Another howler from Police Minister Poto Williams

Police Minister blocks MP from meeting commanders, says cops ‘too busy’

Police Minister Poto Williams has refused to let National’s police spokesman meet the Commissioner or any district commanders, saying cops are too busy for him.

Mark Mitchell took over the National police portfolio late last year and has cried foul over Williams’ repeated refusals of his requests.

The Opposition MP and Williams also had a feisty exchange in the House today, where the minister accused former cop Mitchell of “disrespecting” police.

I’ve never really liked Poto Williams. Her attempt to smear Willie Jackson and stop him from becoming a member of Labour (a strategic decision that ended up winning Labour the 2017 election by the way) by hiring a PR team to promote a bullshit letter signed by 100 Young Labour activists (where is that letter with all those signatures now I wonder? All at The Standard?) has always left a bad taste in my mouth, so her latest disastrous attempts to smear Mark Mitchell is more par for the course from the Minister.

Look, no one like Mark Mitchell, and nor should they, but he is the Opposition spokesperson on Police, he has to be allowed to meet the top brass and talk to them.

This is basic stuff and yet Poto is refusing to allow him to meet Police and then has the audacity to accuse Mitchell of ‘disrespecting’ police.

Mark Mitchell worships the bloody Police, of all the things to claim he is, ‘disrespecting Police’ ain’t one of them.

This is Poto Williams playing petty games and thinking they are Machiavellian masterstrokes and then when she gets caught out in Parliament doing it, resorts to name calling Mark Mitchell.

It’s petty and it’s beneath the mana of Parliament and the office she holds.

Let Mark Mitchell meet Police and criticise his actual policy suggestions rather than play games and name call!

In light of the petty spite Trevor Mallard showed during the Dumb Lives Matter protest, do we honestly think Labour should be playing this type of politics?

  1. I think but I don’t really know that Poto Williams has previously hired pr persons to advance her cause, and I placed this in the context of yet another girl from the east side of Christchurch wanting to get power, a bit like the women from seemingly lower socio-economic families of origin who John Key seemed to favour, like Bennett and Willis, and one or two others put in important positions. Whether they always have the objectivity to do their jobs competently is another story altogether.

Mitchell wasn’t exactly from the top echelons of the NZ Police, and his post-police activities don’t impress everyone, but this looks odd. It looks tyrannical, but it may not be unreasonable not expecting Andrew Coster to have to dumb down to converse with Mark Mitchell. There’s nothing to stop Mitchell making an appointment himself to go to see anybody under the sun, anywhere. I’ve done it.

Government ministers can’t stop opposition spokesmen from having direct contact with their HOD’s – they’re not Adam Smith’s invisible hands – not really. But nor should ministers be running their diaries for them, there are other words for this.

    • Good point Snow white. We’re not in USSR/Russia, where there’s only one party POV. Let Mark Mitchell, get up from counting how much more money he’ll have under Chris Luxon’s tax cut package, to go over and talk to to Andrew Coster, one on one.

Mark can then come up with a Nat-Centric perspective “from the Police Commissioner” on how to fix society with the Police’s help and advice. Then debate it during the year- lead-up to the election.

The problem now is that the Nat-Trolls, who have developed from Drity Politics Young Nat-Trolls https://www.google.com/search?q=Chode&rlz=1C1GCEU_enNZ993NZ993&oq=Chode&aqs=chrome..69i57.2701j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&safe=active&ssui=on have vultured onto this issue. Reading the comments here, we have a misogynisti and racist hate-fest against Poto Williams (NOT Potatoe Williams). Purile teen-speak, more than likely condoned by Chris ‘Spud’ Luxon.

It’s National Party Dirty Politics trolling. My wife Michelle and I are livid with this and I am having to give her a neck rub between her posts and mine in our crusade against the “Dirty Politics of the National Party – the gift that keep on giving”

  2. Poto is a walking disaster full stop and she is one of the many reasons Labour are diving in the polls but she’s only copying the bosses example with Labour blocking the oppositions access to the police commissioner. Labour know they are weak in the law and order department.

