invaded a home, wounding a 13-year-old boy: Ribhi Ahmed.

There were other deaths that month: On 2 July, 68-year-old Saadia Salem Radwan Farajallah died, due to medical negligence in an Israeli prison where she had been held since 18 December last year. On 23 July, at 2:10am, raiding Israeli Occupation forces, firing live ammunition, rubber-coated bullets, stun grenades and tear gas canisters, attacked and invaded homes in Nablus, killing two people and wounding ten. Those who died, Mohammed Bashar Azizi and Abd al-Rahman Jamal Sobh, were killed by a rocket-propelled grenade, targeting their home while it was surrounded by Israeli forces. On 29 July, a 60-year-old resident of the village of Awarta, Hussein Hassan Qawariq, died of wounds received two days earlier during an assault by Israeli forces at the Huwara checkpoint.

Israeli air strikes

Since beginning to write this article, news has broken of yet another Israeli air bombardment of Gaza. It’s easy for Israel, Gaza has no air defence! At around lunch-time, early afternoon on Friday, 5 August, Israel launched a series of air strikes across the Gaza Strip, with an initial death-toll of ten and injury to 55 other people. At approximately 4:30pm, as the air strikes continued, a five-year-old girl, Alaa Qaddoum, was killed while accompanying her father on a motorcycle. The child’s mother, Rasha, lost her daughter as well as her husband in a moment and has three other children to care for. The first Israeli strike hit the Palestine Tower, with smoke pouring from the seventh floor while people, seeking shelter, were menaced by Israeli reconnaissance drones overhead. The Israeli air strikes carried on into the evening and it wasn’t until 9pm that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) finally retaliated, firing more than a hundred rockets, with about 60 of them crossing into Israel. More than a quarter of them fell short, inside Gaza. As at 6pm, 6 August, rocket-fire launched from Gaza had resulted in damage to one home in Israel. One civilian and two military personnel had been injured and there was limited damage to property.

The Israeli attacks targeted residential areas and, according to a UN OCHA report, 40 families are known to have been displaced since 5 August, including 30 from the Palestine Tower building in Gaza City. The Ministry of Public Works and Housing in Gaza has confirmed that 11 homes have been totally destroyed, with some 650 housing units partially damaged, 29 of them uninhabitable.

Washington, predictably, justified the Friday Israeli air strikes, stating: “The United States fully supports Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorist groups that have taken the lives of innocent civilians in Israel.” This attack on Gaza follows a series of raids, assassinations and prisoner-taking directed at Palestinians throughout Occupied Palestine, including the beating and seizure of Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement leader, Bassam al-Saadi, during a raid on the Jenin UN refugee camp.

Protests – take notice

The Palestinian protests are declarations of resolve not to surrender; they appeal to the world not to ignore the cruelty and injustice of the Israeli military Occupation. Israel ruthlessly enforces its presence through immense military superiority, which enables it to incrementally seize land and property while aiming to break the spirit of the population. Israel wants the land but not its people. To achieve its Zionist goal, the people it has invaded are subjected to constant raids by night and by day. Israeli forces invade and destroy Palestinian homes, impose extreme travel restrictions and commit armed robbery. Together with settlers, they inflict ruinous agricultural, pastoral and economic sabotage.

Supported by the United States, Canada, the EU and Britain, all of which have provided Israel with weaponry, the Israeli and Egyptian blockade of Gaza has lasted for 14 years. This collective punishment of two million Palestinians, over 70% of whom are refugee victims of Zionism, amounts to imprisonment. Almost half the population are children under the age of 15, who, as a result of blockade, do not even have secure supplies of water, food, electricity nor medicine. Their plight is a violation of the Geneva Conventions. Year-by-year, hardly a day goes by without attacks by the Israeli Navy on Palestinian fishing boats, along with agricultural sabotage. Israel, which severely restricts Palestinian movement, makes military incursions into the enclave whenever it likes and, similarly, invades its air-space at will. The people in Gaza have been denied their right to return home for 74 years and, like all Palestinians, have the right to resist. They deserve the support of all who value and respect universal human rights and the provisions of international law.

