New Poll dangerous for Government & Simon Bridges

The new TV3 Poll is dangerous for the Government and Simon Bridges…

…our sources tell us that Judith is already starting to move against Bridges.

Judith Devotees point at National gaining once again to 45.1% while Bridges dips as the problem.

National Party voting block made up of rednecks, hardline Chinese NZers, Farmers and property speculators angry that the new Government has slowed their capital gains are solidifying around National, they aren’t dissipating.

What no one is appreciating to date is how deeply polarised NZ culture actually is now.  National voters are convinced they were cheated and are openly hateful towards the new Government, the new Government is acting too slowly to bring genuine gains to their voter block and those supporters are drifting away.

There has been a total lack of communications strategy by the new Government – why the Christ they aren’t using Willie Jackson more to lead the attack against National in the media is anyones guess.

Judith is building her coup against Bridges, it will likely occur at the end of this year so she has 18 months leading into the 2020 election.

This new Government didn’t believe they had won on election night (despite being assured they would) and so didn’t have anything ready which means they are still falling over themselves with no clear momentum.

There is a real danger now that this will be a one term Government, if Judith takes power, the plan is to unleash a right wing anger which will be extreme. No one on our side of the political fence has any comprehension of what is building.

It certainly doesn’t help that the corporate mainstream media are wall to wall with right wing pundits who attack and misrepresent everything this Government does. The NZ Herald is less a newspaper and more a right wing Troll Farm while the supposed balance of ‘left’ wing commentators like Simon Wilson endlessly bitches about the truly pressing issues like cycle lanes and Lizzie Marvelly writes her ten thousandth column about how shit men are.

The Right are united, the Left can’t work out if they are Arthur or Martha, and if they did ever decide, they’d be a 6 month hui to debate pronoun use.

Meanwhile MSD and WINZ continues to screw over beneficiaries, mental health is still failing and homelessness and food parcels continue to climb while the next generation are still locked out of home ownership.

Th Left may end up realising that Simon Bridges was a far more moderate voice and far more reasonable Leader than Judith is capable of.  While the activist Left are busy screaming at a Pakeha woman pack rape survivor who got a moko for cultural appropriation, Judith is quietly licking her lips.

  1. I certainly do not think Labour is going to hell on a handcart and we are doomed, doomed I tells ya. They too rose in the poll.

Look at Labour early 2017. Their earnestly democratic but shit useless leader selection process had thrown up yet another thoroughly unappealing, unsure, lost candidate. The Nats were laughing, what a joke.

Labour had policy, it’s just as each poll went by the party knew yet again it was stuffed. So stuffed that the Greens were eating up their vote, the party at that time that looked like it knew what it was doing. Andrew Little, a man who is clearly capable, just not at leading a political party, knew it and it must have been bloody hard fronting each day.

Next on the list was what was really going on in government. Everyone had sneaking suspicions that things were nowhere near as rosy as National made out but with the OIA switched off and lying substituting everything else who apart from the National Party insiders really knew.

So elect an appealing leader in spite of Labours stupid preferred process and looked what happened, they won. The electorate was tired of National and its mates and out they went.

Now for some reason, there are some on the left who think Labour can magic away all the damage done by National in just 8 months, much less discover how bad the cards they have been dealt really is.

And if you want just one example of so many, its the road toll, people literally died and are dying because National needed the money that should have gone into road safety for its tax cuts and its stinking mirage of a surplus. There was literally no traffic law enforcement out there for starters, the police had run out of money and disbanded it.
How the fuck does Labour fix that right here, right now. They can’t.

It will take hard work over the next 3 years to claw back the damage.

Until then the world is not ending, FFS!

    • Sometimes I think the fact that Labour won the election is *because* the changed the leader a couple of months out. It meant she immediately got lots of media coverage and National didn’t have enough time to work out a strategy to counter her.

The end result is that we get Neoliberal politics for 2 more governments.

This won’t end until the population rises up and puts an end to it and I can’t think of anything more likely to goad the populace into action than 3 years of Judith Collins as Prime Minister.

  2. I think Martin that you have overlooked the power of the conservative faction of the National Party, the part that is uncomfortable with rapid change in any direction and wants a leader that can bring the various elements of the party together, not divide them.
Judith Collins will not do this.
Judith Collins is very much the darling of the rabid right faction of the National Party. The part that will kick vulnerable New Zealanders while they are down to the cheers of racists and haters such as Don Brash, Colin McVicar and Mike Hosking. People like this live for the day when they can see people like John Minto, Nicky Hager and Willie Jackson pilloried.
If she becomes leader of the National Party I think this will enhance, not diminish the chances of this Labour-led coalition continuing on for at least a second term.
Judith Collins is poison, we all know it and I think a significant number of National Party members know it too. If she becomes leader I think it will split that party.