Labour are trying to stop democracy functioning by trying to control everything. Shame on them! And I hate to concur with Barry Soper today but he’s right!

I hope it blows up in their arrogant out of touch faces!

    • X-ray. She can’t actually block access, but given the government’s reluctance to engage in dialogue with dissenters, she could get Trevor to turn the sprinklers on over Mitchell, or get dreadful music streamed through his electronics and see if that scuppers him, then blame others.

She could lock Commissioner Coster up and throw away the key, that would stop anyone from getting to him. It ( and worse ) happens in other jurisdictions of the sort which we’re heading towards now. Home detention could be another option but it can be quite hard on the wife and kiddies. What a conundrum she has created.

      • Why would a winner like Costar who is following up to date global policing policy dumb down to talk with Mitchell about outdated old loser tory methods with a special focus on Maori and Pacifica.

        • With all due respect, that’s not the point. If National was in power and wouldn’t allow Labour’s Police spokesperson to talk with senior police, especially after a major police action that was the subject of an enquiry, I’m sure you’d be screaming blue murder.

It’s a question of transparency and process. When you allow personal bias, political leanings or your like or dislike of a person come into it then you’re on shaky ground.

    • Ask Mrs XRAY, or Mr XRAY what she/he thinks of your misogyny?

Then apologise to her/him, for you developing such misogynistic viewpoints, even while married to a wo/man who has for years overlooked your stunted chode.

I’ll give you the link because I know it’s not easy searching with one hand: https://www.google.com/search?q=Chode&rlz=1C1GCEU_enNZ993NZ993&oq=Chode&aqs=chrome..69i57.2701j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&safe=active&ssui=on

Or blame her/him for being a wo/man, who has withheld her wo/manly favours from you because you sit typing with one hand at your keyboard, abusing women in New Zealand.

Hey XRAY, any relation to these Dirty Politics juveniles? https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2022/03/national-investigating-online-trolling-linked-to-young-nat-s-house.html

  3. We must remember this is the most open and transparent government ever our is that another promise not kept.

  4. Ahh, the Quota Women of the Labour Party doing all the good work they were hired for. Have they identified as a women, stated their pronouns and such?

  5. ” It’s petty and it’s beneath the mana of Parliament and the office she holds ”

I would argue that “mana ” and other virtues have been slowly diminishing for a long time from parliament.

When you have these type’s of shenanigans it is another distraction from the serious deprivation of many of our people and the way this economy enslaves and devours our most vulnerable , poorly paid and housed New Zealanders.

As a constituent of her electorate I can report that she has done very little in Christchurch East which is still suffering a decade on from the earthquakes.

    • And please enlighten us as to who was the political party in power during the earthquakes and then re-build?
Almost all the affluent roads and services have been fixed, leaving the East of Christchurch?
Gerry Brownlee and EQC were in charge?

      • As a person from Chch I am so glad National were in the driver’s seat during the earthquake. There was errors especially in the unprepared EQC area but on the whole thinks were done and most were able to move on with an end in sight. The city has rebuilt better .It has been slower than some thought but all good thinks take time.

        • You obviously don’t live in the East, Trevor?

Our friends in Christchurch told us some horrific stories about the inequities in the Christchurch rebuild and John Campbell outlined the many failings of the EQC and John Key’s National Government response and that was why John Campbell was ‘knee-capped’ by John Key.

Roads and houses in Fendalton, Merivale and Ilam were fixed first. Sports stars jumped the queues to get their houses fixed first. It was elitist and inequitable.

But, I appreciate you have your point of view Trevor and my friends down in Christchurch had theirs.

  6. I’d be willing to bet a reasonable amount that its the other way round – Police are telling her they don’t want to meet with Mitchell, and she does their bidding.

Based on a few occurrences lately, it really looks like the tail is waging the dog on Police matters

    • The police are public servants and like it or not, National at some stage will be in power again and then they will have to answer to National. But i give you a point for putting the blame on the coppers rather then the Quota Person of the Labour Party.

