Surprise, surprise, the bloody NZ Police are targeting environmentalists again…

Police presence concerns activists

Police questioning attendees of a Dunedin school climate strike banner-painting session about future protest plans left some feeling ”scared”, an environmental activist says.

About 20 people, from teenagers to people in their 60s, gathered at Knox Church hall on Tuesday to create banners for the School Strike 4 Climate tomorrow.

Two uniformed officers came to the banner-painting and began asking people about their protest plans regarding a petroleum conference in Queenstown next week.

Environmental activist Jack Brazil said it felt ”intimidating” and left some first-time strikers ”feeling very uncomfortable and scared”.

They told police they were there for a school strike banner-painting, he said.

”The police said they were looking for numbers for the petroleum conference as there was ‘only one ambulance in Queenstown’.”

It was ”completely unacceptable behaviour” and seemed as though the police were acting on behalf of the conference organisers, he said.

…once again, the Police are targeting environmentalists when the threat is white supremacists. How many Greenpeace activists have shot up a Mosque?

The response by the cops to this was jaw dropping…

A police spokesman said the officers were trying to ”establish a line of communication with the group” and discuss ways to keep them and others safe during the conference.

”The group refused to engage with police, which is disappointing.

…wtf? Their refusal to play ball with the man was disappointing was it?

When the cops can actually look beyond their own jaded views of who the bloody the enemy is and catch white supremacist terrorists plotting a massacre for two years, then they get shirty over activists not wanting anything to do with them.

Until then, bugger off and go catch the real bloody threat. Gun toting white supremacists.

  1. Or bearing mind no kiwi ever shot up a mosque how about the police simply do their job and don’t give foreign extremists or gang members a gun license.

  2. Last time someone here criticised a police presence somewhere, I want down and I queried the local cops, who said that they were there for protection. Chances are this is the same.

In this country there are nutters who see environmentalists as baddies. Police establishing lines of communication with them, doesn’t make the police baddies -on the contrary it is good community policing.
If anything untoward happens to any environmentalist, or anybody there, the usual suspects will squeal that the police weren’t doing their job.

Maybe some environmentalists are baddies I don’t know, but if they are baddies, then better the police be there anyway.

This, and policing white supremacists are not mutually exclusive. I think that the police can multi-task just the way that we women always have. Some men may not understand that. Take it as a given.

Failure to pre-detect the ChCh shooter was not the fault of the NZ Police, if anyone’s, it was the fault of our security services – the one’s who were pondering having a reality television series made about themselves…the spies with the pearl earrings…

  3. > Gun toting white supremacists.

Sadly, this describes a lot of the NZ Police themselves, as we’ve seen from the studies that show non-white kiwis being questions, arrested, charged, convicted, and imprisoned at higher rates than white kiwis, for the same sorts of behaviour.

    • Strypey – There’s truth in what you say, except that theoretically and officially the cops see us all as equal, but the white supremacists most certainly do not, and anecdotally there’s more abject snivelling little losers among the white supremacists in this country than there are in the police.

Cops here are becoming a better ethnic mix and currently Maori women are being wooed, with special courses available – there’s a specific name for those courses – some PC title which I forget. That’s great, because like I said, women are so good at multi-tasking, including our social networking skills.

All those sort of demonstrations and public gatherings get policed; I had the figure for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s pointless visit here, which was scandalous in a country where we have hungry and homeless kids and P labs all over the place.

  4. i cant remember the last time an environmentalist shot up a city police are warped federated farmers are a far more violent group that have guns protests have smart phones
