What the bloody hell is going on at The AM Show?
After getting heavily criticised by the entire news media establishment for deciding to ban Winston for being 3 minutes late to his live cross, The AM Show this morning said they had decided after being so petulant, to magnanimously offer him the slot back.
Winston predictably told The AM Show to go stick it, so what did The AM Show do? They detailed with the awful Tova O’Brien the other interview Winston would be doing, which was an Australian interview and then they went on and on about Winston deciding to talk to Australians and not NZers.
What is going on here? Are they really this childish or are they desperately trying to get attention?
Are the ratings really diving this low?
The AM Show were the ones who banned Winston and now they are sticking it to him by trying to embarrass him for not coming back???
I’ve never understood the appeal of Duncan Garner, he’s just not very good. I’ve rarely seen him provide insight and there are times I just don’t think he understands the political issues he’s debating.
He can do a good interview, I’ve seen him, but its rare.
Mark is Mark, if Duncan was quicker he could allow Mark to do his thing and challenge him more to make it less a one sided rant and more a banter.
Breakfast should set the news agenda for the day and provide copy for mid morning, but there is nothing to recycle here.
The AM Show is the intellectual equivalent of having a mince pie and coke for breakfast. It’s a wasted opportunity, and surely the Executives at Newshub should be considering a replacement show.
It is a show that appears designed for the most bitter Nat voter types who would otherwise call ZB to rant and rave about hard work, invisible privilege and growing your own vegetables whilst secretly attending tennis club swinger parties.
And of course, its all about Dunky’s “Gotcha” moments.

Still, Richardson is a functioning public exhibit of a true National Party supporter and that is something worth studying.

dunnycan and merkin are awful. listen to their voices. garner is a whiner and merkin sounds like his balls never dropped and he is still waiting. as for their intellectual achievement I am not sure that anyone is home except the line to their bankbooks.

Both. Keys no longer in power , and for that matter so is their poor mans version , – Bill English. There is a new govt and a new feeling afoot in NZ , and they don’t like it. Gone is the heavy influence of Keys neo liberalism and the low hanging fruit that they could perpetuate ie: beneficiary / worker / union bashing . And now they have no one to demonize they are like fish out of water with subject matter.
That’s because so many they formerly made their living out of by lambasting are now having their plights reviewed and its no longer politically correct to put the boot into these people.
If you’ve ever worked among these types you will see what a bubble they live in. I’ts tacky , elitist, – in a word- they are prats.
So many in that industry are just that , – prats.
Spoiled, egotistical prats.

If Amanda Gillies rolls her eyes any harder, she’ll probably suffer an aneurysm. She’s wasted on that miserable excuse for a show. Rename it the AG Show, and let Amanda host it alone. Duncan and Mark can return to the sandpit where they can argue with Hosking over who gets to play with the Tonka truck.

I don’t like to be harsh on the Garner one. He is clearly an edgy, disjointed, rather baffled young fellow. He never smiles. The poor lad.
The Richardson seems to be blessed with a girl’s approach to cruelty and nastiness. There are thousands of Richardsons about. They are not amusing. He snarls – in a she like manner.
I mean, for God’s own Country Sake – surely we could could have some grown ups on at Am and Pm. With smiles – Not Sulks
If the AM Sow keeps dumping politicians from their show, Garner and his two two co-hosts will spend the morning interviewing each other.
Not that I care particularly much, all three of those clowns are a waste of space.

The AM Show are showing to us all their lack of credibility especially when they are so eager to embrace the NZ National Party. Is the AM Show an extension of the NZ National Party and hence their temper tantrum of late?
I don’t bother with the AM Show. Its shallowness and pettiness are just so childish. Still isn’t that the NZ National Party through and through? When they, National, just cannot get their way they resort to almost schoolyard bullying temper tantrums!!!!! The AM Show is, like I have just said, an extension of the NZ National Party.
It’s rather a bad reflection back upon TV3 whom I once respected and admired because they would question deeply what politicians did. But once John Key became part-time prime minister of New Zealand and conducted a successful witch-hunt of removing questioning journalists from its midst it demeaned itself to the low level of Mike Hosking.
I am so looking forward to seeing John Campbell on TVNZ because that is where the best journalists now appear to be. TV3 has demeaned itself and no-one can take a Show(like the AM one)all that seriously let alone believe the presenters are supposedly intelligent and well educated humans with an ounce of no political bias especially towards National.
I cannot get my head around the language that is being used. ban, suspension, etc. this is school stuff and not nearly the required standard for public discourse. dunnycan and merkin should grow up and grow a pair instead of this childish swingeing behaviour as they try and act like mature adults.