      • Reactionary Brat. It was the police who asked to have the sprinklers turned off when the Speaker ordered them on down at Parliament, and it was the pollies who said “ No.”
And the police were unequivocal in disassociating themselves from the Speaker’s decision to wet children and adults night and day and blast them with obnoxious loud music, so your trying to say that the coppers are pulling the pollies’ strings doesn’t tally with the facts.

    • You sound like a woman has hurt you deeply Gargamel. Mike talked about you while he was giving me a neck rub. I can give you the names of some counsellors in Auckland. I’ll be sure to cross out the names of any of them named Karen!

    • Has someone compared your private parts to a potato Gargamel?
      You sound wounded and short.
Please let me offer you some counselling names in Auckland.
My friends and I have lunches and often discuss short, inadequate men like you.
I have ruined at least 3 silk blouses and wet myself countless time, laughing at the issues that you and men like you have. Thanks goodness the seats in the cafe are leather.

    • gagarin Say what you like but do try not to sound like a slimey little guttersnipe. You are too crude. Your aesthetics jar the civilised mind. Never ever would you have been at home in classical Greece, but alas you slithered here and whine whine whine all the time. If you must do so, do it in style, with a little bit of finesse and less whining and moaning. Petulance does not become men. Or women. Or children. It’s nursery rhyme with a moral territory did you know ? Try again.

      • fraid your own literary attempts aren’t as impressive as your hallucinations lead you to believe, annie

  7. The only thing surprising here is that Jacinda tolerates a loser like Potatoe doing this kind of crap. But then she wouldn’t be much different would she. I wonder what Potatoe has on Jacinda that will come out of the woodwork because, OMG, she is one useless minister.

    • So Sour Kraut, a couple of issues with your response:

      1. Her name is Poto, not Potatoe, you misogynist and/or racist prick.
      2. You are implying the Leader of the Labour Party has acted inappropriately and , that Poto has inside information about the leader’s impropriety.

More dirty politics Sour Kraut, just like your young National Party members, trolling women. “This was constant, this was targeted and it was toxic. Basically misogyny that was practised online. “This was clearly targeted at women political figures in Christchurch.”

Dirty politics and the National Party – the gift that keeps on giving!

      • potato is not a racist or misogynist term it merely implies she’s a vegetable maybe a harsh but not unreasonable assumption.

        • Haven’t you got the largest European, and democratic country to subjugate Gagarin? Too much time above the ozone layer.

It’s racist because Poto is Cook Island Maori and it is denigrating her name. Her name is Poto, racist, misogynist prick supporter.

So, do you also support what the Dirty Politics young Nats did too Gagarin? https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2022/03/national-investigating-online-trolling-linked-to-young-nat-s-house.html

It would be like me calling you a gargatuan Cossack tossack, using the first 3 letters of your name and the Russian epithet analogy.

And don’t try and argue against Sour Kraut’s misogyny, his right-leaning post reeks of the born-to-rule Tory claptrap that Aaron Gilmore spouted, and John Key used to justify his hair-fondling misogyny.

Play the ball, not the man Gargamel, otherwise every post you make from now on, people will associate with Gargamel, the little pale blue chode smurf!

          • oh so you can’t actually answer my point then mike….I think that means you lose…

go back and check my posts on the ukraine then feel free to apologise

if you want to get into name calling we can but don’t bring a dollar shop rubber sword to a gunfight.

        • My wife and I acknowledge your point that implications and harsh assumptions are fair game then Gargamel.

You eat blue Smurfs, therefore you like blue – implication a Nat voter.
You like blue, because your own testes are blue – implication – lack of sex and lots of onanism.
You support blue-young-Nat trolling and alt-right Nuremberg NZ because you have not come out against these right-wing practices and sites.

Assumption – you agree with Dirty Politics. You say potatto, you say potato, we say Poto. It’s racist and it’s misogynist.

            • Agree that potatoes can be great! 🙂
              With or without cabbage-in-a-pickle 🙂 🙂
All we need now is for CB to post that we’re “disrespecting potatoes” by likening them to the minister.