    • I really WANT to believe that, a couple of years ago I might have but on a post-Trump all bets really are off. Minto is a relentless lifetime crusader for common-sense justice, whom maybe a tenth of people who know who Jacinda and Judith are have even heard of. Reason and logic have no currency. Normally at this point I’d propose a feasibly workable solution, but I’m defeated. I have no idea any more how to penetrate the poorly educated attitudes of our society, groomed as it is to gleefully hate.

  3. Darth Collins, to aspiring Jedi Knight Ardern, sometime in 2020…..

“Young fool. Only now, at the end, do you understand.
Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side.
You have paid the price for your lack of vision.”

Where’s our Ewoks when we need ’em??

  4. It’s virtually guaranteed to be a one-term government; remember that foreigners have voting rights in No Zealand (while prisoners don’t); there will be hundreds of thousands more foreigners with voting rights at the next election; most of them vote for the Transnational Capital Party (being transnational capitalists, by and large). The is no “Left” is No Zealand politics.

    • Yes, this is the problem, we let foreigners vote here, and it is almost certainly going to be the end of NZ as we have known it at the next election. Each year NZers die/leave and are replaced largely by chinese and indians who vote overwhelmingly for National. Surely Labour understand the demographic problem that will likely see the left out of power permanently? We urgently need Aussie voting rules brought in before the next election, you should be a citizen to vote and voting is compulsory. Virtually every other western country requires you to be a citizen to vote, NZ is an abberation. Citizenship is also too easy to get in NZ. And why haven’t Labour/NZ done something about immigration, they have had months to action their election promises.

      • +100 CASTRO and SOSFROMAOTEAROA

plus added issue, is they are imprisoning as many Maori as possible and scheming to get rid of the Maori seats.

Note I don’t think that the left should go ballistic on this one due to any race war benefiting the Natz in general, but more a quiet strategy to make sure it doesn’t happen.

  5. Bomber is reading too much into the polls. Labour and National are simply taking votes from the Greens and NZF. There’s very little, if any, change in the political landscape. As for Collins, she hasn’t (nor will ever) have the numbers to support her becoming the next leader of National. Won’t happen.

    • Kia ora Matty
I certainly hope that I am wrong. Here’s the problem, National have continued to remain in the mid 40s in terms of Poll support. The fact they are in the 40s at all should scare the bejesus out of the Left. No Political Party in modern political history has had astronomically high poll ratings like this in Opposition. Those who support National do so with a vicious passion, they aren’t dissipating and the new government isn’t providing for their supporters fast enough because they had bugger all vision going into the election and on Election night they thought they’d lost.

We would be ignorant to dismiss these polls, the Government either starts making serious inroads and brings some real benefits to their supporters or we are going to get slammed in 2020.

      • I’ll accept your wisdom! Note that this would be the first time (I can recall) where an Opposition has had such strong media (bias) support for everything they do (and the government doesn’t).

      • Yes Martyn,

Many times you have pointed out how biased the NZ media has been to labour.

It is apparent that labour has been punished here now as there is some residial anger still apparent over the budget that was high on talk but disappointing on covering all their promises made to us all pre-election.

Labour must handle this better and finally get there new TV channel up and running NOW as that message of good they say they have done is fading in the minds of the voters now.

LABOUR ARE HEMERAGING BECAUSE OF THE TOXIC MEDIA THAT IS UNASHAMEDLY BIASED AGAINST LABOUR NOW, so Labour need to up their media prowess or find the polls getting worse going forward.

If Jacinda has had no luck getting the new “independant TV channel up and running fire the Minister of Broadcasting for God’s sake!!! – and get someone who will do the job and get it properly funded NOW.

        quote;

“But there had been no mention of broadcasting or the media, even though all three governing parties set out specific policies before the election.

Labour promised $38 million next year for RNZ and New Zealand on Air to “strengthen New Zealand’s identity” and provide “sustainability for the industry.”

The Greens also wanted to boost funding of RNZ and create a fund for journalism to be administered by Creative New Zealand. New Zealand First wanted TVNZ2 to become commercially operated state-owned enterprise to subsidise an ad-free TVNZ1, which would join up with RNZ under a new crown entity – the Public Media Commission.

New Zealand First also wants sport of national significance available on free-to-air TV and New Zealand First MP Tracy Martin hinted at quotas for political coverage, in a video released during the campaign.”

      • Totally agree Martyn. National have the big money behind them; Labour need something to counter-balance that, and it’s simply not happening. Very little appears to be happening and a charismatic leader isn’t enough.

However polarising Judith Collins may be within National, if they think she’ll do best at the polls, she’ll be in. Mephistopheles would.

      • And why aren’t these polls getting through to the Government?

It behaves like a possum dazzled by the headlights of an oncoming speeding Porsche.

