One Network News Poll shock for National

It’s official, TV3s Poll was not a rogue poll, there really has been a large fundamental shift within the electorate towards Jacinda & Labour.

Swings this large in Polls suggests that the public have turned on National, that the sleaze and scandal has been enough to damage Simon’s leadership and the haphazard way he has wielded power.

The electorate think he is clumsy and weak, that is the kiss of death for a leader.

The alarm bells should be ringing within National HQ, this is a momentum away from them.

Fair minded NZers don’t expect Labour to have fixed everything after 9 years of underfunding – they want to believe in Jacinda’s Politics of Kindness and she needs to deliver that faith.

  1. Very true Mr Bradbury.

National MPs still seem to be the smug buggers they have always been.

But they have nothing to back it up with.

Let them start the cat fight, because it will be between two females and I predict it will get dirty behind closed doors.

Any way, good luck to the one who becomes their leader, it will be short lived, until the next suckers turn

  2. “that is the sound of.. inevitability”

Not so funnily, Collins will be very bad for NZ if she gets to be prime minister, Bridges would merely have been ineffectual.

  3. Bridges’ brigade need to take stock and he should step down. The internal battle lines will have been drawn and people will be jockeying for position. Judith Collins has positioned herself for a tilt at the leadership, so here goes.

  4. Interesting to note that the blogger of record, Kiwiblog, for the Royal New Zealand National Party, of Communist China. Has made no mention so far of either of these two polls.

    • Interesting. as is National’s internal poll that was leaked last December that had National on 41% Labour ahead on 44% which pretty much lines up with these 2 polls.

  5. It will indeed be Judith’s turn now, but that will soon turn around the fortunes of Jacinda Stardust Dear, wait and see.

For the rest, it shows the populace is largely a body of mindless sheeples, with no substance, they follow a leader that appears easy going and charming, whether they do much, that is not so relevant.

As long as they do not do too big stuff ups.

It shows also, nobody really cares much about Kiwibuild, strange that, is it not?

From Key to Jacinda, NZers are indeed largely a mindless bunch of … , I better shut my mouth now. Or was the words ‘Sleepy Hobbits’?

  6. I don’t know why people are making a big thing of kiwibuild in the hutt valley the developer in pomare is struggling to sell the last 4 x 500k plus homes so it ain’t just kiwi build having problems cause the houses are far too expensive.

    • Yep, when 40+% of people are on minimum wages which is near impossible to live on and in many cases in real terms less than being on a benefit (thus the rise of social welfare like WFF, accomodation benefit etc for those in full time work in NZ) and more residents arriving with open work permits daily or working as unpaid (and untaxed) members of families or paying for a job and people who can get residency with the most tenuous job such as a restaurant worker or health care assistant thus wages are dropping like stones and living costs going through the roof as local people can’t afford housing due to increasing the demand side at alarming rates.

Politicians would do well to educate themselves how NZ became a low waged, less skilled nation with sky high cost of living.

Like being duped over Kiwibuild by lobbyists and government advisors.

Likewise the government is at risk of believing the hype which they have fallen for before (aka Labour would win the 2014 election or Greens voters would keep rising) that Natz and their dirty politics campaigns like to manipulate.

…Such as that Labour and the coalition is doing a wonderful job…. …people are not worse off by current policy of immigration putting demand on housing (bought in by Natz and not changed by Labour soon enough)… aka watered down to ridiculous level like the foreign buyers policy which allows many foreign buyers and non citizens to buy here while pretending it doesn’t.

NZ in general hates the Natz, but I’m not sure Labour is that popular either, nor is NZ First anymore as they did not keep any of their promises on TPPA, foreign buyers and immigration controls…

Greens stopped giving away their questions to Natz and NZ water rights for a minute and have not reclaimed a cunt or asked some bro to delete themselves so seem to have gone up a bit…

Can’t have that so saw James Shaw wanting more taxes again.

If only Greens and Labour target the taxes at those that don’t currently pay anything and are operating a cash economy here or multinationals paying less taxes, they might have more takers, rather than taking from the middle to give to the increasing poor and those on welfare in large new houses, driving nice cars but have arranged their affairs to have no NZ income thus qualifying for welfare here…

      • I was in a furniture store recently, this store is part of a large nationwide chain. The salesperson I spoke to mentioned the chain of stores had just been sold and she was being made redundant in a few days, in fact the entire workforce of this chain had been made redundant. Apparently some of the workers had been in their jobs for a decade or more and were very upset and scared they would not find other employment. I was told the new owners of the chain are Indian, and have replaced the kiwi workers with Indians.

If a white person had bought a chain of stores and replaced the Indian workers with white people there would be a huge outcry. The other way around, and all you hear is…crickets.

I voted for a change to the mass immigration policies that are driving down opportunities and wages for kiwis in NZ but my vote was wasted, there is nothing but minor tinkering with immigration happening. For the last decade or so we have been giving on average around 50,000 people residency in NZ each year, this is about the same number as are born in NZ each year. So around 100,000 new residents in NZ each year, of which only around 38,000 are maori or euro kiwi (births). And then of course there are the kiwis who leave for overseas making the demographic changes happen even faster. The founding peoples of this country are on.the way to minority status.

Around 75 percent of people getting residency in NZ are Asian (statistics are all available on the immigration website). We will get to a demographic tipping point in a decade or two where the baby boomers are passing on, and the descendents of the founding peoples of NZ are outvoted by the new Asian residents and their descendents. Maybe the new residents then want to further open the immigration floodgates because they feel more comfortable amongst their own people, and there will be no way of stopping that because there will not be enough numbers voting against it. There are 4 billion people in Asia.

