  1. What’s up with Whakatane? The place sounds as if it is has an opeh-door policy on policies.
Trees now. A stand of trees has been chopped, that has been an amenity to people and kiwi for years.
The word is that one newcomer rang someone up at the Council, got an okay and organised their felling. Did he? get the response, oh okay mate there are plenty more where they came from?

Residents of a Whakatāne suburb are fuming after a stand of trees, a home to nesting kiwi, was felled without public consultation.

I see that safety and shading were concerns raised. But these trees had been extant for some time, and presumably a residence had been built nearby. There needs to be legislation applying throughout the country that conditions prior to a new venture must prevail, and be agreed to before building commences.
People should not be allowed to try and change the conditions to suit themselves, adapt or stay out.

I think tarring and feathering by some urban terrorists of Councillors and Administration heads should start happening. A shock that would get people put in prison, but worse will happen if we don’t start taking control of our top organisations – we have got to stop this being the she’ll-be-right, don’ make a fuss people.

  2. I look forward to a Great War in the Arabian or Persian Gulf area, starting in Iraq, where the Strait of Hormuz gets shut through missile strikes and so, and where tanker and other vessel traffic through the Red Sea and neighbouring marine areas get seriously disrupted, that will push petrol prices sky high, and may finally motivate lazy fossil fuel addicted Kiwi drivers to give up their polluting cars.

A Great War in the Gulf could lead to great environmental benefits.
