Let’s support our young doctor’s as they strike to maintain their current working conditions which limits how many days , how many night shifts ,and how many hours they are required to work in a row

Tired doctors are more likely to make mistakes so it is in all of our interests to support them as they resist the DHB’s trying to break their collective bargaining power

Kia Kaha Junior Doctors!

Bryan Bruce is one of NZs most respected documentary makers and public intellectuals who has tirelessly exposed NZs neoliberal economic settings as the main cause for social issues.

  1. Maybe the government needs to make a determination on safe staffing levels for doctors (as per nurses) and safe work conditions.

The HB advocacy seems to be that there should be flexibility (so they can work around existing award conditions) – where they can use build up of workload to get staff to consent for continuing to work.

Presumably as way to avoid hiring more staff/ease pressure on their budget. More genuinely there is the issue of peak demand for services, but surely an efficient manager should have supply of staff contingency to cope, not expect staff to conveniently forget safe work condition standards.

At heart there is a matter of trust, HB’s are driven by their budget, and once staff lose protection of staffing rules and safe working conditions, they know they are going to be taken advantage of.

If staff who work X +2 days on instead of X, can then work X-2 days instead of X … seems fair in a sense as a balance between two parties as per a contract/award, but there still has to be an acceptance that safe working conditions are part of patient care and there have to be limits.

  2. You will notice this snide article in the NZ Herald.

You have to pay to read more of it.

This is what you get when woke left crap supersedes what is really important. A pay – to – read article.

So , guess what New Zealanders?

Here’s your 35 years of bitch neo liberalism / humanism for you in user pays format.

    JUST HOW YOU WANTED IT.

    • Only someone who blames the woke left for everything would connect that to MSM on-line having pay per view as occurs with hard copies in all places but the library.
