With 2018 over and 2019 dawning, as co-chair of the Māori Caucus inside the Labour Party, I wanted to take a moment to congratulate and celebrate our Māori MPs who have had a challenging, but rewarding year.
Right now the New Horizons Space Probe is 6.4 Billion Km from Earth and sending back data to NASA and last October the Japanese landed a small robot on a asteroid hurtling through Space 300 KM away.
Those are amazing achievements.
In 2018, the National Party – under the leadership of Simon Bridges – very clearly attempted to push for the “Trump vote” in a bid to increase their voter base.
Alienating voters to the Left forces them to to vote for the Right, even when the Right’s economic agenda actually ends up hurting those voters while empowering the already wealthy.
Maybe explain to the Millennial staff the impact this will have on the price of avocados and it might get some coverage? How about suggesting the Stock Exchange liked a Louis CK joke on Twitter or did a micro aggression against trans inclusion?
Could the economic armageddon get some coverage then?
The truth is that the vested interests that create the pollution and economic framework that is making climate change the catastrophe that it is will not do anything meaningful to disrupt their interests.
US citizen Bahia Amawi is a language specialist who works with autistic and speech-impaired children. She received a master’s degree in speech pathology in 1999 and, since then, has specialized in evaluations for young children with language difficulties . For the last nine years she has worked with developmentally disabled, autistic, and speech-impaired elementary school children in Austin, Texas. Each year she signed an annual contract that allowed her to continue.
But now she has been told that she is fired!