              Sweet Potato Soul

            • Sour Kraut, you and gagarin calling Poto Williams a ‘potato’ did not have any complimentary undertones or definitions.

Your puerile “excuse” for your trolling of politicians is as bad as your younger Dirty Politics’ counterparts. https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/128230199/i-am-eggstein-young-nat-jessee-mackenzie-admits-trolling-female-politicians-resigns-from-national-party

Here’s how young Dirty Politics operatives train for life in the National Party:

The targets included Christchurch city councillor Sara Templeton, Labour Minister Megan Woods and Ilam MP Sarah Pallett.

Via the profiles, MacKenzie asked Woods how much in royalties she was receiving for letting a pork crackling company use her likeness. The packet cover had a picture of a pig.

He asked Templeton if the menstrual products she used were eco-friendly and would save the Earth.

All three women blocked the profile from their social media pages, but then MacKenzie, via the Eggstein profile started making comments about Templeton on other people’s social media posts, including those of fellow councillors.

Do you agree Sour Kruat, with your National Party leaders, Chris Luxon and Peter Goodfellow? that:

“National does not tolerate any bullying and the party will look into this under our new code of conduct,” he said.

National Party president Peter Goodfellow said allegations brought to their attention on Thursday had been investigated and “a conversation was had with the persons concerned”.

“Upon reflection of the Party Code of Conduct, those members have now resigned from the National Party.”

You won’t endorse Luxon/Goodfellow Sour Unkraut, so just slide back under your rock with the other slaters at BFD and Nuremberg NZ, which you still haven’t denounced.

          • sorry guys I literally do not get the point you’re trying to make but ascribing positions I clearly don’t hold is the very definition of lame.

            • Do you agree Sour and Gagarin, with your National Party leaders, Chris Luxon and Peter Goodfellow? that:

“National does not tolerate any bullying and the party will look into this under our new code of conduct,”

Simple question that either one, or both of you to answer?
              Yes, or No.
              It’s not rocket science

              • not being a national supporter I can’t comment other than ‘what pricks these young nats are’

what worries me as much is your ‘if you do not conform…exterminate exterminate EXTERMINATE..as everyones favorite nazi pepperpots used to say,
you pair would have made excellent Checkists or maoist red guards sniffing out unorthodoxy.

and why do you promote a site ‘nuremburg’ you allegedly hate with a live link, are you being paid for every click you generate?

      • And waiting for your reply, drumming finger on the computer desk looking out at Rangitoto, where we won’t see America’s Cup sailing.

        • and if you don’t retract your racist, misogynist swipe, you are condoning National members trolling women, in the same way that you won’t denounce Nuremberg.NZ.

Here’s the site that aligns with your racist, misogynist attitudes Sour Kraut.

Denounce your own racist. misogyny and Nuremberg.NZ Sour Unkraut https://www.nuremberg.nz/

          • By the way Sour Kraut, I hope you didn’t vote Poto up the “Accused List” to number 26.

If the police can find out about your National Party’s young Dirty-Politics-trolls-in-training, harassing and trolling women, you can be sure they’ll be watching the IP addresses of those that vote on the site you won’t denounce.

It would be good for you and your sole, to denounce https://www.nuremberg.nz/the-accused/ now, so you don’t end up in a holding cell and be double-bunked with Butch McDick,

They might let you off for good behaviour, by your lawyer showing you saw the error of your ways and you disavowed yourself of your National Party Dirty Politics Mission Impossible.

Do it here, do it now Sour Kraut! You know it makes sense!

          • Mike J. The intimately personal nature of that unsavoury trolling suggests that the male concerned may be a rather sick character and in need of some sort of mental health help. Much of it was worse than misogyny, and one would hope that his flat mates are not of similar ilk if they’re wanting to be National Party politicians. It was vomit-inducing, as I’m sure you’d agree. I prefer not to say more.