Leslie Bravery is a Londoner with vivid World War Two memories of the Nazi blitz on his home town. In 1947/1948 His father explained to him what was happening to the Palestinians thus: “Any ideology or political movement that creates refugees in the process of realising its ambitions must be inhuman and should be opposed and condemned as unacceptable.” What followed confirmed this assessment of the Zionist entity a hundredfold. Now a retired flamenco guitarist, with a lifelong interest in the tragedy of what happened to the Palestinian people, he tries to publicise their plight. Because the daily injustices they suffer barely get a mention in the mainstream news media, Leslie edits/compiles a daily newsletter, In Occupied Palestine, for the Palestine Human Rights Campaign. These days, to preserve his sanity, he enjoys taking part in a drama group whenever possible!

  1. In other news, Arab terrorists fired 600 rockets from Gaza one of which fell short killing a bunch of kids within Gaza.

    • Give us the link Andrew seeing that you think that provides the last word on forming an opinion about this. You should know better than to put that up without a link.

    • Even your bosses in occupied Yafa (so-called ‘tel aviv’) admitted that they were lying when they claimed that, ‘Andrew’.

  2. As bad as elections in real nations are, the way that ‘israeli’ politicians seek to boost their reelection changes by slaughtering as many innocent children as possible is really something else. Disgusting that MFAT didn’t even lightly criticize this latest genocidal attack.

  3. Yeah, how unreasonable of the US to back Israel against a vicious, proscribed terrorist group, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, an Iranian proxy dedicated to Israel’s destruction that even Hamas hate, which is why they’re staying out of the fight. More unhinged drek from the arch Israel basher.

    • Boy, it sure drives you butchers mad when Palestinians defend themselves and you aren’t free to rape and kill civilians at will, doesn’t it?

      • Do you follow the Koran, Mohammed?
Especially the part where it says if you find a Jew anywhere it’s your Islamic duty to kill them. (maybe not word for word but an accurate summation of the meaning.)
With flowers of the Koran surrounding Israel….I hope they keep up the good fight from the death cult Islamists that surround them!

        • Usually the Abrahamic religions are referenced as one group in relation to Hinduism, Buddhism Shintoism etc., but perhaps because they stem from the same root they tend to exhibit extreme distaste and hatred for each other with the exception of a very large group of American Evangelical Christians.
There were groups of Jews living in Palestine in the days of the Ottoman empire. Leaders of these groups wrote to leaders in the West begging them not to let Zionists into Palestine but these were ignored by the British who also betrayed a promise given by Malone the British High Commissioner in Cairo to King Hussein of Palestine that the Palestinians would have sovereignty.
Many people know about the curious Scofield Bible funded by Samuel Untermeyer a wealthy American Jew. It is this Bible which was distributed in the US before WWI which has produced the huge pro Zionist Christian group in the US.
Two links will give an introduction to all this.

      • LOL, Palestinians defend themselves:
” Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) finally retaliated, firing more than a hundred rockets, with about 60 of them crossing into Israel. More than a quarter of them fell short, inside Gaza. ”
They are their own worst enemy. Israel withdrew from Gaza, left it to the Palestinians to run themselves and the Palestinians decide to go with a theocratic misogynistic corrupt elite, who can’t even make a successful tube launched rocket..

    • Don’t you get tired of endlessly spouting the same old crap. Just for once, please take the time to disprove any the facts that Leslie presents. It would also help if you did some critical thinking about the effects of power imbalances, oppression, forced dispossession and deprivation of basic human rights. It shouldn’t be hard. It is not ancient history for European and Russian Jews!

    • Oh yes Gaby. 5 year old Alaa Abdullah Riyad Qaddoum was obviously a vicious terrorist ..all Palestinians, especially those who live in Gaza, are terrorists ..fishermen terrorists. farmer terrorists, schoolteacher terrorists, doctor terrorists, student terrorists,
grandmother terrorists, little brother terrorists, baby sister terrorists..
Muslim terrorists, Christian terrorists, secular terrorists..the whole lot

    • Soon after WWII, the US statesman Dean Acheson warned the US. He said,’ ‘Creating Israel on land already inhabited by Palestinians would imperil both American and all Western interests in the region.’
In spite of warnings such as this President Truman supported establishing a Jewish state on land primarily inhabited by Muslims and Christians. It may be news to some that during and after Israel’s founding war, Zionist forces attacked a number of Christian churches and institutions.
A former Time Magazine editor Jerusalem Bureau chief Donald Neff wrote five books on Israel-Palestine.
He reported in detail Zionist attacks on Christian sites and the fact that Zionists killed and wounded hundreds of people including children, refugees and clergy at Christian churches and institutions.
Christians and Muslims accounted for more than 90 percent of the population of Palestine. Mostly Orthodox Christians but Catholic churches also were broken into and looted.
      A grubby history indeed.
Actually in memo after memo, year after year, US diplomatic and military experts pointed out that Zionism was contrary to both US interests and principles but some other curious influence prevailed.
The paradox was that conscripted Palestinian men had been sent to the front German lines by the Turks but with great heroism many of these deserted (the penalties were dire) and joined the forces of Lawrence and Allenby to overthrow the Ottoman Empire. Without the defeat of the Ottomans Israel would not exist. Talk about out of the frying pan into the fire.