Surely there must be people in Labour’s byzantine structure who know there’s a speeding vehicle behind the bright lights?

        Ffs act!

      • National is only getting in the 40s because there is no one else for right wingers to vote for – NZ First has gone with Labour and not even the most extreme right wingers take Act seriously any more.

During the Clarke government right wingers had real options (especially in the first term) and look what happened then.

I think this is a serious issue that no one is looking in to.

      • It is not what the Natz are doing right, it is what the left is doing wrong. Signing TPPA and pretending everyone was ok with it, for example. PPP’s in the pipeline.

Labour are Fucked. Clearly it is still a mystery to the left how Trump made it into the White House. AKA because Joe Bloggs now earns less than he did a decade ago in real terms and has less job security and the democrats keep blabbing on about Globalism being such an equal’s opportunity blah blah. Face it, the democrats are not cheerleading globalism to help some slave locked in a potentially burning factory at 50 cents an hour, it’s because they have lost the plot and think that is somehow ok while putting their own country people’s jobs and industry out of action to champion this, while burning up the planet and fawning at multinational industry and wealthy or influential individuals and no doubt getting loads of dosh into the political donation coffers by doing it.

Fun fact, most people voting are not those people and USA people including people of colour have stopped believing in trickle down and globalism will create higher paid jobs and better conditions for themselves and their families.

    • Correct MattyGee.

Collins is a slippery, devious conniver.
She carries far to much baggage, even for the Nats supporters.

There is still two and a half years till the next election and the coalition just need to keep things tight to survive.

    • Personally I hope Collins does become leader. She is a horrible piece of work but her vileness will appeal to the hard core arsehole Nats who hate sharing the world.

      Think Hosking and Richardson.

  7. Firstly. Let me just say that I heard a big bump in my house and cautiously went to investigate… There! A possum and her kid, hanging on to its mother for dear life and peering at me from between it’s mother fur… I thought ” Club? Gun? Don’t have a gun! Don’t have a club! I could squirt it with oven cleaner? ” I watched them clumsily manoeuvre along my bathroom window sill, knocking down my Issi Myaki, my shaving brush, my toothpaste, my condoms, expiry date 2002, my trinkets and ephemera ! The bastards!
Then, they climbed up the west wing wall and carefully, deftly disappeared through a rat hole into me ceilings. They’re still there somewhere.
No racing, on-coming Porsche sadly @ JS BARK.
And we have no opposition to national in labour neither.
Why does Labour refuse to engage our agricultural primary industry in their master plan?
Because they can’t. They wouldn’t dare. They’d have to live with a new prosperity in NZ/AO therefore they’d have to explain to us why NZ/AO has struggled for years and as a consequence created a world class cluster fuck out of a society of a mere 4.7 million people living on a luxurious couple of islands.
Right and Left are as mythical as Unicorn shit. A political Right and Left don’t exist. We have Lords and Serfs. That is all. And elections are a farce to keep us happy. Or not, as the case may be. Now and then, our ‘political leaders’ have to pretend there’s a difference by swapping out the batons.
That’s why nothing changes, except that a few get ever richer while kids leave babies outside pokey saloons and their Whanau live in street gutters.
    Sorry, but it’s all bullshit.
    Labour versus National? All bullshit.

    • lol about the possum….my sister used to have a possum in her wall….they knew it was home for the night when they could see possum fur bulging through a small hole in the wall

  8. With the new mental health survey showing National polling at 45.1% – it’s clear there is a mental-health-crisis in NZ. Funding is not keeping up with the deterioration of Kiwi’s mental faculties.

  9. All good, fuel to the fire. Hopefully the increasing tension & looming chaos will jog some of you into taking DIRECT ACTION against the globalisation establishment!! Bring on the LONG OVERDUE CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS.

  10. Simon can only speak good about Ms Orivida after this poll. Out of fear obviously. He knows Natz witch no 1 has a dirty gnarled talon at the ready on the sharpened knives, possibly aided and abetted by witch no 2 Bennett to assist with the knife plunging, for special favours.

Only a matter of time now before the blood letting begins. Could be a Natz coup in the very near future.

Labour holding its own quite well, which is good. NZ First and Greens need to up their game somewhat, to raise their percentage points for a strong coalition to emerge going into the 2020 election.

  11. Confucius say Collins is nice big Crusher

The next Parliament will be a National Chinese Caucus. Talking excited Mandarin – for the good of the Mao people while Confucius sends clean water to China for babygirl free.

And also water for China Doll Collins – who speaks every language known to mankind. She Favorite friend of china man.

Her first assignment as Leader of the Opposition will be to change all the Street Signs in Auckland into Chinese tongue with pigtail. Some in Mandarin. A few in Cantonese. And a bit in Hakka.

    “God defend New Mao Land”.