What happens then is unknown. Will they let old school kiwis stay, or will kiwis need to leave because there are no jobs or opportunities for them once they become minorities? Will the saga of the furniture chain be repeated on a nationwide scale once NZ becomes a majority Asian country? Uncharted territory ahead.

        • It is so sad. Apparently so easy to make Kiwi’s redundant here. There is so much money in getting $40k per person from immigration scams and gain residency while the government says Kiwis are too lazy to work and keep the open visas going and allow very low skilled people to settle here while putting Kiwis out of work…

No or meagre pay outs for redundancy in NZ. Hard to believe our government is ok with this.

          https://www.radionz.co.nz/news/in-depth/365540/why-being-made-redundant-in-nz-is-so-tough

P.s . the government can provide all the training it wants but that isn’t making Kiwis keep jobs when you can make money from immigration scams and increasingly that is what NZ business is about as well as in some situations having only the race of those that bought the former NZ company involved and everyone who used to work there made redundant so they can’t blow the whistle. You would think that that is against race relations aka only employing one race while making all of the former staff redundant but increasingly it is starting to happen in tourism and some restaurant chains like subway only seem to employ one race of workers.

(Also fast food braying against the paltry stopping of employing migrants when they are caught underpaying workers as jobs for residency is now their business, not the actual fast food!)

        • Population growth and immigration is the main factor that keeps this Ponzi Scheme of an economy running, that is the sad truth.

Without that there would be no significant ‘growth’ in NZ Inc., and as governments fear the growth addicted business operators, who are happy with ever more immigrants and foreign investors, the government will not dare slow down immigration and investment from overseas that much, if at all.

NZ Inc. has one of the highest rates of immigration per capita in the world, and the day will come that we will have a population of over ten million.

And almost nobody will be better off.

        • You don’t identify this nationwide furniture store chain.
But I guess all we have to do is watch out for the one where the entire staff will soon all be brown and speak Hindi.

Your story doesn’t pass the smell test.

          • I understand that some of the Auckland redundant workers are thinking about going to the media and I hope they do. I am not going to name this furniture chain at this stage as it is up to the affected workers to do so, and I don’t want to pre empt their publicity if they do decide to go to the media, but I can assure you that this is a real story.

  7. At least when she is interviewed you don’t feel you are being lied to when she responds to the question even when she was being barracked by Dann on Q+A last night.
She holds her own by being treated typically as a Labour PM would expect.
Unlike Key no fireside chats in the ninth floor office here.

  8. Yesterday Bridges told RNZ’s Morning Report that he doesn’t view the leadership of his party as “some sort of popularity contest”, and he’s confident he’ll keep his job.
When asked if he’d sought an assurance from Collins that she wouldn’t challenge him for the leadership, he said “she’s made it quite clear she’s not interested”.
“I’m the leader and I will stay the leader.”

“A week is a long time in politics – Harold Wilson, British PM”.

  9. Wait till the neoliberal brigade of the tax working group and the wokies introduce the threat of more capital gains taxes… the Labour obsession of more taxes worked for 9 years for Natz… only Greens were keen last election on capital gains taxes aimed at tax payers who actually pay taxes (vs the many rich in NZ not targeted by capital gains taxes in the cash economy, multiple identities, multinationals that don’t pay their share of company taxes in NZ like the local companies who are now being made bankrupt by the discrepancy and too small to attract the attention or waste time on the lengthy, unfair tender processes designed for large companies that are currently wiping out local NZ companies here) and look where that got them in the polls…

    • Remember the old Greens before the wokies, imagine how ‘racist’ the current Green wokies might find the ‘buy NZ made’ campaign now… who would have though a decade on even if you buy NZ made, the corporation is likely to be overseas owned and the worker never born here.. neoliberalism 21st century style.

Saw on Fair Go last night, some poor organic farmer with a family run chicken business, was about to be wiped out by a much larger company who invented a fictional ‘family’ logo similar to theirs enough to fool someone but harder to win in court… very hard to win against large competitors in NZ who not only undercut someone doing something more ethical but also undermine the actual fabric of fairness and competition with their loopholes…

      • BTW – this was just a small chicken business being taken down by a slightly bigger still Kiwi owned (I think) competitor Imagine when the giant multinationals start flexing their muscles that are increasingly owning all the businesses here (Tegal, Silver Fern farms and Wrightsons now 50% or more owned by Chinese/Hong Kong multinationals) what is going to happen to the local farmers???

In the US farming is generally owned and run by giant multinationals who then sell to supermarkets who are also giant multinationals and soon in NZ our trade will only be giant offshore multinationals who own the supply chains and they will be the only ones big enough for the tenders…

Also when that happens food standards and workers rights plummets… e coli if rife in the US… counterfeit food is rife in China.. we will be exporting good food and importing in cheap counterfeit food with all the biosecurity and health threats that poses…

It’s not just the milk powder, 10% of Chinese oil from cheaper restaurants is collected from places like sewers to give you an idea what we can expect next from some entrepreneur making a dollar here in NZ with their import/export business…

  10. They’re going to have to go searching for another leader again – like they did with John Key. They’ll have to get started soon so the candidate is ready for the 2026 election.

  11. The fact neither of the main parties can make it to 50% support is indicative in my view of the lack of confidence people have in politics and politicians in general.

    • I think it supports the idea that there are two types of people. Those who believe there are two types of people and those who don’t.