            • National Party’s Dirty Politics
They come to this site trolling and denigrate, it’s dirty politics as usual, for the born-to-rule National Party to call Poto Williams, potatoe! They think they are entitled to say and do, whatever they want. Just another platform in the dirty politics media assault on women, decency, race and the Labour Party.

              gagarin March 31, 2022 at 7:48 pm
potato is not a racist or misogynist term it merely implies she’s a vegetable maybe a harsh but not unreasonable assumption.

Dirty politics attacks Poto in a derogatory, personal attack ‘vegetable’, but it started with a phone call to a talkback show like Hone Carter against Maori; it continued with Roger Bridge’s racist and mysogynist “calling himself Merv [and] phoned Marcus Lush on NewstalkZB to discuss Samarakone’s campaign.

Aaron Gilmore’s entitlement and arrogance was another insight into the psyche of National Party’s dirty politics operatives, coming out of the gutter to show the public their real faces and their expectations of the entitled born-to-rule entitled:

Christchurch lawyer Andrew Riches, who dined with Gilmore, was so embarrassed by the MP’s behaviour that he left the waiter an apology note.

Riches alleged Gilmore asked the barman “Do you know who I am?” and threatened to have Prime Minister John Key intervene to have him sacked. Key sacked Gilmore for this, but refused to sack himself for fondling a waitress’s hair! Will Smith self-head-slap moment!

We read Nicky Hager’s ‘Dirty Politics’, a seminal indictment of the National Party and we had to have breaks from reading it, to shake our heads in total disbelief at the disgusting, subhuman antics of the National Party.

More recently, we’ve had the Will Smith – Chris Rock Dirty Politics memes: https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2022/03/christopher-luxon-says-will-smith-chris-rock-meme-on-national-s-facebook-page-wasn-t-appropriate.html.

Add to this litany of dirty politics, the latest young National Party trolls’ toxic trolling of women and it’s just another example of Dirty Politics: https://www.1news.co.nz/2022/03/31/two-young-nats-resign-after-female-politicians-trolled-online/

Dirty politics wannabes are here on this site and they refuse to denounce any aspect of their right-wing trolling.

And no doubt it will come about that dirty politics operatives and right, and alt-right agitators were pivotal in the occupation of Parliament grounds and will be instrumental in the other planned 2 week occupation.

When it gets out that the National Party are behind the upcoming planned 2-week occupation, they’ll never get back into political power in New Zealand.

There were some squeaky sphincters of the young Nat trolls being interviewed during the week and caught out by their IP addresses.

Hopefully, there will be some more quivering, and squeaky sphincters around the dirty politics involvement of the National Party alt-right operatives.

            • It appears these young, in-training Dirty Politics operatives, won’t be out of the norm when they end up in the National Party as politicians or in the heirarchy.

With their Dirty Politics mentor Judith Collins still in National, the scourge and stench of Dirty Politics will continue, no matter what Luxon and Goodfellow want.

Time for Judith to “retire to spend more time with family”, bow out ungracefully. Especially with an election next year, Judith won’t be able to bite her forked tongue often enough, nor keep a hold of the reins of her long and toxic relationship with Cam Slater and his updated Dirty Politics website, BFD.

With John Campbell looking like he will be sidelined from being anywhere near Chris Luxon, time for someone to tap Nicky Hager on the shoulder and sponsor a sequel to Dirty Politics.

There’s plenty of money around, now that the America’s Cup is off to Barthelona.

    • Cabbage needs to learn to spell. Potato, singular, has no “e.” You should have learned this at primary school.

        • Without Iraq a police dog handler may not have ended up another National Party rich boy now wanting to chat up the police commissioner and district commanders and at one time aspiring to lead the Nat’s and the country. That’s what the dogs of war can bring home.

  8. Young Nat’s Trolling Opposition Female MP’s Dirty Politics 101 raising it’s ugly head again, is Crosby Textor in behind this latest gig ?

Must be some room for Winston Peters NZF to get 5%, with all this nonsense coming out of National/ACT lately, I still can’t see how people rate David Seymour above Winston Peters. Winston on a Bad Day is still better than David Seymour on a Good Day.

Maybe we may see the rebirthing of NZF over the next 18 months ? Definitely some space on the Centre Right ?
