Two damning and contrasting books about Indonesian colonialism in the Pacific, both by activist participants in Europe and New Zealand, have recently been published. Overall, they are excellent exposes of the harsh repression of the Melanesian people of West Papua and a world that has largely closed a blind eye to to human rights violations.
Here’s how much compassion I have for anyone earning less money than me.
Apparently The Spinoffs “Gonzo reporting, scorching hot takes, and ruthless media analysis” – (that’s honestly a real quote, I’m not factiously making that up) – has gone down about as well as Donald Trump acting in a self written play performed at Silo Theatre during Pride Week.
Another home goal by a Government who seem to think their problem is a lack of ‘gender intelligence’ in selling their ideas, and not basic strategic competence. Isn’t it time someone called back in Matt McCarten? Hasn’t he been punished enough and isn’t this incompetence starting to hurt?
Why let the war mongers dictate the narrative? Why not have a leader who can articulate a vision of co-operation in the Pacific challenge that narrative by being direct in our criticism while inclusive in our solutions?