  4. Population of Israel 9.2 million. Land Area of Israel 22,145 sq km.
Population of Hawaii 1.42 million. Land area of Hawaii 28,311 sq km.
    Distance from USA. 7768 km.
Perfect. Move all Israelis to Hawaii. john key would finally feel surrounded by like minded soulless.
Sorry Native Hawaiians. It’s for a good cause.

    • Well actually CB the British in the course of their squirming about a bit on the issue did offer an area in Uganda and at one stage Madagascar was suggested (pity the poor lemurs).

  5. The Realpolitik is that Israel successfully intercepted the missiles whose trajectories were a risk using Iron Dome, and then made a single counter strike that took out the entire leadership of PIJ, showing how good their intel is.
Israel has improved its media operations significantly in recent years. The result is that this got almost zero international media attention.
Another factor is that Qatar is now more careful with its funding in Gaza, thus defunding the terrorists.

All this makes Iran look very weak.

  6. Israeli airstrikes massacre Palestinian children in Gaza
    Jean Shaoul

For three days, Israel has bombarded the densely populated and impoverished coastal enclave of Gaza, targeting leaders of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), civilians and their property in the worst flare-up since May 2021.

As of Sunday evening, Israel’s “surgical” air strikes have killed at least 43 Palestinians, including Taysir al-Jabari and Khalid Mansour, senior PIJ military leaders in northern and southern Gaza. Fifteen children and four women have been killed since Friday. At least 300, more than half of them women and children, have been injured and at least 31 families made homeless.

  7. You bozos slagging off the world’s only Jewish state for defending itself would do well to remember that Israel unilaterally pulled out of Gaza in 2005, leaving infrastructure worth millions of dollars for the Palestinians who trashed it all, embraced Hamas, and turned the enclave which could have been a Singapore on the Mediterranean into a terrorist hellhole from which to base their illegal war on Israel. Never again will Israel cede land for ‘peace’. The bitter lesson has been thoroughly internalised. Jews have nowhere else to go, thanks to an antisemitic, genocidal world, and they have the will to fight and win.

    • You bozo’s slagging off the World’s only Philistine State AKA Palestine ( Based on Historical maps showing the Capital of Philistine as Gaza) would do well to remember the Mass ethnic cleansing of Palestinians by Jews ( Pre existence of Modern day Israel ) that turned Palestine into the current state. Destroyed was a thriving Culture as evidence by Photos pre conflict. Now Kiwis all love Jaffa’s but few realize it’s a nod to the World famous Oranges exported around the World from Jaffa Palestine.

      • The Philistines were long gone when the Romans re-named Judea “Palestina” to insult the Jews after they rose against their oppressors. The Arabs always called the area The Holy Land and only exerted any control there for about 22 years after brutally colonising the Levant. There has never, ever been a separate Arab identity or culture called ‘Palestinians’. The whole concept was invented in the 60s by Arafat and the KGB to delegitimise Israel. They themselves admitted it was all phoney. There has only ever been one sovereign nation state in Palestine, the Jewish one, by thousands of years, and it was re-established in 1948 and is there to stay. The Arabs should return to where they came from, surrounding Arab states, except they don’t want them.

        • The IDF greatly simplify what actually happens into making out Isreal is a victim from World War 2 and martyr of human rights when it is a bit more complex

        • Gaby lies ,,,, yet again.

There are WW1 war graves in NZ showing some of our ANZAC troops died in fighting, in PALESTINE .,,,,, pre-1920’s of course.

Arafat and the KGB did not have time machines…..

Palestinian towns, villages ,, and people ,,, were and are as real ,,,, as our NZ war graves.

Perhaps Gaby would like to deface our NZ war graves? ,,,, correcting them to align with his zionist defacing of history.
